632 S Coast Hwy 101It is a treat to eat here. There are so many things on the menu, basic and unique dishes. One of my favorites is the mexican bagel. It is an open face bagel with avo spread, and an omlet with green chiles, tomato, cheese and salsa on top. Their country potatoes are delish.
Seating is hard to find, most people linger around to grab an open table. Sometimes fights break out. But the food is worth the bloody nose.

I'm always on the hunt for a good brunch spot.
Ding! Found a good spot.
The food isn't expensive, it's quite yummy, people-watching is great, you're a block from the beach, and you get to hang out with other people's dogs. The omelets are delicious - I recommend either the Green Omelet, the Popeye Omelet, or any one of the various specials. They are also spot-on with their pancake and waffle options, which come with fresh fruit, + bacon and 2 eggs for an extra $2.50. Even the coffee is good - and that counts for a lot when you're talking about brunch.
It can get crowded, sure, and be prepared for a cafe/deli-like ambiance where you get a number and a waiter comes and finds you. But who cares! It's brunch near the beach. Indoors or outdoors, it's a great place to stuff your face with good food. The second-hand shops up and down the street ain't bad, either... got myself a $12 dress for the next Yelp event. :)

Ummmm....I hear about someplace on Yelp and go there after reading rave reviews, and I think, is it just ME? Why are people waxing rhapsodic about this place?
Mediocre would be a stretch here. Why was it so hard for them to substitute bacon for canadian bacon on the eggs benedict? It took them three shots to get that. The bacon with my eggs was burned, my daughter had a big clump of gross scrambled eggs in a congealed glop on her plate, and I hated the huge bread that was not toasted at all.
What am I not getting? And to top it off, the woman with her son and her grandkids next to us kept leaning her big fat butt right in our faces as she reached down for her purse or whatever. It was apropos of the breakfast. I hate that stupid order then hope for a table bs that restaurants love. I'm always filled with anxiety that I am going to be standing holding my food with no place to sit.
I'll never go there again.

Honey's is one of my favorite Encinitas breakfast places. They have a healthier, more interesting selection than many of the other downtown breakfast joints. I like the aai bowl, the granola pancakes, and the muffins. Don't worry though, they can still deliver a good omelet and toast. The green omelet is a good one, but they forgot the avocado last time I ordered it. Honey's also has a large selection of daily specials, though special may be a misnomer since some of them make fairly regular appearances.
The prices aren't dirt cheap, but they're not outrageous either. The outdoor seating is relaxed and comfortable, but the indoor seating is a little bit dark for my taste. The outdoor tables are dog friendly, and are great especially on weekend mornings, when you can watch all the people going by on 101. It gets a little crowded on the weekends, but the wait usually looks more daunting than it really is. Parking is on-street, but it's downtown Encinitas, so the worst case scenario is that you have to park 2 blocks away.
In response to the complaints about morning seating, the best thing to do is not to get a table until you've placed your order. /Begin rant/ It may be tempting to have someone save a table while you wait in line to order, but this creates a social trap. If some people take tables before ordering, the tables are unavailable for the people who's food is ready. On subsequent visits, people will take tables before ordering so they are not again without a table when their food comes. This only compounds the problem by further reducing the tables' rate of turnover. In short, If everyone gets the table only when they need it, there will be more tables available. /End rant/ Wow, that's one wordy review!

This place is so cute! The bakery items are yummy and the fresh juice and coffee drinks are equally great. Its fun to sit outside and people watch in downtown Encinitas.
I came here to eat when I was in high school.
I was impressed with their food. parking's a butt because it's on 101 and their food was basically something so easy that I could just make at hojme.

It's a nice place to get a bite to eat, but truthfully, it's not one of my first choices. I'm not averse to Honey's at all, I enjoy their food. But I just don't get excited about them.
I went there for lunch today with coworkers and got myself a coke and a BLTAvocado with a fruit side. I spent about $9.50. While I was pleased, did I really need to spend almost $10? Stuff like this makes me wonder.
I should've got the turkey burger lunch special with a nice spinach salad side which would have cost about the same. Damn you S for getting that on my suggestion!!! LOL
There seems to be some inequities in how they price their food, you think?
Ever read a restaurant review where the critic says that he or she thought twice about writing the review because they didn't want everyone to find out about the place?
This is that place. But if you read any further, you have to promise me that you will never go there because it's already impossible to get a table in the morning.
This is one fine breakfast place. You get in line, order, and then pray a table opens up before the server brings your food.
The food is inexpensive, plentiful, and everyting on the menu is delicious. And you only have about, oh, 20 different type of self-serve coffees to choose from (all you can drink, of course).
One more word to remember: Chilaquiles. Heavenly goodness.

If there's a line to the door and the tables are full, don't bother.
If there are only a few people in line and the tables are full, split your party into an ordering team and a table team and it might work out OK.
If it's reasonably empty and you don't have to squeeze in next to a squalling baby or slavering dog, you'll be happy to find an extensive menu and quick service.
All of the breakfast items I've had were good. The lunch items were less so.

