I love this place.
When we were considering buying a house, the proximity to this place was a factor.
There is a lot that you can tell about a place when you consider the wait time of brunch. The wait at this place can be hours long. And we'll stand or sit or lean. It's that good.
This place is comfort food at its best. The menu is huge and expansive. There are always specials and always stand bys and the sidedishes... oh, the sidedishes. The amazing thing is that no matter what kind of delicious sauce, or deep fry batter, or sour cream your food is smothered in, you never leave feeling gross. You never hate yourself for over-eating, even though the portions are pretty substantial. I think that's what happens when you use really good ingredients.
And brunch is wicked busy. Try going for dinner. It's the same food and you can relax. (Bring a sweater. It gets chilly in the winter.)
Some suggestions:
Try the huevos.... they're lighter than an authentic huevo, but really tatsy and fresh.
Eat the soup. They're all good.
The rueben. You'll only need half.
Don't leave without trying the potato latke. I'm not sure exactly what they do to it, but you'll crave them later.
Spring for the carrot cake. You don't want to miss the cream cheese frosting.
I have been drooling over Yelp reviews for Honey's for months.
After a quick ride on the El, my friend and I arrived at Honey's a little after 2 pm. We waited 25 minutes for a small 2-top next to the entrance.
We were offered coffee almost immediately, and the refills kept on coming. Before we had a chance to look at the overwhelming menus our waiter stopped by to see if we had any questions. For any vegetarians out there - the refried beans are veggie friendly, and the meatless sausage is from Morningstar Farms.
Torn between the huevos rancheros and the enfrijoladas with veggie sausage I turned to our server for advice - enfrijoladas it was. My friend ordered the special turkey club. Her sandwich was piled high & came with a generous portion of fresh cut fries. She was sensible and took half home. I was less reasonable and scarfed my meal down.
I loved having both Sriracha and Frank's hot sauce readily available on the table. I only wish I had ordered pancakes to test out the blueberry preserves. Oh well, I have a feeling I'll be back in no time.
Amazing Amazing Amazing.
I love it. If I didn't live across the street from Sabrina's and Morning Glory, I'd rather wish I lived across the street from Honey's.
So in love with everything on the menu that I'm not going to suggest anything for you because it's all good.
It really just depends what you are in the mood for, so come here often, to satisfy every craving, salty, sweet, breakfast brunch or dinner. Or bring a group of friends and make them all order something different and try every plate.
And remember, it's a BYO so bring that champagne, or vodka in with you! :)
You know the feeling you get loosing your virginity? Well, let me rephrase that.. the feeling MEN get the first time loosing their virginity! :)
At brunch this past Sunday I tasted HEAVEN in my mouth for the very first time!!
Honey Sit-N-EAT is phenomenal!
Hands down the best breakfast I have ever had in my life, and let me tell you.. this little Taste Bud Diva has had a tremendous amount of breakfasts/brunches for the past 10 years out in the city streets of New York, Chicago & Boston.
If I could seriously put together my top 4 or 5 favorite things and combine them into a brunch dish...it would be EXACTLY what I had at Honey's Sit-N-Eat!
Let me paint a pretty picture for you...
-BEEF BRISKET (Tender, pull apart juicy) with Smoked Cheddar Cheese, onions, etc in an Omelet.
- Cheese & Onion.. crispy, filling, fat POTATO PANCAKE
- Side of sweet sweet, home made cinnamon apple sauce
- Side of creamy rich real Sour Cream
- A HUGE perfected, buttery, grandma's in South Carolina style Buttermilk Biscuit!!!
Do I seriously need to say anymore?!
They had many other tempting sweet options on their specials menu such as pumpkin pancakes, peanut-butter stuffed french toast.. and the list goes on.
Can it get ANY better that they also use all Locally Grown & Organic foods?!
Ok, I just need to stop with this review now... the puddle of drool beneath my chin is starting to overflow onto my shoes.
Honey's Sit-N-Eat is forever my to go spot for Breakfast or Brunch whenever I am in the Philadelphia area. Don't let the wait push you away. I think I'd wait at least 3 hours for a seat at Honey's.
