I was a long time customer of Bagels & Deli two blocks east on Church but Hot Bagels won me over with their superior selection of non-bagel related stuff. The bagels here taste fine, and they make a pretty mean sandwich here too. I like the Turkey and Muenster on a roll with spicy mustard. They are also the only place in Kensington (that I know of) that sells the following items essential to my existence:

1. Single cans of Fresca
2. Tastykake products (Philly native)

Lots of pro's to this place:
I can get whatever I like 24 hrs: Sandwiches, eggs, bagels, snacks, sodas, cookies, chips, tuna salad, cold cuts, coffee, hot cocoa. They sell a sparse amount of groceries (milk & bread - great!). They are right around the corner. And they really DO have HOT bagels!

A few con's that I won't really hold against them:
The ice cream selection could be better. A few of the guys that work there don't listen when you ask for something. You are likely to walk out with too much milk in your coffee when you asked for a little, or a bran muffin when you asked for a raisin bran muffin. Like anywhere you go, just make sure you watch what they are doing when they give you your stuff.

I wish they also made hamburgers. That would be a dream come true.

I call this place "Deli O' Bagel" because they have a neon sign of a bagel in the front window. Just above the hole reads "deli" and just below, "bagel." You get the idea?

They make 'em fresh in the back and at 55 cents a pop, they can't be beat! Open 24 hours a day. That's right. whenever you want a hot bagel(s) you can get one. They have a coffee-bagel combo deal. With cream cheese, it's $1.85 and the coffee ain't bad! It's exactly what you would expect.

They also carry a full deli of Boar's Head and homemade salads. I see many people buying the seafood salad. It's a little scary, though.

The people who work here are great, too. Serious and quiet unless they're yelling at their kids as they run around when they stop by after school.

Deli O' Bagel is really my most loved place in Kensington.

Open 24hrs gives it an extra star. The bagels are made fresh and they're good. Coffee doesn't taste burnt. Good selection of various other snack food/ drinks.

I used to stop here every morning on my way to the office, but that had to stop. I like everything about them except that they do not clean their coffee urns enough. If the thing is full and fresh the coffee is fine. If it sit there too long though it gets a REAL nasty flavor to it. If the owners check this out, clean them out and you'll have a regular back.

Yes, I think we all have our own names for this establishment. I refer to it as Hot Bagel Deli. The sandwiches are good, the meat slicer looks clean (I'm appalled at how some delis keep the meat slilcer all gross) but best of all is the service. They are superfriendly even when it's 2 am. Best (okay, ONLY) late-night option in K-ton.
