Review Highlights
I can say that with my dim sum search, this is one of the better dim sum restaurants. You can expect a long wait time depending on when you get here, but I love how the ladies come right to you and you get everything you want to order within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting down.
A large plus of such a busy restaurant is that food is always fresh and hot because it doesn't sit in the carts for long. Everything is also tasty and sizes of their dumplings are a little bit larger than other establishments.

A good place for dim sum if you have the time to wait about a half hour (maybe longer during lunch… Read more »
Just got back from lunch, was crowded and food was good as usual.
We had a big lunch ($66 with tip for 2 people).
We had a seat by the wall so had to be aggressive to get what we wanted :) Why did I give them a 5 star? because the dimsum was great, as good as anywhere else, but the sauces we're better than anywhere else :)
One tip is to catch any of the servers eye and wave your hand, they will help you get anything you want even if not on their cart.
One other hint, they have some great sauces to dip things in.
Besides the normal ones they have a orange sauce that is amazing.
I especially liked to mix the orange sauce with the hot mustard for a unique great taste. Make sure you get to try the sauces.
We had
1/2 duck
parwns in pastry
prawns in noodles
fluffy bbq pork rolls
chicken feet
fried calamari
fried squab
Something that tasted like ground duck in one of the round fried batters
shirmp stuffed noodle ball
a plate of vegtables
and a bunch of great sauces to go with them.
Service was good, food was great, sauces we're excellent.
The food is cheap and yet quite delicious. The service is mostly OK depending on where you're seated in the restaurant. It is ALWAYS busy, do expect a long wait during lunch. I do however go here for dim sum very often. Compared to other dim sum places the dim sum pieces are larger, you get more for what you are paying for.
I haven't found another dim sum place I like going to as much as this one.
Pro: Good food at reasonable price
Con: Wait is always long here, and especially bad on the weekends
One of my favourite places in the south bay for good dim-sum. Try get there early if you want to avoid the long wait.
Food = good. Good flavors, plenty of dim sum items to choose from, and nice portions.
Prices = reasonable for dim sum. Table of six and over 15 dishes, was about $13 per person after tax and tip.
Service = excellent. (Granted, it was unnerving for me to order stuff in plain ol' English, instead of Chinese here..........)
Decor = tacky faux-tropical/'asian' Tropical fish wallpaper; fake bamboo ceramic 'canopies', fake bamboo outside.
Parking = a cinch.
From what the fiance said...this area is spotty.
Although, I will say this...one of the smartest things that this place has is a podium outside their door, instead of having people wait inside, blocking the exits when the queue gets lengthy.
This place is pretty good for dim sum, probably the best I've had in awhile, hence the long ridiculous 45 minutes to an hour long wait on weekends. But if you have the time, it's well worth the wait. Prices are cheap and food is delish! Because the place is constantly packed, you're guarenteed to get dim sum that is piping hot and fresh. I've been to other places that aren't as crowded and so they have less of a variety of stuff on those carts being pushed around. If you like the food but hate the wait, I suggest coming on a weekday around 11ish, there's no wait then. Yay for a local dim sum place that I can become a regular at!
If you come here for dim sum, you shouldn't leave without trying their taro bun.
This place is always super packed. If you are coming here for dim sum, make sure to arrive before you get hungry because the wait can be crazy. The food here is good, but I'll have to admit that I have had better.
Be sure to check your bill before you pay because they may charge you for things you didn't order.
Reasonably priced for average tasting dim-sum.
The only advice is: don't come here during lunch unless you can get here around 11:30, otherwise, you will get a number and the wait can be pretty long, there's usually groups of people waiting outside the restaurant.
I wouldn't have known this place serves dim sum but oh my, their dim sum is delicious!!!!
Went on a Friday lunch rush but thank goodness they were able to seat us right away and the service was excellent! I assume it was great since there wasn't a crowd yet.