I have problems... I already know this. ;-)
I'm going to re-name this place "Honey's Stand-N-Wait". Waited outside for 50 minutes on a Sunday morning, which seemed pretty typical because nobody else seemed phased. (At least we got a chance to walk to One Shot Coffee to kill some time)
Once we got inside the place seemed friendly, but the intensely hipster waitstaff didn't seem overly attentive. The waitress didn't let me order the chicken friend steak fingers off the kid's menu even though I was willing to pay more (it was the novelty, not the cost). She flat out told me that it didn't even taste good.
So what did I do? I got the chicken fried steak and proved her right...because it was terrible. Chewy, soggy, and the gravy was a sloppy mess of thickened, flavorless cream. My friends got more standard brunch food, which they said was good, but I thought the appeal was the southern food!
I think I'm giving it two stars on reputation only. Honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would venture out to NoLibs for this place on a Sunday morning.
Brad's rating (out of 5):
Price: 3
Food: 1
Decor: 4
Service: 2
Wild card: Salt and pepper shakers that were cute enough to steal, but regrettably I didn't...
It's four star food, but I'm knocking it down to three stars because it's impossible to go here for breakfast without waiting for an hour and a half for a table (which I know isn't their fault). The service also leaves a bit something to be desired.
However, despite the wait and the shoddy service, it's one of the better places to get breakfast in a city that is lacking in good breakfast eateries. The western omelet is great and their coffee is fantastic.
Anything but breakfast is ok, nothing to write home about.
I love Honey's. Honey's [greater than] Sabrina's. No garnish taking over your plate. An extensive menu at all times of the day. No turning the wait for a table into a cute little activity with stale hot chocolate, just heat lamps outside the door when it's cold. The service is fast and on point. The wait can be a little long, but it will take you even longer to get back in the car and drive to the downgrade of your choice (Oregon Diner, IHOP, Sabrina's, etc.).
Most importantly, the food is great. Good vegetarian options. The vegetarian Frito chili pie appetizer takes me back to high school football games and my carefree meat-eating days. The latkes are crispy and delicious. My favorites are the breakfast quesadillas and the enfrijoladas. Usually, if huevos rancheros are on the menu, I will order them. But it's nice to have a few similar, but different options here.
I love Honey's. Dig it.
One of my favorite places..... ever. Absolutely delicious/ fresh food. Love it. So many options, great dishes, etc... My favorite for breakfast: the heuvos rancheros. yum! the pancakes are giant and the best i've ever had. I love the little area towards the back that looks like a dining room. Go with a small group and sit there.... ahhhh, its the little things that amuse me, i suppose.
i do wish that it was a few years ago when it didn't get as crowded.... but i am glad that so many people have dipped their forks in this deliciousness.... i basically only go here on weekdays now. saturdays and sundays are nearly impossible to get in.... and, though the wait is well worth it, i'm just not into waiting. when i am hungry i'm hungry!!
I hate to be a Honey's party pooper but I have to agree with Robyn h. below about this spot being way overhyped.
Umm, the fresh squeezed orange juice?? Tasted like nasty tang to both me and my dining companion. If that's fresh squeezed I'll take some Tropicana any day. Having been in NoLibs for a year I kept hearing about how amazing this place was. No one believed me that I hadn't yet been there. I chose a strategically favorable early weds afternoon. to make my debut at Honey's, as opposed to the weekend rush which I thought would make this a highly relaxed & enjoyable exp. We didn't have to wait for a table next to the open windows which was lovely, about as good as it gets in this place but it was still hella crowded and the waitress was indefferent/rushed. The place reminded me of my organic food coop in college, where everyone filed in canteen style and got served sometimes amazing sometimes yucky hippie food. This must've been one of the yucky days at Honey's Sit N Eat.
The latkes were wack. I was expecting jewish potato pancakes all golden crispy and instead i got some kinda heavy flat hashbrown type thing that had little flavor. The coffee wasn't that great either. The whole plate just fell short to me. everything tasted salty. Maybe I take brunch way to seriously as a sacred institution but I'd like to repeat the sentiment that Sabrina's is way better, and way more worth the wait.
Not much to say that hasn't been said before. I'm usually there with my almost 2 year old son, and we sit down to breakfast before 8:30, which is pretty much the only way you can get a table without a wait.
The waitstaff is almost universally friendly and great with our son, and he loves the fruit cup and blueberry jam on the table.
I've had dozens of meals here, from breakfast to lunch to dinner, and can't really remember a bad experience. The weekday breakfast special is one of the best in the city, and dinner, which once was an underrated and underpopulated meal is now packed like any other time.
