Okay, so we'll start with the atmosphere: well, there wasn't one. It was pretty bare, with a lot of restaurant supplies stored in plain sight; like boxes of cups, napkins, and the boxes for the soda machine.
But who cares about the atmosphere? It doesn't have to wow if the food is great!
The buffet was well-stocked, with a wide range of veggies, meat, seafood, and sauces. My food was pretty good. But not amazing.
The major problem was the PRICE. It was $11/bowl. $11 for some stir fry?? They charge extra for any rice, too. Each of us got some tea, and our total was $28. For TWO PEOPLE! With tip, it was basically $30 for tea and stir fry!
But here is the MAJOR MAJOR PROBLEM: the hostess/owner. There were angry signs hung EVERYWHERE that barked, "ONLY ONE BOWL PER PERSON," and, "DON'T TOUCH FOOD," and, "TAKE ONLY WHAT YOU CAN EAT," and, "OVERSIZE $12.99 PLUS TAX." Those signs are hung EVERYWHERE you look.
The hostess was unfriendly, leaving your tab on your table and promptly adding to it when you got something else.
We won't be back. -

Pros: fresh, quick, happy hour about $6 a person
Cons: lady who runs this joint is always seems grumpy, tells you where to sit.
it is convenient and quick! -

Probably a 2.5, but the hostess-turn-backup-chef (owner?) was really nice.
I'm a big fan of the Mongolian Grill concept and I had high hopes for this place. The realities just didn't meet the Yelp-fueled expectations.
When we arrived it was prime-time dinner hours (7:30 on a Friday) and the place was probably 1/3 full and really not that busy. Nevertheless, 2 of the three meat selections were more or less empty and never refilled while we were there. The restaurant as a whole wasn't very clean -- especially as seen on the way back to the bathrooms.
There's a lot of heap'n-help'n, make what you want goodness to be found in Mongolian Grills, but this place just didn't impress compared to some other places in its genre. -

Party of four did not enjoy it entirely. Two of us thought the food was ok and one of us had a stomach problem afterwards. We've been to a few Mongolian BBQ places before but none of us has ever been told how to arrange our food in our bowls or how to do this or that. The woman there (I presume the owner) made us nervous as she watched over us. I don't think I'd go back here on my next trip to Gig Harbor, WA.

Coming from Southern California where fast-food Mongolian food is in every mall and shopping center, this little place in Olympic Village was a welcome surprise. Prices are about $9 per person, and you can go through the line as many times as you want. Meat, veggie and sauce selection is huge! The hostess was wonderful, and the place was busy and happy on a cold rainy day. We are relocating to Gig Harbor soon and this place will soon become one of our regular spots, I'm sure!

I kindof LOVE this place. The first time I walked in with fear in my eyes and hunger in my belly. I've never been to a place like this where you put stuff in a bowl that's raw and they cook in for you. The hostess must have seen my knees knocking because she quickly gave me the run down and let me do my thing. While debating how much protein I should load in my bowl (i didn't want to be greedy!!) she came came over again and LOADED me up with a ton of chicken. I left there with a huge lunch and leftovers for a big dinner for $10. It's a great little spot with good kind customer service!

FABULOUS!!! One of my new favorite places. There is something about filling your own bowl with whatever combo of veggies, meat, and noodles. Not to mention FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! My mouth waters to think about this place! The gal that greets and seats is amazing! She always remembers my family and is always so friendly and smiling. Definitely eat here....I think you will be hooked!!

This is best Mongolian grill I have ever been to. If you have never been to one of these before, you dish up your own bowl the way you want it and the chefs grill it to perfection on a huge 600 degree hot iron. Warm and inviting decor, fresh food with lots of selection, tons of sauces to choose from, always cooked to perfection, friendly cooks, and the best part...Zoe! She is so sweet and is sure to make your Hot Iron experience a good one. The value is great too, especially for those who can load their bowl heaping full and scarf it all down!

A loud waitress (I think she was wearing an ankle bracelet, like mandatory, court removed bracelet) and slow grill make for a mediocre experience. What else is there to say about a Mongolian BBQ??? You make it to your tastes, so if it sucks, its nobody's fault but your own...

I had extremely high expectations walking into this place after going to the Hot Iron in Mill Creek which was by far a 10/10! I was extremely dissapointed. It was nothing like the other Hot Iron mongolian Grill. This place was a hole in the wall, dirty, loud/annoying/very unhelpful staff and just felt unclean. The food selection wasnt nearly the same, it did not have as many choices of veggies, meats and definitely not sauces. Mill Creek has a great selection of sauces to add after your meal is cooked, this place does not.
The service was HORRIBLE! When we walked in the woman behind the counter was on the phone and we stood there for quite a few awkward moments until she finally moved her hand and motioned us to just sit anywhere. While eating she had Beyonce playing quite loud over the stereo and singing along at an annoyingly high volume, especially because she sucked at singing! Then her family came in and well we didnt hear from her the entire rest of our meal. My boyfriend had to go get our refills and find us boxes behind the counter. After all that the meal for both of us came out to almost $30. Insanely over priced for what you get.
If you want GREAT mongolian, i recommend taking the drive to Mill Creeks Hot Iron. Definitely worth the gas getting there! -

Ate here a few times, its pretty good for the price they give you. Lots of good stir fry made before your eyes. Its nice to get more ethnic foods out in the Gig Harbor since its such a small city (if you can even call it that). But not too bad. Okay service, good food, im not complaining.

I have dined here for the past three years. There is always a particular hostess that is always friendly beyond belief! I think she may be some kind of Gig Harbor icon as she has picures with a lot of regular guests on the wall by the cash register! Everytime I come in she knows me by name. She treats you like family (if she knows you). And let me just say, the food here is GREAT! I love the Mongolian Grill and Im one of those that likes to pack on the toppings as high as I can reach them. (only because they let you take your leftovers to go.) Everything is fresh, the selction is great, and all the sauces really add a bold flavor to your meal. I have eaten at two other Hot Irons (Kent and Mill Creek) Let's just say that they dont compare... Especially the one in Kent, I feel as thogh I am being spied on while I choose my ingredients. I understand food cost, but if your going to have that kind of concept, just expect it!