Overall, the food was fantastic! A must try is the taro white crispy dough type dessert!
I've been going to this place back when they were at their original location in el cerrito. I've been to many dim sum houses and only a few are worth my time. this place is definitely one of them.
my coworkers and I used to go to Dynasty inside valco mall which I thought was average at best. to my surprise when I found out Saigon was opening in sunnyvale. the only negative about this place is the long wait. I don't know how many times my coworkers and I would drive by and then see a BIG crowd swarmed in front of the restaurant.
here's a secret about not having to wait as long. you can call ahead and request a number and tell them how many in the party. when you arrive you tell them you called earlier. this way you won't have to wait as long as those that didn't call ahead.
DIM SUM MANIA! - that's what it feels like every time you drive into the parking lot of this place, on weekends or peak lunch hours. Get here before 10:45am or be prepared to wait for years. or I guess call them, Not sure how that works, but you'd still have to wait.
It's really good, they have a lot of specialties. Definitely semi pricey depending on what you wanna eat and what you order. My parents and I usually don't get out of this place for less than $65 for 3 people.
To start off, for all you CHICKEN FEET LOVERS, I am proud to announce that they serve 3 different kinds here. At most places you will find the typical: steamed, marinated and has black bean sauce. Here you will also find chicken feet served cold in a pickled vinegar/spicy/sweet sauce (my personal favorite) and braised chicken feet which uses "bao jup" - abalone flavored braise. All three have different texture and you'll just have to try to find out what you like, if you have no idea how the hell chicken feet tastes.
the ha cheung fun (shrimp rice noodle roll) here is okay. It's improved, soy sauce is the key to this dish since most places in the bay have no idea how texture of the noodle should be (cantonese style) and I have given up this criteria on grading this dish by noodle texture. The shrimp is big and juicy, not bad. The beef one is better if you're into that traditional spicing of beef. other wise I'd stick with the shrimp. BBQ pork one is okay. nothing special.
The har gow, and sui mai is pretty good here. I would argue that hole in the wall places in China town SF has them beat, but then again it is still pretty good, just not the best I've ever had, but it is good.
The jook (porridge) - very very good. if you are adventurous get the kidney and liver one. OMG that liver is cooked perfectly every time! The preserved egg and pork porridge is really good too. For you non- adventurous people, get something that you don't find appalling from the menu, it's definitely worth trying here.
Hoi nam chicken - I love the chicken here, it's pretty expensive and it's more of an appetizer than half a chicken, but the meat is smooth and tender and the flavors are terrific. And the roasted peanuts that come with it are yummm.
Stuffed mushrooms - stuffed with pork in a thick gel like sauce. I like this when it's fresh, when it cools down it's not so good. It's almost like eating a dumpling but instead of the wrapper, it's a mushroom. The mushroom is juicy and wants to squirt out in your mouth, so be careful when you bite it.
Cha sui bao (Pork buns) - steamed ones are good. breading is light and fluffy, however in comparison to the amount of pork on the inside, it's sometimes a little too much bread. The bread is sweet and is very well paired with the bbq sauce on the inside.
custard pineapple buns - get this while its hot. it's so good.
Those are mainly the highlights of what I think most people like at dimsum. But they have SO MUCH MORE here and well worth trying.
And if you actually read through this horrendously long review, I'd like to thank you for your time. :)
The dim sum carts are fast and furious, accelerating from 0 to 5 mph in 3 seconds. They race around the tables at dish-breaking speeds. Dim sum pushers try to get you hooked on their samples, sometimes pushing food on you aggressively, that you'd think they might be paid on commission. "It's very good" some of them insist, shoving the dish in front of your face to entice you with smells, even after you've told them "No thanks" already.
"Wait", I said as one of the ladies zoomed by me. I thought I saw some banana flavored shaomai. I realized it wasn't, but it was too late. "This is very good, this is very good." she says and before I could ask the dim sum pusher what it was exactly, the dish was sitting on our table with our dish list stamped. Oh well. It was in fact good, though probably not "very good."