POUR SOME SYRUP ON MEEEE!! let's be real. honey's is where it's at, honey's is all that. after being introduced one morning after work, i fell in love. breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. the hype about the breakfast bomb was every single bit true. i heard about it, but i wasn't quite sure what i was going to get.
imagine the fluffiness of a pancake, with egg, lancaster county bacon, cheese, and fresh blueberries in the pancake batter, sprinkled with powdered sugar. *drool* this and a side of grits put a mile wide smile on my face for hours after. even now thinking about it.
the atmosphere and friendly staff made my multiple visits awesome. i'm not sure if there are lines for the place or not when it's busy, but i'd def. wait. people compare it to sabrina's all the time. i think they are both equally unique, but i'd pick honey's any day over sabrina's..no offense, of course.
oh, let me not neglect how awesome EVERYTHING on the menu sounds.
Oh Honey's, you are one of my great Philadelphia loves. Coming here in the morning and drinking endless coffee, eating my heavenly breakfast, and just relaxing is truly one of my favorite things to do.
I have a flexible schedule so I am one of the lucky ones that gets to enjoy all that is fantastic about Honey's but without the wait. I do see how the hour or more wait on a Sunday, hungover, sounds less than appealing. I promise you though whatever you order will cure what ails you.
Suggestion, order a side of pancakes with their fantastic syrup. Yum, yum, yum.
H------ all HYPE
O------ food is ORDINARY
N----- NOT half as good as Sabrina's.
E----- EDIBLE, but not fantastic!!
Y---- Y bother waiting in the long lines? There are far too many other options in the area! LOL
S--- Honey's was so-so!!!
This pretty much sums it up. I had pumpkin pancakes. They had far too much cinnamon. Also had eggs and potatos. The potatos were good, I suppose. My boyfriend had a Poorboy, and thought it was mediocre at best too. Not bad, Not good, just average. Add the over-crowded atmosphere... and the place is just not worth standing in the rain for 20 minutes, (which some people did) or sitting in a tightly packed waiting area with somebody's BUTT in your face for 20 minutes. (which I did! LOL) In their favor, I will say Honey's was cozy... it was a cold and rainy day, and I appreciated that Honey's had their heat on, unlike some other hipster spots that insist on having the a/c cranked up all year long!
The best part of my meal was my english breakfast tea... which I could have bought at any Target store and made myself at home. In short, Honey's is ok, but not worthy of more than 2 stars. I may revisit later and see if it wasn't just what I ordered that wasn't so hot.
I feel like my experience must be an anomaly considering all of the amazing things I hear about this place, but considering it is a contender for the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant I have to say something.
We started out rather unimpressed with the menu. I've always heard that they have interesting options and especially for vegetarians, but I had to end up settling on a tuna melt, and my vegan girlfriend on a veggie burger. We're always up for trying something new but there was simply nothing interesting to try.
I was unimpressed with my tuna melt. A greasy concoction served on white bread it started to make me feel ill after a couple of bites.
My girlfriend, a vegetarian for seven years, took a bite of her veggie burger only to discover that we had been brought a turkey burger instead.
I have worked in food-service myself for years and understand that things like this can be honest mistakes, and approached the situation as such, but the waiter tried to blame it on my girlfriend, saying that she probably accidentally ordered a turkey burger.
He then proceeded to try and guilt us into paying for the food while my girlfriend is sitting in tears.
I almost feel like I must have been at the wrong restaurant, but it was called Honey's and it was on 4th and brown. I'm sure that my experience was the exception and not the rule, but every time I see the glowing reviews I can't help but smolder a little.
Should be 3.5 stars. On a Monday morning at 9:00am we were a party of eight. Service was fine. Portions are large and everyone's order came out just right. Egg white omelet was delish. Pumpkin pancakes were the highlight of the breakfast with crunchy walnuts packed in them. Orange juice tasted like a hybrid of OJ and grapefruit juice. Coffee was always hot and fresh. Maybe I'll return.
I never went to Honey's until about a year ago, but I've lived nearby for almost 3 years now. Before I actually visited it my friends would talk about honey's like it was the most amazing place on earth...just rave about how its the best place to go for brunch. I tried to go there for brunch several times after hearing them rave on and on but there was always AT LEAST a one hour wait for breakfast...I always ended up just scooting off to standard tap or the abbey or north third which were always stellar without the wait.
