A sleek spare space, this is no frenzied Manhattan salon. Impeccable styling, great attention to detail. Think Issey Miyaki, Rei Kawakubo, Isamu Noguchi and transfer those style sensibilities to hair.

Be prepared to stay a while. Drink some tea. Enjoy the massage. My friend raves about Hiro, "the longest relationship I've had with a man". Which really isn't saying much considering her background, but it does say something.

At $85 a great price for Asian hair, no guarantees on other hair types.

$50 for a gents shampoo, cut and dry. Walked in here today when they opened and sat down without an appointment. Excellent cut, friendly stylists and staff. Only complaint is music, sombre classical- a bit too quiet.

This little 2 or 3-chair salon is located a couple steps down prince street in a very minimal looking space. Its really cozy and quiet and very comfortable.

The first time I came here for a haircut, I got treated to a scalp massage with some lovely smelling oil. I was in heaven!

I got my hair cut by Lauren who always gives me the most perfect layered cuts. I have a lot of thick hair and I always ask for long layers, which she cuts and thins with really sharp scissors. Its amazing! She starts out after my hair has been washed, cutting the layers and thinning some of the bulkier parts, then she dries my hair and continues to cut and thin until it looks absolutely perfect!

You need to have a ton of patience, because my cuts usually take around 2 hours, but I'm never disappointed!!

Beethoven's Sonata No. 14, Opus 27, No. 2, Presto Agitato was playing on a pair of Mirage Omni 260 speakers as she furiously pulled and snipped.  It was surreal.

Hoshi Coupe is an amazing salon that never disappoints. The careful diligence that's taken by my favorite stylist, Hiro, is the reason why I can step out of bed without fixing my hair and still get complements. And, yes, I take the time to travel up to NY to get my haircut cause it's just phenomenal.
