In addition to friendly service and a good sense of humor, this really is the best ham I've ever had. And I've eaten a lot of ham.

Dear Honey Bear Ham Company,
Thank you so much for making one of your employees dress as the Easter Bunny this morning. While I was unable to stop in for ham on my way to work, it make me smile so big that I'll make an excuse in the future to come in for any ham needs.
Sincerely,
Bridget "You Cheered Up My Day" S. -

I was hosting a small gathering for Thanksgiving and didn't want to deal with the ham/oven in my own kitchen. I've done it before but didn't have the time this year.
Since there was only four of us, the owner of Honey Bear Ham suggested half a ham. I ordered ahead and had to pick up the night before Thanksgiving. The place was smoky, filled with bears, and there was a long line of people waiting to pick up their hams.
It looked like they only had a few small half hams left, but when I got up to the counter they were happy to see me.
"Oh- you're the one who gets one of the last small hams. Other people saw it but we were saving it for you!"
Good thing, because it was still enormous. It was pre-sliced so no one needed to pretend they knew how to carve. All I had to do was let it sit at room temperature for an hour before serving. They suggest not sticking it whole in the oven because it's already cooked and will get dry. If you need to warm some up, cut off the pieces you want warmed, wrap up in some foil, stick in the oven, and then eat it.
All in all, a great success. I would come here again to get more ham - they even have it already cut by the pound! -

I've been driving past this place for years and always smile at the person dressed as a bear or as bunny for Easter. This year I made a u-turn and went in and got a ham. Since I did not order ahead, the selection was slim but they still got me set up and next time I will order ahead.
My family snarffed this ham down, it was so tasty and it is a huge time saver in that you serve it at room temp. Just pull it out of the fridge an hour or two ahead of service and spend your time making yummy sides knowing the main dish will be wonderful!
Highly recommend! -

We ordered a ham in early December for Christmas. As the month went on the number in our gathering had changed. I called a few days before we were to pick up the ham and they changed the order without a problem.
As suggested, we served the ham at room temperature, which made the party prep a snap. It was nothing short of amazing. Hands down the best ham everyone at our party had ever tasted. Everyone commented on how good it was and that it was NOT at all salty like other hams can get.
Now I wave at the dancing bear every time it is outside drumming up business. We will certainly be back...I'd really like to try the smoked turkey they offer too! -

Hands down, the best kooky window displays in the whole of Chicago.
Advertising HAM with stuffed bears, toy furniture and polystyrene - COULD IT GET ANY BETTER?
Yes yes it does.... over Thanksgiving they dress one (or more) of their employees up in giant bear costumes, and these bears stand on the side of Grand Avenue, waving at the traffic and handing people leaflets. Unfortunately I didn't get a snap of the bears in action, but I have uploaded a couple of pics of their window displays. (Unfortunately missing the Christmas one)
PS - I don't tend to buy ham, ever, but I REALLY appreciate their theatricality.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Another one of my go-to places when it comes for ham for a special occasion like Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Unlike some similar operations, the quality of a Honey Bear Ham is quite superior as they don't use any artificial smoke flavoring. If you are not quite convinced, walk by, or step inside and smell the delicious goodness for yourself!
I usually tend to get a slightly bigger ham than I need for the occasion, since leftover ham works great in sandwiches, soups and other concoctions. (and since my family usually fights for leftovers too!)
There is street parking around the neighborhood, but you may find it easier to park south of Grand, rather than trying to get that perfect spot on Grand. They take credit cards, and they usually recommend to order ahead on busy holidays (but if you are like me, you forget, and have to wait in line a little bit for your half ham). The people that own and work at the place are pretty friendly as well. This is not a corporate run franchise by any means. -

This is the only place to go for spiral cut ham. Period. We love ham and have it at most holiday feasts. We've tried all the competition but Honey Bear is the best.

THE BEST HAM EVER!!!! Need a sprial cut ham.....and don't want it dried out...then pick up a Honey Bear Ham and DON'T WARM IT!!! Just unwrap and serve at room temp. That's it, That's all you have to do to serve the BEST ham your guests will ever taste. While it's not "cheap"...you get what you pay for....and this is well woth the cost.

This place is awesome! I like that it's family owned - I think the product is of higher quality than Honey Baked, for a better price. They also offer a great selection of incredible mustards / sauces. Transfer them to a cute bowl and your guests will think you spent hours making special sauces. Great for out-of-town visitors and the leftovers make awesome sandwiches too.