Perhaps it was these events leading up to my first honey's experience and the major build up that was its downfall. I like honey's its cute, they have great fresh OJ but compared to the other places nearby I find it falls a little short....especially if I have to wait over an hour to eat. The service is friendly, the menu has lots of selections - almost too many - but I've never found the food to be over the top good...though it is good. I've given honeys many chances, I'll go with my friends and have a good time...its decent all around but for me there are so many other places nearby that I would rather frequent. I just don't understand what all the raving is about!
My favorite breakfast joint in Philly - I usually ask my sis to go there whenever I visit. The only detracting factor is the wait. But I looooooove their food, so it's worth it to me. We just bring the Scrabble/weekend newspaper or crossword to while away the time before we get our eats on.
(Please don't be campers, people - everyone else wants to enjoy a good meal, too!)
I have eaten here several times and they are consistent.. the food is always good and theres always a long wait. There are many veggie options and everything seems homemade. The bleberry jam at the table is agreta touch. I was very disappointed by the service on my last visit. We waited over an hour for a table, the host was rude, and our waitress tried to upsell anything possible.. like.50 applesauce that already came with the latkes (so we had 2), sour cream, avacado and veggie meat, and the latter 2 I never even received. An average meal is between $7 and $10 and we paid almost $10 for sides, 2 of which I never received! I like my server to be on my side.. trying to tell me the best food, deals, etc..
If you want to go here bring cash, go hungry, make sure you have a lot of time, and don't wait for a table outside. The food is worth the wait.
Sunday morning brunch has become a weekly ritual I look forward to. However, brunch usually equals bloody marys, unfortunately not served at Honey's. And there's always a wait, and by the time my friends and I get ourselves together, waiting is the last thing I want to do.
Today, upon agreeing to go to Honey's, I have to say, we were disappointed and disgruntled to find a line. We even drove by, deciding not to wait it out. After a bout of indecisiveness, we knew. Honey's was calling our name.
Except, it took way longer than the "twenty minute" estimated wait time, just for counter seats, for the host to call our name.
We had perused the menus before we were seated, so we knew exactly what we were going to order. I had no doubt in my mind I wanted the nova lox platter and as much coffee as I could possibly drink.
We ordered, and like magic, our food was presented to us within a few minutes. Every table in the place was full, and our food came out in no time.
My nova lox platter was, without a doubt, the most incredible I've had in recent memory. Sure, it's not hard to get it wrong. A toasted bagel, smoked salmon, tomato, red onion and a hunk of cream cheese. But I would have waited hours for this platter.
A nice young man behind the counter told us a joke, and a secret about the M&Ms. We got about three cups of coffee, and then the girl behind the counter gave us "freshies" in to-go cups. They were playing Man Man, which was a great brunch soundtrack. The restaurant was filled with an eclectic crowd of families, kids, and twentysomethings.
Well worth the wait. I wish there was a Honey's in South Philly, and I'd go every morning.
I'm so sad. Why, you ask? Because I really don't enjoy writing bad reviews. I literally JUST left HS&E, and you can best believe that my review was written up here *taps thinker* before I even left. Sorry Honey('s), I tried. Honey('s), Sweetie, Sugar, don't be like that. I was rooting for you! I even chose you over the Dutch Eating Place today, but unfortunately, that won't happen again.
A friend and I stopped in for brunch, and we were super hungry. After a brief wait, we were seated, and our waiter came over. Our waiter was not friendly AT all - plain and simple. We just ignored his rudeness and ordered our drinks - I opted for the fresh squeezed orange juice. That juice tasted like fresh squeezed orange water, with a hint of lemon... :-(. I ordered two eggs, scrambled hard, with scrapple fried hard, buttered challah and the onion and cheese latke. When our food came out, mine was just barely warm. After checking with my friend, and her assuring me that hers was hot, I signaled for our waiter. I told him that my food wasn't hot at all, and he asked me what wasn't hot. I told him none of it was. By this time I was pretty annoyed, because not only was our waiter rude, but my food was cold and I was still VERY hungry. He returned about 8 minutes later with a new plate, but by that point I didn't even want it. I ate my scrapple, latke and a piece of my toast, but I wasn't impressed with anything but the latke. My friend's Frito pie was good, though.
You know the worst part about my experience, that the waiter was unfriendly, but EVERYONE else was. From the friendly guy who was bussing tables and pouring coffee, to the nice greeter - the waiter, not so much.