All in all, good dim sum at a reasonable price. There are a lot of dishes to choose from and you get the food quick. Get here before 10:30 AM on the weekends if you want to avoid a wait.
Arrived outside for dimsum at 9:50 AM (they open at 10 AM) and there was already a small crowd waiting outside. They let us in and 10, but the food didn't come around until 10:30 AM. The dishes were good. Each dimsum pieces were of good size (not too small). I was particularly impressed with the shrimp component inside some of the dimsum dishes. Prices were reasonable.
Medium dishes = $3
Big dishes = $4
Kitchen special = $5
Don't get the "fried noodles." It was greasy, and the only other ingredient in that dish, aside from the noodles themselves, were green onions. Not worth the "kitchen special" price of $5.
This is a good Dim Sum place, priced reasonably.
However, it is always crowded and you always has to wait a minimum of 20 minutes. I am not it worth it.
I have been there several times, and one advice is that you should go with people that know the place or speak mandarin as you will get more specific dishes, and not only the regular one.
I hate to do this to you, but I have to! I defended you when friends call you Taro Bun Bully, but now I know how they feel!!
The Baked Taro Bun is my favorite! I asked the manager for it and was told there is plenty that day and will send some over. When the 2 plate of Baked Taro Bun went to the other table, and they were all gone, I was hurt :( Later your staffs, not so politely, said 'you just have to wait'... This is not cool!
We waited and waited, and finally gave up.. I can't even remember the last time that I didn't have Baked Taro Bun when dimsuming at your place :(....
It was a pretty busy weekend, but several of the staff were kind of rude..

I had super good service today!!
Also got a way around the wait part :) call them before you leave… Read more »
Came here for dim sum on the weekend with 2 other friends. The wait was 1.5 HOURS LONG. I almost turned full raisin waiting in the sun that long. But that said, I think this is one of the better dim sum places in the Bay Area. And I appreciate the fact that no matter where you sit, the servers make an effort to bring the carts around often. This place had as much selection as any dim sum place I've seen, if not more. And although our group didn't know much about the place beforehand, we saw people literally jump up and try to run to the taro bun cart as it came out so we knew we had to battle some fools to get those. So I ripped my shirt off and proceeded to direct a lady to the bathroom. Needless to say, we got our taro buns, which were alright but I miss my shirt.
I think ABC and Mayflower across the way in Milpitas aren't bad either and the wait is nowhere as long. Something to consider if you get a late start that morning.
Great place for Dim Sums and Dinner...always a long wait, but it's worth it. I have never seen this place empty, so you know its always good...
Services is always fast and friendly.
This review is for their dim sum.
First, and very important- COME BY 10:30AM the latest. If you come any later, you will have to wait in the long ass line. We came in at 10am on the dot, and when we got out of the restaurant at around 11:30, the line was humango!! It doesn't look fun.
Second, and equally important- Tell your waiter that you want the TARO BUNS. Tell him to get it for you once it comes out from the kitchen. I think we told/ reminded our waiter this 3 times and each time he told us that they weren't ready. But as soon as it came out, our waiter ran to get us a plate and Ta-Da! Hot fresh taro buns on our table. =)
Third- don't sit inside/ near the walls. The cart can not go through. Sit on the outer side so you don't have to yell to get the lady's attention, you don't have to get up from your seat to see what's inside the cart...you don't have to deal with annoying people.
We had a total of 8 items from the dim sum, a half order of the peking duck and the hainan chicken. Their hainan chicken was sooooooooo good. I love the rice that comes with it. I like their oyster corn porridge too (one of the dim sum items). There were A LOT of corns and many invisible oysters...but tasty.
HK Saigon's dim sum isn't like any others. I really think this might be the best dim sum I've ever had. It's not cheap (total with tax and tip was $54) but it was worth it because there were no sight of itty bitty puney little shrimps. Good portion & size. I had a lot of second favorites. But my ultimate favorite is their taro buns.