I hate writing 3-star reviews because you really have to explain the "average" for an average place. OK...first off, I have a hard time reading the tiny writing on your chalkboard menu 45 feet away from me. If theline wasn't so long, I wouldn't be standing here squinting my eyes trying to make out if the menu says "Corned Beef Hash" or "Corned Beef Ass."
Secondly, is it necessary to serve 28 different varieties of coffee? It's like the soda-fountain machine at 7-11, do you need 12 different flavors of Coke? Nope. Stop with this insanity.
Thirdly, your front window-sill needs to be cleaned out. I ate outside staring at a stock-pile of dead flies stacked up in the corner. Lovely.
Lastly, your FOOD WAS GOOD....I'll be back...only because Mr. Dan likes this place, and I like him.

Probably the best breakfast for the buck you can get in Encinitas.
The blueberry pancakes are fat and the portion is large - three large pancakes with whipped butter and maple syrup.
The cheesy potatoes are freshly baked and taste great. Be prepared to share unless you have a MAJOR appetite. The bagel was so-so.
The coffee was horrific. I am a fan of Costa Rican coffee, and it was one of the fifteen or so varieties offered. It was burnt and old tasting, although temperature hot.
I can definitely overlook this when you see the price of breakfast for one person is 5$.
-= I went on a rainy day, and it was really hilarious - the roof had holes and people were getting rained on! =-

AHHHHHH - HAHHNEEEEES!!!
Although we've been there a gazillion times, we always look forward to waking up and deciding we'll go to HAHHHNEEEEES again!
Nice broad selection of coffees, super-nice staff and overall excellent breakfast and sandwich choices.
Our favorites include the green omelette, the orange pancakes, the fresh-baked bread and the chicken sausages.
Weekends are a bear finding a table but you'll manage.
One of my two favorite breakfast places in town. Homemede potato bread, very good food. You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. Sitting outside is nice. I am not a scrambled egg guy but I recently had the Italian sausage scramble. Wow it was great. They really do it right. They lose one star for not having an espresso machine. What's up with that ?!

Only ate breakfast there, has about 15 different tasty brewed coffees like Kona and vanilla nut. The granola pancakes were yummy, but its hard to mess that up. What I really go there for is they're healthy low-fat muffins, which sell out so get there early! If anyone knows better low-fat muffins, I'd love to know.

I found this place 2 weeks ago with my brother and have been there twice already and don't have one complaint.....for me, that's amazing.
For the am: the salmon poached eggs are deeeeelicious.
For the pm: the salads, especially tuna, are all really fresh, crispy and yummy.
The coffee is good, the prices are great, the atmosphere is relaxed. Officially my new favorite breakfast place.

I would love to give Honey's more stars ... mostly because I really really want to like it ... but it is just an average eatery to me.
It is crowded, admittedly, and the locals seem to love it ...
Worth a try, for sure, but not worth going out of your way for.

Not the best, unique breakfast in Encinitas. Owned by the same owner of Swami's Cafe.
The only upside to Honey's is that it's open around 5 or 5:30am. No one else in Encinitas is open that early for breakfast except for Denny's.
As long as you can endure eating breakfast outside of the standard crazy busy time zones (8:30 am to 10:30 am), then a trek to Honey's is worth the effort.
Having spent many years in Bekeley, it was certainly a transition for me to find healthy places to eat in SD, and Honey's was one of the first places I stumbled upon while living in Encinitas. Their eggs benedict is GREAT, but they don't always serve it....their French toast does not dissappoint - especially with a smothering of fresh seasonal berries.
Snag a seat up at the window, which protects you from the smog of passing by cars (especially in the summer)...while you can still enjoy the sunlight admist the random succulents and plants in the sill.
Oh, but bring along your furry friends, as the outdoor seating is dog-friendly...yay! :)
Keep in mind that since many of the staffers work from the wee hours of the morning, they may not be that friendly...which is more often true than not. They also started serving dinner last year...but there are many other better dinner options on the same street.
Good food, though the price was a little higher than expected. The salad is fresh and the tuna melt was good. The pasta salad was a little dryer than my preference, but the fries were pretty good.
I'd recommend the grilled sandwiches, which are great during lunch.
This place is DA BOMB! Try the acai, fruit and yogurt plate. Their sandwiches are also good. My man always is satisfied with their scrambles... I'm not much of an egg person myself. I love the coffee selection too. The staff is friendly and fast. Also, it is in the entertainment coupon book so check it out.

I work right in town near Honey's and had to stop going because they screwed up my order like 10 times in a row. the food is decent, nothing to write home about. locals want to love it so they go but i don't think anyone actually has a great experience there. could be great, totally misses the ball.

Kinda long line, but worth the wait!
The entire menu looked delicious, but I went for lunchtime with co-workers and everything was great! I had the salmon caesar salad, and it came with two huge, thick slices of garlic toast...mmmm.
Their homemade soups are highly recommended (esp, the chicken tortilla), and the hearty portions are sure to fill you up...in a good way! Plenty of vegetarian and meat-loving options...also offer a lot of sides to make it a little more on the healthy side.
I'm definitely going to have to get there for a weekend breakfast very soon at try out the omelettes...