So, sorry Boo...er, I mean Honey('s)...but this is the end for us.
This place is great but it's become such a hipster's paradise that it takes forever and a day to get seated. There is always a ginormous line to get seated. And on top of that, the last time I was here my dude server was wearing a shirt I could see through. I'm sorry but I do not need to see man nips when I'm hung over and eating a delicious omelet. On my last visit service was as sparse as the server's shirt. Yet they still get 4 stars cause their food is awesome! They're like a horrible ex you continually backslide on.
If you have at least 30-45 minutes to hungoveryly stand outside and stare at your friends whilst waiting for some awesome food sans bloody mary, this is your place.
Since everyone and their mother on Yelp has had a go at a review of this place I saw it fitting that I also throw my hat in the ring - if only to inform potential diners of what an experience at Honey's is really like.
Whenever anything is written about my 'hood (yes, Northern Liberties is mine, my precious), whether it be in the National Geographic Traveler (just recently, check it out), the NY Times, insider travel guides, what-have-you, Honey's always receives a mention as a 'must' eatery above all others. (well, heck it's always mentioned hand-in-hand with Standard tap, but that's another story for another time)
Yes, the place is darling, with its industrial city barn feel, replete with iron ceiling girders, wood plank floors and vintage/flea market decor. Yes, they have a menu to sate anyone's palate with offerings for the veggie and non-veggie eater alike. Yes, it's affordable and the portions generous. Yes, the freshly-squeezed OJ and yes, the food IS good.
But is Honey's the place of the second-coming of god-ly-eateries? NO. Is this the brunch place to end all brunch places? NO. If you're there over the weekend, there are so many other local restaurants in walking distance that have an equally good brunch, at a similar price point, minus the excruciating wait and the cooler-than-thou service - like Café Estelle, the Abbaye, N. 3rd, A Full Plate, Dos Segundos to name a few.
I feel like Honey's is just as good as any of these places - but somehow along the way, it became the epitome of all things brunch and of Northern Liberties. It became "the" place to go. Which is fine, because we're all guilty of being trendy diners at one time or another.
The truth of the matter is, is this place (for grub, ambiance and the trend-factor) worth the hour + wait? NO and NO. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of this place, I just don't think it's worth my precious weekend time off nor do I think it's a required stop on the neighborhood tour.
Maybe it's because I live a hop, skip and a jump from Honey's and if my hangover permits I try and go there before 9:30 am before the crowds roll in and often just grab a seat at the bar. I have that luxury, but I don't make it an every weekend habit.
In any event, if you're in my neighborhood, it's still a nice place for you to get some good food but consider the alternatives. If you're an impatient person like I am, go before 9:30 during the weekends and after 2 pm (but not on Sundays) - if you go with a group (more than 4) it will extend your wait no matter what. If you're determined to go, bring the weekend paper, take into consideration inclement weather (there's barely any room to wait inside) and experience a tiny (but not exclusive) slice of Northern Liberties.
How do they do it? Even a two-egg breakfast is better here. The eggs taste better, fresher. The latke is good. The coffee is delicious. The blueberries are delicious.
Brought my mom here, and she was wowed. She got the breakfast poboy with turkey sausage. The sausage was tangy and tasty. It was smothered in "white gravy," which was more of a bechamel than a redeye gravy. Very good.
Service was good; our coffees were constantly refilled, food came quickly.
Honey's does it again. Yum.

It was a Tuesday morning when me & a friend were looking for a place to have his birthday lunch. Silk City was closed to our disappointment when a man walked by and said "aww yeh man they closed, ya'll ever eat at Honey's?" No we hadn't so we headed to Honey's Sit-N-Eat. I had heard about this place for years but never made to the trek over. They decor is great, the people are cool, really cute little homey knick-knacks, all around great vibe. I ordered eggs benedict & he ordered the chicken fingers. The eggs benedict was good but different. It had more of a citrusy taste to it which didn't sit well with my hung-over stomach. His chicken fingers were amazing though. They were breaded with all sorts of herbs & spices that put a great new twist on the traditional. The fries were equally delicious served with a chipotle mayo.
I LOVE HONEYS SIT-N-EAT.
I travel from Brooklyn to Philly to eat at Honeys. & No, I am not lying.