So, remember: Go early, sit on the outer isle, and taro buns.
They're busy for a reason.
However, the reason for my 3 stars is my cousin hella hyped this place up. But, when i finally ate here for the first time, I thought their dim sum was just average. It could possibly be above average given my high expectations.
I've eaten here subsequent times and, yes, it is good, but nothing special.
Got here before 11am on Sunday to beat the rush. Getting seated was an adventure and we got seated in some back room. We didn't think we'd see much food coming around here, but wow, there was TONS of food.
The food itself is pretty good. Enough saltiness and flavor to not need any soy sauce, if you wanted to go that route. Two of us were basically stuffed for $27. Not bad, I suppose.
I never really suggest Dim Sum, but if people were going here, I wouldn't mind tagging along.
I've been here twice with co-workers for lunch and I've been delighted both times! The first time we went here with a group of 10 people and paid $9.00 each person. The second time we came in a group of 6 people and paid $14.00 each. It's the one lunch that's equivalent to a buffet but so much better and classier! We've been here on Friday's around noon time and it's always packed! However because we tend to go with 6 or more people, we get higher priority than those with just two people.
They have a good variety of dim-sum here. I love the following: Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Dumplings, BBQ Pork Steamed Bun, Egg Custard Type, Shrimp with Chestnut/Ginger Dumpings, Bean Curd Fried Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp Wet Noodles, the Sticky Fried Rice Wrapped in a Green Leaf, and the Stuffed Eggplants.
This place is very full that you cannot have an intimate conversation with people.
I do not recommend this place for vegetarians at all -it's very difficult to accommodate vegetarians here!
I do look forward to lunches here, and as a result, I will be back!
I went here courtesy of the recommendation of several people, some of them fellow Yelpers (thanks much to you all!).
First the food. In general, the food was pretty tasty. There were only two of us who went so we weren't able to order a large variety but we did order a reasonable share of dim sum (I'm guessing about 10 items). Most, no, actually all of the items were pretty standard fare -- items you'd expect an almost any dim sum place in California. Of these dishes, there were only a few that were sub-par in terms of quality, taste and/or texture. But one complaint I do have that may or may not be shared by others is the size of some of their items. For example, for me, the shrimp dumpling (xia jiao or har gow) should be a bite size morsel so that the flavors of the rice covering, the shrimp and a slight dip in soy sauce, mustard or chili sauce (whatever your preferred condiment is to highlight the sweetness of the shrimp) commingle with each other; but here the flavor was dominated largely by the overly huge portion of shrimp. Might as well just eat steamed shrimp on a skewer then.....
But most of the dishes were generally well flavored and would order them again. The next time I go, I'd like to try some of the other offerings; as this was my first visit, I decided as usual to stick w/ staples (ie - set a baseline using standard dishes).
The largest complaint here is that the staff is very, very rude. And as such, given a choice between two similar places (ie - here vs maybe Joy Luck, Mayflower or ABC), I might choose to go to one of the other places if the service is friendly, even if it is an extra 15 minute drive. I certainly wouldn't wait in line here -- if you're not able to be seated immediately, try one of the other places.
One final comment -- if you go, insist on sitting at a table next to the aisle way where the carts are, especially if you aren't familiar with dim sum and/or can't speak Mandarin or Cantonese. The carts don't go near the tables against the wall or in the center. Why they don't use rectangular tables for two against the wall so the carts can do down that aisle is beyond me.
Overall, I'd give this 2 stars but for now, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since the food was decent (at least this time).
I ate it all and I didn't look back! From the outside this place looks pretty simple - until you get inside...WALL TO WALL PEOPLE...even a back room for overflow. If you plan accordingly, you might be able to call ahead and have them informally reserve you a table. I really liked the food here. Probably one of the best Dim Sum places I have ever been to and they don't charge a crazy amount of money.
