My hometown crew chose Homewood Suites for out meeting place/crashing point for one of our semi-annual reunions while we were all back in town for the holidays. Pretty great for the price, 2 rooms with queen beds and a pull out couch (I'm pretty sure they were queen... but dibs on them went to the couples in the group, leaving the singletons to duke it out for the pull out couch and the cot)... oh and did I mention a fireplace?!?

As Michele D wrote, this hotel isn't within walking distance of anything else, but there are plenty of options only a short drive away. I had little personal experience with the staff there (except for the friendly front desk guy that greeted me when I walked in) since my friends had arrived before me and already took care of checking in. But, throughout our one night stay, the hotel was more than accommodating... from helping us out when we forgot a corkscrew for our wine to bringing up an extra fold out cot. (We even nearly called down to see if they happened to have a supply of Ace bandages since my friend forgot to bring one for her knee... but decided not to push our luck). One early riser among us made it down for the continental breakfast, but alas, I was not she... oh well, maybe next time.

My only complaint was that the 'non-smoking' room we got somehow reeked upon entering... the smell faded once we were in for a while (probably due to getting used to the smell because every time we left and reentered, it was anew... For the most part though, it was a great stay and I'd definitely stay here again if in the area and in need of a hotel.

When I'm spending more than a few nights in one place, I like a room that has a microwave, fridge, and a little stove (just in case I get a really WILD hair and choose to cook).  Rarely use the stove (although when I've been TDY I have cooked when tired of eating out), but having the micro and fridge is a necessity.  After all, I need a place to store ice cream and beer!

I checked into Homewood on a Sunday afternoon.  It was so cold in Warwick (how do those folks do it?), so I was happy to see the free coffee in the dining area (and gotta love those flavored creamers).  I was waiting for the rest of my crew to arrive, so I did what I love to do when killing time.  Surf the net.  For FREEEEEEE.  Free, y'all!  Not 12.00, but FREE.  Nice.

One of my team mates was on his way to the hotel but got lost.  I happen to be standing near the front desk and asked the gentleman at the desk what the best way was to guide someone over the phone to the hotel.  He took over immediately.  He got on my phone and patiently vectored my colleague in.

Later that evening, the same gentleman, Elan, provided a restaurant recommendation for Harbourside Lobstermania.  He knew I was serious about eating local food, and he did not disappoint.  Elan was very helpful during my week long stay; he puts customers first!

Homewood provides free breakfast in the morning.  It includes 2 hot dishes (i.e. eggs & bacon), bread for toast, fruit, cereal, yogurt, a waffle bar, oatmeal, and of course, juice and coffee.  Even a healthy eater like me can get mine.

Homewood also provides evening meals with an entree of some sort and a minimal salad bar.  They also serve beer (Natural Light) and wine.  I would not recommend the evening meals when there are so many wonderful places within driving distance.

The hotel itself isn't within walking distance of anything.  The staff is pleasant, there is a small gym consisting of treadmills and free weights, and a parking lot of their own (no charge to park).

If you can handle the strong chlorine smell near the elevators, you'll be ok.

If you're going to be in town a few days, I would recommend this place to meet your basic needs.