Variety of coffee to choose from, thick Texas toast, tasty home made preserves, wonderful muffins, green omelet with plenty of vegetables, and their home made corn beef hash are some of my favorite things at this little Encinitas California breakfast restaurant on the Pacific Coast Highway 101. Their service is something to be desired of especially during the weekends when the place gets packed.

Yummmmmmmm!!! Somehow I missed out on Honeys all throughout my childhood and teen years and just went the first time a few months ago. Don't know how I managed that 'cause it is so good!
First off is their selection of about 20 coffees you can pour while you wait in line to order. I love good coffee and they'll got tons of flavors to choose from.
The service is always nice and friendly. They let my crazy mom and I edit our orders to exactly what we want and let us substitute side dishes as well. For breakfast, I love their omelets and scrambles with sides of potatoes and fruit! The Green Omelete has, well, green veggies: spinach, asparagus, onions, zucchini avocado, etc and was great even for a non-vegetarian like me. The Southwest one (forget the name) I had last time off the specials board was delish as well- chicken sausage, onion, mushrooms, tomato, etc. The Specials of the Day board is always a winner in my book.
Seating and wait can be a tiny pain like any small and crowded breakfast joint on a Sunday morning, but it is well worth it to me and part of the experience!

I love Honeys, that is all I can say. I love the coffee, I love the food, I love the cozy atmosphere coupled with the easy-going lifestyle that accompanies living at the beach. I love that I am able to walk here from the beach and sit outside on a sunny day and eat delicious food and chat with friends while people, and dogs coast by. There is not just one thing that makes Honeys a great place, but a combination of things. Whether its just a quick bakery product or a full-fledged meal, Honeys can handle it. God I wish I was back in Encinitas!

O yeah baby!!!! If you go to Encinitas this place is a must for breakfast. A favorite local spot that is jam packed in the morning but still enough room to enjoy a nice breakfast to start your morning off right. I love the basic stuff here. Great coffee and tons of flavor options for all different folks. My favorite thing on the menu is the fresh fruit, granola with yogurt. Its simple but sooooooo good. Hard to find good granola breakfast anymore but this is the place for it. You will have to go there to find out for yourself. Pancakes and waffles looked quite delish as well...maybe on my next visit.

maybe its not fair of me to write a review, cause i probably haven't been here in almost a year. i used to LOVE this place, but then suddenly it just got kinda gross. maybe it was me burning out on it, but i really think the quality of the food changed.
check it out, but try it on a weekday when there's not a long line out the door.
do still love the huge selection of coffee options and the heavy OG-style cafe mugs you get...
oh yeah, sit outside and watch the ENC mayhem unfold. My BF watched a road biker ride INTO a parking car, the cops show up and the whole bit. he still loves to talk about it...

Although Honey's has a good vibe. I'm not that crazy about the food. However it is always busy and they do have a menu that features healthy items. Don't order their salmon dishes...I think I had Salmon and eggs and it was very salty. Stick to the simpler things such as salads and other omelets and you'll be fine. They also have great healthy muffins. I think it's owned by the same owners of Swamis just down the road.

Honey's is one of my favorite health concious spots for breakfast, snacks or lunch... (especially if I can get one of the little tables in the window)...Awesome Iced Tea! The Peach Raspberry (low-fat) muffins are out of this world good. If you like your greens... try the Green Omelet.. loaded with asparagus, green peppers, spinach, zucchini and topped with fresh avo... served with just baked toasty Potato Bread (my favorite part is the sesame seed crust)...

Honey's has great food, a huge selection of coffee and really tasty fresh-squeezed juice. You can sit in or outdoors, the atmosphere is comfortable, and there are many options to choose from.
It is one of my favorites that I would go back to again and again.

Honey get yourself on down to Honey's!!!! I absolutely love this place for breakfast on a warm Southern Cal morning! The thing I love MOST about this place is that they are also health conscious and offer a variety of delicioso breakfast items for those that love to go out for breakfast but don't want to gain those famous breakfast pounds.
Are you in the mood for a savory smoked salmon scramble or Greek omelette? Go to Honey's. Are you in the mood for something sweet, like Granola Belgian Waffle with Blueberries? Go to Honey's. Your Mexican side kicking in (I know mine always does) and crave Chilaquiles or a huge Breakfast Burrito? Go to Honey's. Granola and big bowl of fresh fruit? Honey's.
Not up for a big sit down feast? No worries! They have an awesome assortment of goodies to grab. Not just a big bagel supply, but an INCREDIBLE selection of ridiculously good low-fat muffins. And these aren't those b.s. starbucks low-fat pieces of cardboard crap (which if you look at the nutrition guide aren't really low fat!). These are true muffins that you can enjoy without the guilt.
There is even a self-serve coffee bar i think should be mandatory at every breakfast place. This time I opted for Hawaiian Hazelnut. My usual, the Kona. A lot of others I saw diving for the Rainforest.
Next time I am in town I will be sure to go and grab myself a low-fat raspberry peach and a Mexican hot chocolate.
I wish I had Honey's in my hood in San Fran or New York. Honestly.