Aside from the food, the best part was when we said "no thank you" to a cart rolling by. The lady looked at me and snickered aloud in a low evil tone as if she were saying in her mind, "Feeble American! The Chinese long for my dishes - You have no idea!"
4 times in a row I come eat here and theywere out of taro buns.....i am sooooooo *$&#ing annoyed!!!! WHY DONT YOU MAKE MORE??!!!?!?!?!

We went there on a Sunday morning for dim sum and this place was packed!
I have to say that this is one of the better dim sum restaurants in the bay area. I like it better than the popular Joy Luck Palace in Cupertino Village.
I especially enjoy their tea, we ordered Oolong. Sometimes dim sum restaurants can have some water-down tea, but this one is different.
They have a wide selection of dim sums that you can grab from the cart. I personally like the dim sum order sheet style, that you can check off and hand it to the waiter. I feel like grabbing from dim sum cart is a bit more intimidating, and you don't always find what you're looking for. The food is great and I'll definitely come back next time I crave for dim sum.
That's one small cons thou. Although everyone seems nice. The service is fast, maybe a bit too fast. You can't really sit down for a relaxing morning cuz they definitely want to do everything very fast. We haven't even got our credit card back yet and the waitress has already taken away our tea.
Overall, I have a good experience and I recommend their egg custard buns.
I go here often for lunch since it's close to work... Most of the time they are awesome... good service/nice people/food comes around alot... I think some of them remembers us, b/c we go there so often..
but today, we hit one of those.. disappointing day...
me n co-worker sat down ... got our tea.. got our first dish... then 20 min later finally got another two.. n another 10min later finally one of the guy asks if we were looking for something and got us the egg custard bun...
in between all this, there was this one lady who must have been PMSing or something.... she goes around pushing her cart, and ignores everyone, unless you literally GRAB her... to stop... co-worker tried to stop her by asking if she had something... she just strolls along.. the people next to us (who were Chinese) got ignored too... so it wasn't just US that was getting ignored..
so today we only got 4 dishes.. our bill was $15... cheap lunch..
Best dim sum I've ever had.
Came here with a group of coworkers for lunch on Friday--man, it was PACKED. There was a crowd of people (yes, folks, a crowd) milling around outside when we walked up to the restaurant. Inside, it looked as if every single table was filled, and this place is huge!
As soon as we sat down, a lady came by to serve us dim sum a-la-carte. Service was very fast, and pretty decent for an Asian restaurant that was as busy as they were.
The food was delicious--the rice noodle rolls were better than any that I've ever had. Usually it's one of my least favorite dishes because the slimey and chewy texture of the flat and thick rice noodles kind of gross me out, and there's only a tiny bit of meat in the middle to make everything better. However, here the dish was so nicely flavored that I didn't really care about the noodle and lack of meat.
The red bean sesame balls were also really good--pretty much fried to perfection. A bit oily, but I liked it like that. I also really liked this sweet red bean coconut pudding-like thing that they had. It was really refreshing and a good way to cut the fat after dim sum.
If you've never had dim sum before, you should definitely try the basics. Shu mai, the rice noodles I mentioned above, chive and shrimp dumplings, and egg tart for something sweet.
I want to come back some day to try the xiao long bao and chicken feet if they have them!
Just got back from lunch and ooooooffffff I et way too much.
Lots of good choices and the food was outstanding.
Everything from the steamed pork buns to the fried tofu was just rocking.
$25 for 2, full beyond belief and the Dim Sum was at our table before we were ready for more every time.
I will recommend this for lunches any day. The wait was about 10 minutes at noon. I feel lucky since as we got in there, more were piling up behind us.
The only negative is how loud it was. This isn't a star off negative though. It was as fun people watching as it was eating.
This is a lunch only Dim Sum Review so be aware.