(I think that is all that needs to be said)

What a gem! Honey's is a Philly staple - I've been several times for breakfast and never had anything bad. The 'Enfrijoladas' are amazing, so flavorful and fresh. They focus on using local and green products as much as possible, which is awesome. They are generally very busy for breakfast, especially on the weekends, but it's worth the wait!
I have to say, this place was fantastic. I was browsing through Yelp and saw this restaurant. Figured that we would try it out. I can safely say, we were not disappointed.
We were told that there was a 10 minute wait. 5 minutes after, we were seated at the counter. The service was prompt, and friendly. Refills on coffee and water were timely and generous.
The best part would have to be the food. We came for brunch. I had the Breakfast Bomb, my fiance had an omelette. Both were perfectly cooked, and very, very tasty.
Overall, the prices were reasonable and the service good. I'll have to come back here on a regular basis.
Sabrina's Cafe is way better. Cara and Elina were right on, this place is overrated.

Yes..... The food is fabulous. The desserts look heavenly you will not have room for dessert. The food portions are huge. The restaurant is very small , the decor is "unique", and the table are very close to one another. That being said the service is fabulous, but I have never in all of my life seen so many guys (staff and customers) wearing black socks with sandals. Wait we were talking about the restaurant, the food is phenomenal. Lol.
Note: The prices are very reasonable.
Went there over the holiday weekend for a Sunday brunch with a few friends. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table but man was it worth it. I ended up ordering the veggie sausage biscuit sandwich with gravy and home fries on the side. It might not sound like a lot but it sure fills you up. And they're home fries are unbelievable.
The only downside is that it's cash only, but that's no biggie.
I'll definitely be coming back here again.
Oh. My. Gawd. I think I just found another favorite spot for when I come "home" (whatever "home" means anymore. Am I home when I'm in my new home of SF or my old home of Philly? I digress). Thanks to my old friend, George, for informing me of this great find!
At this new favorite restaurant, I met with some favorite friends for dinner. I think it was one of the most difficult menu decisions I've ever had because everything sounded so great. And the sides!!! We first ordered a plate of hummus and pita, which was amazing. I finally decided on a churasca chimichurri with the mac & cheese and sauteed spinach. Not only was the hanger steak perfectly done (it's so easy to get tough and chewy), but the portion was HUGE! My friends' dishes were also amazine and equally huge. I didn't think I could eat another bite of anything, but we ordered the freshly baked chocolate chip cookie-bassett's ice cream sandwich. Oh my. It was so good, I ordered another cookie to take on my flight back "home" the next day.
Not only was the food amazing, but the service was as well! The servers were all incredibly nice and answered all of our endless questions about the menu thoroughly.
I am all about places that use fresh and local ingredients, are priced appropriately, and have decent portions. I can't wait to come back on my next trip and try this place for brunch! On a weekday, of course.
Can't ever go wrong with Honey's. If you head there for prime-time-brunch-time on a Saturday or Sunday, you'll likely be in for a wait of at least 20 minutes, even if you're only a party of 2 and will take a seat at the bar. But the wait is definitely worth it, as you won't be disappointed with the delicious monster-sized portions of brunch delights. The coffee is great, their carrot cake among the best in the city. I always get the biscuit and latke with my eggs, and after topping it off with some homemade blueberry jam it's to die for. I haven't tried their lunch or dinner entrees yet, I'm stuck on brunch.
Honey's serves a consistently great brunch.
I've never been there for dinner, but I definitely want to check it out.
Brought some friends from out of town in yesterday and the staff were accommodating to our big group. Our server was Jay and he was so so so sweet and attentive! The food was awesome, the atmosphere was relaxed, and we had a great time.
One thing though: We brought champagne to make mimosas with their wonderful fresh squeezed orange juice. I really wish we could've gotten a pitcher of OJ instead of cups to awkwardly pour into other cups and spill while mixing the drinks. Whatevs, it wasn't a huge deal and they didn't hassle us about the mess we made, but I'd love to see a pitcher of OJ added to the menu!
Mmmmm... just reading "Honey's Sit-N-Eat" makes my mouth water. Despite that I don't visit too often, I love, love, love this place, but I urge that getting there early is the key to truly loving it. Otherwise, you might get a little resentful and that's no good. Then again, once you take the first bite, the resentment will melt like bacon in your mouth.
