My husband dragged me here yesterday afternoon because he is a huge horror movie fan. He also watches Svengoolie religiously on Saturday nights when we are home. We made the long ass trek out to Berwyn, took us an hour! Once we got here he was like a kid in a candy store. Horrorbles is very unique and has everything a horror fanatic could ever want!
Hubby picked up a Svengoolie t-shirt to wear on Saturday nights when Sven is on. The store has a vast variety of movies, posters, action figures from all the famous horror films (Halloween, Gremlins, Godzilla and they even had Chuckie dolls!). You could drop some serious buck here. I saw some items costing over $300.
The owner takes pride in his shop and it shows. He said they are relocating next door to a bigger space. I'm sure we'll make a return to Berwyn to check out the new store.
The Galerie des Terrors is amazing! I absolutely can not wait to have an excuse for a party there! The classes look great too, anxious to try them out. This place has fun in store for everyone that steps in, lots of events! Always a warm welcome and a friendly face to greet you when you walk in.
Horrorbles probably does cater more towards hardcore horror and sci-fi movie buffs, but even people like me, who don't watch those genres religiously, will appreciate this place. The only word to describe the store is "stupendous", and even that doesn't seem to do it justice. My boyfriend and I went here once and he was running around like a kid in a candy store. Horrorbles carries just about everything, from original movie posters and character models to Svengoolie rubber chickens. The store owner is really friendly and knowledgeable about what he's selling. The merchandise is a little pricey, but this place stocks some really hard-to-find stuff, so I'd say that it's definitely worth it. I hope Horrorbles sticks around for a while.
Oh horrorbles how I love thee, from your crisp old record store smell to your meticulously organized absurdly fantastic dvd collections. I adore this store, ever changing selection of decently priced,relatively hard to find stuff all in one sweet spot.
Plus the owners are awesome and happy to engage in any strange conversation you decide to bring about (believe me,I've over heard a few). Kindness to even the most eccentric customer is always offered and pretty right on of them. It's a great place to find things you always wished existed and didn't realize was ever actually made. Or to buy gifts for your very own bizarre crew.
This shop definitely has some rare and hard to find stuff, and you sure pay what it's worth. Even though some of the stuff is pricey, some is one of a kind and you won't see this stuff just anywhere. If you're looking for hard to find B-movies, this is the place. I got The Mutilator and The People Under the Stairs, along with The Kingdom of the Spiders super cheap.
If you're in the market for rubber chicken earrings, this is the place to go (along with other rubber chicken jewelry). They also have the Sven shirts on hand, along with many other cool t-shirts.
If you're a horror fan, you just can't go wrong in this place!
I don't know... maybe I'm more of a horror fan than I thought? Stopped in when randomly driving down Roosevelt Road. Popped in because I swear Svengoolie from that Svengoolie TV show I catch on the weekends keeps telling me to.
I had no idea I'd suddenly want to suddenly collect everything from miniature vintage wolfman figures to scary goth dolls! Pretty much everything horror and all things awesome. Posters, Figures, Books, more figures... I made it out without buying half the place this time; but we'll see what the future holds.
If you love horror or sci fi, you have to get to this store. They have everything, and I do mean everything.

The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Prices are within everyone's range, even the kids can find stuff to buy in their price range.
First off, let me preface this by saying I have never stepped foot in their store. This review is based SOLELY on their events and their staff.
Actually, it is based on one event and their staff. It was the February Double Feature at the Portage Theatre of "Happy Birthday to Me" and "April Fool's Day" featuring Svengoolie before the showings.
The movies were awesome, they had a great setup where everyone who wanted was hooked up with a promo pic of Sven for autographs and got to get pics. And while standing in line we were chatting with the guys about their merch they had there and at the store, as well as movies and they were very nice. Obvious movie geeks.
Also, they had some other like-minded merch tables in the lobby that we were able to peruse before the films and during intermission. Hopefully I can check out this month's showing as I hear they are getting better and better.
I keep saying I need to run on in there next time I find myself in Berrrrwyyyn. Maybe now that I have a tv, I will!
This store has a lot of crazy shiat. My bf and I went in here and he seen a lot of movies he wanted one in particular that he ended up buying that was crazy. Btw it was Raw Head Rex. We went home and watched it and it was insane. If your into the gore this stores for you.
OK, Svenghoolie fans, ya know this place from TV; why haven't you gone there? A small but AWESOME place full of hard-to-find horror and movie junk, er, junque :)
If it can't bring out the kid in you, you're hopeless.
They also own the bar next door, so the night that we went to meet Sven himself (signing rubber chickens, no less) the place shut down and our crowd (and a BIG crowd at that) moved over to the bar to hear Joe Black's Midnight Spook Show DJing creepy metal mashups until Sven's show came on, and when the whole place seemed to yell along to the bad movie, I found a cheap nirvana for witlessly fun nights.
Expect to overpay on old CREEPY and EERIEs but worth it!!!
This is the best place for horror memorabilia I've been to since House of Monsters closed up. You can find dvds of any number of hard to find ,obscure horror and sci fi movies. The selection of movie toys is solid , not huge but there is definitely some good stuff. There is some representation of movie posters and pictures. After talking with the owner , it also became apparent he could find almost anything you might be looking for. There aren't many stores of this type left that aren't online, nothing beats seeing things up close and personal. Cool as hell.
I love this store- it is for the die-hard sci-fi and horror fan. They have everything- from an assortment of movie posters, REAL collectibles and of course, movies! I made the mistake of going in here last Halloween... no people- this is not a freaking costume shop! Go across the street to CVS and buy a mask. They have a few masks in here but they are usually for the goon who wants to spend top dollar for some "realistic" vampire cape, which just might be ME. There is a hole in the wall bar next store which boasts, "you are only a stranger once"- how ironic that it is next to this collectibles shop.
I love Halloween - so I loved everything in this store. You will get a kick out of the selection of items. Many affordable items and collectables.
yah, it's true, they have everything horror. from $6 posters to a vincent price autographed picture?! crazy....every horror movie ever made will be at that store no matter how obscure. and if for some reason it is not there, he WILL get it for you. I bought a bunch of stuff there because i live nowhere near there. So i recommend that you do the same if you do not live around berwyn. Buy a lot of stuff. Join the army of the dead. This place is the new heroine.......i mean black.