Came here for the first time and holy moles is it good. We arrived at 11:00 which was perfect because the huge crowd rolled in at about noon. The dimsum is priced reasonably compared to other places I've been to so that's a major plus. I am definitely coming again!
PROS:
Nice place, very authentic looking, good amount of parking. They had carts, I'm a sucker for Dim Sum Restaurants with Carts since I don't know what to order...I just know whats yummy and POINT! The Dim Sum here is on steroids! Everything is so big! They had a big bottle of red vinegar at the table so we didn't have to ask for any...
CONS:
Workers were sort of rude, they asked me to move my chair twice to get their cart through. Maybe if they didn't try to show so many tables into one cramped room, there would be more space to push their carts. Some of the items we chose were cold which is strange because it was lunch time which is the prime time for dim sum.
FINAL ANSWER: Go! if you're craving Dim Sum and don't have anywhere else to go.
This is definitely one of the better places to get Chinese food in the south bay. Didn't know about this place until a friend recommended we go there after a party on a Friday night, say around 9pm. 11 of us went there and we ordered a lot of their dishes: Their Peking Ribs, Mayo shrimp, fried rice, clam claypot w/tofu, chow fun w/chicken, a tofu dish I don't recall the name of, vegetable delight, and fried flounder. All of them were not too greasy and were comparable to the food in SF (i'm from SF and I know good chinese food) which surprised me. The tea that we got was the oolong tea and the chrysantheum and it was nothing special but hey it's alright. They also brought us red bean soup as desert.
The atmosphere there was actually pretty good with live seafood in tanks and what drew my attention was the gigantic crabs and lobsters they have.
The bill with tip was around $12 for each person which was really decent. They did not include gratuity in their bill which was refreshing since most American places tack on 20% if the party is larger than 8. So I was definitely impressed with the food and would go there again.
This place was insane today. A billion people were lined up in all sorts of order. We called in and got a number, but still waited for about 20 mins. The outside had a podium. I'm guessing that this happens every weekend for dim sum.
When we got inside, it was a mad house. Lots of tables, lots of people and lots of eating going on. We were seated at a corner of the restaurant, so we got a lot of pushcart traffic. The focus of this place is clearly seafood. Everything that came out for the first little while was seafood. They had clams, lobster, shrimp everything, etc. Then the typical dim sum stuff came out. I even got my chicken feet!
All in all, it was okay. Not that spectacular.
I'd give it 5 stars for the food and 3.5-4 stars for the service. This review is primarily about lunch and dinner.
For me and a lot of my friends, Saigon Seafood Harbor has the most tasty Cantonese fusion food in the Bay Area. We go there for late dinners on weekends. Yes, it tends to get VERY crowded. That's why we always try to arrive around or after 8 pm.
We (I'm speaking for a group of 8-12 friends) always order its soup of the day. We normally go with the medium-sized pot so that everybody can have two or more small bowls of the soup. It has become a routine for us. This is the ONLY place where we ALWAYS start our dinner with a pot of soup. You'll like it if you've tried and liked Cantonese style soup.
This is one of the very few places that use fresh lilies in their recipes. According to Chinese medicine theories, lilies are good for the lungs and the stomach. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
They serve a variety of fried rice. Most recently we ordered the "8 treasures fried rice" (didn't pay attention to its real name on the menu). It came in a large clay pot with all kinds of fresh and dried seafood in it, and was enough for 8 of us.
The portion is very reasonable. When we had eight of us, one pot of soup, one order of fried rice, and six dishes are slightly more than enough. With 12 people in the group, we'd order eight or nine dishes plus the soup and fried rice.
The chef here uses oil moderately (relative to most other Chinese restaurants I know). I won't say they have the healthiest Chinese food, but in my view the balance between tastiness and healthiness is very good.
Service-wise, they are not very warm and don't check on customers often, but it's not all that bad. I focus on the food when I'm there. :-) There was one time when we had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get our first dish, but that's probably one of out 20 times.