The past few times I've been, I can't seem to order anything but the enfrijoladas... perfectly cooked eggs and beans in soft, toasty tortillas, topped with radish, clover, and sour cream. Delicious. That said, there are some other classics that are worth a try, like the corn bread, the fried green tomatoes and fried okra, the whole wheat pancakes, and the omelets.
The best things about this place: the servers (so nice, patient, and friendly) and the orange juice (fresh squeezed and sweet).
Holy smokes this place is... JAWSOME! Had to wait about a haf hour to get seated, but the food was definitely work the wait. With so many choices on their menu, it took about a half hour anyways to decide what I wanted to eat, so grab a menu when you check-in with the host.
If you see the grilled corn (cuban style) on their specials of the day, GET IT! Grilled corn with bbq mayo drizzled on it and rolled in queso fesca with a dash of cayenne. Unbelievable.
Their omelettes are no joke either. You'll get a fantastic thick pan made omellette. Their home fries are for real, and their corn bread muffin with drizzled honey is swiggity-sweeeeeeet!
Their customer service can't be beaten, your unlimited cup of coffee will truely be unlimited. Good luck trying to take a swig without someone behind you ready to fill it back up to the brim. For being as jam packed as it is, the wait to get our food was suprisingly quick.
This place is CASH ONLY.
I'll be coming back next time i'm in philly.
Honey's, your officially my new brunch honey!
Given the timing, we all opted for lunch-y food but it wasn't for lack of amazing looking and sounding breakfast dishes. (I was also pretty jazzed about their commitment to local produce/eggs/etc.)
Started with Latke's and Fried Green Tomatoes which were both amazing! Next, I had Turkey Club which included avocados, cranberry sauce, and the requisite bacon on tasty fresh bread. The others had the Brisket Sandwich and Turkey Burger which were also tasty... (I am a big taster of other peoples orders and luckily my friends and family indulge me!) As for sides, the fries were delish and the Mac-n-Cheese, heavenly! Next time I will have to save room for the desserts but there will definitely be many more next times for me at Honey's
Oh, and a couple of logistics... Went to Honey's this weekend for a late brunch. At ~2 pm, NO wait for either a outside or inside the restaurant and free parking across the street. And they were very "High Chair Friendly". Because sometimes, thats just how I roll.
Yes you have to wait awhile for a table, but it is well worth it! While I was there someone was angry with the host, got mad and left. Guess they are not familiar with city life and the crowd that flocks to Honey's on Sundays. The OJ is fresh squeezed and slamming! Love Honey's.
Honey's is my favorite brunch place in Philly. I've tried most of the brunch menu, and I have yet to be disappointed.
For those of you who enjoy a simple breakfast, they have that. Two eggs, choice of bread, and choice of potato. I always end up getting the corn muffin. Top it with some of that blueberry jam (will intact pieces of blueberry) and your life will be changed. The homefries and the potato latke are wonderful.
They have chili fries, corn on the cob(topped with their own special sauce), asian-style noodle salad, burritos. And suprisingly, everything is amazing.
Get there early, though. Wait times can be an hour or more during peak brunch time.
OMG! I'm in Honey Heaven!
Cute little restaurant --- very laid back atmosphere. Staff here is awesome --- on top of their game, very efficient and friendly. Wait wasn't too bad --- we opted for whatever was opened first --- we sat at the counter.
Hubby ordered the french toast with a side of eggs and scrapple with a cup of black coffee. French toast was super hot and fluffy --- coffee was brewed to perfection --- rich and dark! This was my first time trying scrapple --- good god it was so good! I'm a spam girl --- and scrapple totally blew spam outta the water!
I had the Big Boy (I think that's what it was called) --- which was one big pancake stuffed with scrambled egg and your choice of meat (I picked their homemade sausage). Our waitress was a sweetheart and suggested I have cheese with it. It sounded kinda odd ---- but oh god, it was sooo good! I tired their potato latke for the first time --- it was okay --- a bit hard for my taste --- but still very good! I also had their fresh squeezed OJ --- oh so good!
I will so come back!
Honey's Sit-N-Eat is a perfect little place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My hubby & I have been there several times and have thoroughly enjoyed each experience. My favorite? Try the Beet Salad. Loving beets is a must, but if you do, this will definitely meet all expectations. I actually wished the plate didn't end... Their veg burger is delicious, and I love the health salad. Definitely check it out, but expect to wait at brunch on the weekend. This place gets CRAZY packed :)
