I had lunch here last week with my sister and we both loved it.

She had the coconut shrimp platter and raved about how scrumptious  and fresh the shrimp was, I had the fish n chips.

I recommend the one piece if your not that hungry, the portions are big and very delicious. The tarter sauce is good, they grate the onions in it and add fresh dill, it really makes the whole thing something tasty to write home about. The slaw was not that great, but the tarter sauce was so good, it made up for it!

I liked this place better than Andria's, less greasy, better tarter sauce, and no obnoxious lines.

We'll be back, probably again and again.

Their fish and chips are really good! Along with their tarter sauce and lemon. mm not expensive at all. :]
The environment is very Oceanside esque.

It was kind of hard for us to find this place because of the sign: "SEAFOOD" in huge letters, and a tiny box with the words "Hook, Line & Sinker" in it.  After finding it on our second pass thru the mini-mall, we ordered fried fish & chips, one made with alaskan cod and the other with catfish, and a cup of new england clam chowder.  They have an extensive menu with large portions.  My husband made the mistake of ordering the 3 piece fish and chips, which is huge.  The average person would probably want the 1 or 2 piece portion.  The food was made to order and came out steaming hot.  The fish and breading were good, but not spectacular.  The chips were cooked well and very crunchy, altho I prefer plain potatoes instead of the pre-seasoned fries they used.  I did like the clam chowder; if I was in the area & had a craving for clam chowder, I'd stop by for a cup.

What a catchy name, huh?!  Hook, Line n' Sinker gets a star just for that in my book.  Oh, and for being 2 blocks away from my parents house, I'll add another star.  Okay, j/k on that one!  So getting back to my fascination with all things under the sea (Monterey Bay review reference), besides just looking at all things under the sea, I enjoy eating some of them too.  Uh oh, don't tell Nemo.  I can't afford to lose another friend.

At Hook, Line n' Sinker, I haven't had one bad thing from the menu, even when it used go by the name, Fresh Catch.  Whenever my mom and I are craving some fish, we always opt to go here.  Their salmon is amazing!  I have a really hard time ordering other things because I enjoy their salmon so much.  I get the salmon with french fries and broccoli, which both taste fantastic in Hook, Line n' Sinkers delicious tartar sauce.  I always have to ask for extra because it's so tasty.

I've also enjoyed the popcorn shrimp (yum), clam chowder (yummy), the fish n' chips (yummy) and yes, the hamburger.  The hamburger is really good too.  My dad orders it when we eat here because he doesn't like seafood.  So, if the hamburger passes his test and mine, it's gotta be pretty darn good, right?  But then of course if YOU don't think so, I don't know if you can really hold that against them, since hamburgers aren't their specialty.   So I guess then, if you like the hamburgers, cool, if you don't, cool too.  I don't think you'll go wrong with any menu selection, as it's all freshly caught, hence the previous name, and well prepared.  The sides are all yumm-o as Rachel Ray would say, so if you hit up Hook, Line n' Sinker, you're in for a tasty meal all around.

Ok... I have eaten here allot, the fish and chips are the best around, but I haven't been there in a while. Why? I'm not sure, but we went there for our after church lunch. If you read my last review, we had gone to Phill's Fish market. Well it is legend that Phill's has the best Cioppino  around. I cant imagine what Phill's tastes like after having Hook, Line and Sinker's Cioppino. It was pretty F-ing good! I have never had a bad meal here and my wife who is a magnet for bad food and service hasn't either. I have had the Clam Chowder before and its good too.
Try the Cioppino though, it ROCKS!!!!

4 stars for the Ceviche!

I work for a Home Builder. Once and a while a gentlemen will drive up in a Toyota  with a shell. Inside the back he has a cooler loaded with homemade ceviche.  Out of the back of the truck, for $5 he will load a tostada shell with said ceviche, with fish, shrimp, or octopus. Once tostada is covered, on goes the cut up Avocado, fresh squeezed lemons, ketchup and hot sauce.

This my friends along with a ice cold Corona could quite possibly be the perfect meal. Of course once caught by the General superintendent said gentlemen was removed from our site.
However the memory of that meal haunts me to this day.

Ever since I have been on a quest for a Ceviche that would equal the goodness that came out of dubious sources from the back of a pick up truck.

I have been through plate after plate of so-so ceviche. Poor me...With that background I stepped into Hook Line and Sinker one day after a haircut next door ( Masa hair.) Of course I order the ceviche.

One word---Yumm! The Ceviche here comes very close to matching the goodness described above. On a small tostada you get a great mix of fish tomatoes and onion, along with sliced avocado on top. Once the hot sauce goes on along with a little ketchup for sweetness, you are there baby!

I actually haven't tried anything else here except the Jalapeno Fries       ( Sliced Jalapeno deep fried), but it all looks good. Next time I will try something else, and order one ceviche tostada on the side.