Even the best restaurant may get very bad reviews when reviewers don't know what to order. For Saigon, if you don't like it the first time, try something else the next time. Hopefully you'll find what's best for you.
My favorite dim sum place.
The taro buns are no joke. my friends call them crack buns because theyre so addicting. I cant have dim sum without thinking about these buns. I have the saddest day ever, if i go here, and I dont get those buns. these are no joke. I havent met a person who doesnt like them. I ran across the entire restaurant for these buns. I get anxious when I expect these buns to come out of the kitchen. I can go on forever about these damn buns but i think you get the point.
oh and their food is good too. really cheap in terms of dim sum. comes to about $10 per person. and if you ever need something, holler at the guys in white with the ties, they got your back.
The food is good and non-greasy. The acoustics are really loud; it's not a good place to catch up with people you haven't seen in awhile.
I came here for lunch with some old workmates; we arrived at 11:45am to beat the crowds.
I am stuffed like a Thanksgiving Turkey, and thankful accurately describes my mood right now too. This is review #200 for me- YAY!
Went here for lunch today with Guri, Lak and Hung. 4 of us ate like kings, with tip, for $57. Made a resy for 11:30 -they were on a wait by noon.
We had...the taro buns!!! These elusive delicacies are only made once a day and are only attainable if you happen to have a chinese-speaking buddy eating with you who knows what to look for and who to ask. Fortunately we won the taro roll lottery because we had just that at our table, Super-Hung! So they are buttery, crispy, soft, and warm with starchy purple taro on the inside. Three to a serving, not sure what they cost, I would pay anything to get them again. SO GOOD.
We also had: shrimp noodles, chow mein, pork buns, rice packets, jasmine tea, shrimp and seafood dumplings, tofu with jalapenos and a salty kinda of crunchy coating, shrimp-stuffed tofu, pork dumplings, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else because I'm in a food coma right now and my brain is moving slowly. Needless to say, we are all OK for food for a few hours :)
We saw the lobster noodles roll by but had eaten way too much- have to save something for next time anyway. And we WILL be back.
I'm visiting from the east coast (WashDC) and was here for dinner. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to taste the DimSum. I ordered a lobster (ginger and scallions) and a stir fried Snowpea leaves (garlic) dish. Overall this place for dinner was just average and prices were on the high side.
Taste: (1-5=4) Was good but not great, have had much better
Price: (1-5=2) My 2 dishes totaled $64!! (tip incl'd)
Best dim sum in the south bay, hot, tasty, and not too greasy. I noticed that some of the portions for the dim sum are a little larger compared to some of the other nearby places serving dim sum. My favorite is the chive dumplings - pan fried and very yummy!
Decor is nicer than most chinese restaurants. The wait can be horrendous, so go prepared to wait a while particularly if you get there during prime time.
Service is OK, similar to other busy dim sum houses where the wait staff can be brusque. The ladies pushing the carts around can be on the nice side if you show interest in what they are pushing on the carts. Otherwise, they will roll right by if you don't look like a "eater".
Haven't tried ordering off the regular menu yet.
The food is really delicious here.
Dim sum is more popular here than the dinner. There's always a line for dim sum in the morning while at night, it's an easy access. it seems any thing this place offers is savory. The taro buns is uberly yummy. my mom goes nuts for them.
it seems my family won't be hitting up mayflower or any other dimsum restaurants now since they're so loyal to this restaurant.
This place is pretty good. One of my favoritest place to go eat good quality dim sum for a fraction of the cost in Sunnyvale.
PROS:
- awesome dim sum
- affordable
CONS:
- long long waits. you either come early or don't come at all. especially on Sundays. Waits on Sunday can go up to 2 hours for larger parties (FYI - you can call in your reservations. they dont always answer the phone though so keep trying ;) )
- mediocre customer service
All in all...a pretty good dim sum place in the Sunnyvale area.
