Great hotel; everything you could ask for:

Clean rooms, friendly staff, full kitchen, separate bedroom from the living room, and location, location, location!  Plus they offer complimentary breakfast!

We will definately be staying here again!

The  Homewood Suites in Chicago is a great and affordable hotel.   This is pretty much my preferred hotel when I come to the Windy City, not least because it's part of the Hilton family so I can accumulate Hilton Honors Points.

The location on East Grand is perfect.   You're basically in the heart of River North with a PF Chang's and Fleming's both less than a block away.   In fact, there are tons of good restaurants within a 3 block radius so you won't have to go far to grab a tasty bite to eat.

Amenities are good.   I personally didn't care much for their breakfast (complimentary, might I add) but then again I'm lucky that I can get my meals reimbursed.   If I had to pay, then I probably would go for the free breakfast.   The rooms are nice with a separate living room area and a TV in both the living room and bedroom.   I am a bit disappointed, though, that the fridge doesn't have an ice maker.  Of course, they will bring you ice if you request it.  Also, the TV doesn't allow purchasing of on demand programs.   Kind of a bummer...

Still, all in all a great hotel with good value!

I stay here often when I'm in Chicago for business. The location is great. I've always been impressed with the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. As others have mentioned, they offer a free breakfast daily and dinner on certain days. I can't speak for the dinner, but the breakfast is better than most complimentary hotel breakfasts. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago.

Overall very satisfied and would stay again for a reasonable price. We used Hilton points, so it actually ended up being very expensive.

Grand Ave. is a one-way street. Be sure to get good directions before departing (GPS failed us because it didn't recognize the one-way).

The entrance is tiny, just the valet. You take the elevator up to the 6th floor check in.

Room was nice. Includes a full kitchen. A traveler could save serious money by eating in and buying groceries at the jewel osco about a block away.

Breakfast was great. Included fresh fruit, even. Eggs, potatoes, etc. Gets pretty busy, line waiting for seating.

    Nice pool.

Small workout area - 1 bike, 1 elliptical, 1 treadmill. That could use improvement. personal TVs though.

    Would go again.

Perfect hotel for a casual stay with a group. We had three suites for a group of 12. Each suite had a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living  room.  The decor is servicible and clean - nothing fancy but good enough for a 3 star hotel. The grocery service was a huge convenience and the order I faxed to the hotel a week before was perfectly filled. Be aware that they only have 3 DVD players for the whole hotel so you have to reserve in advance and hope.

The nice surprise was the breakfast and dinner served Sun - Thurs. Our group enjoyed having the opportunity to eat warm, tasty meals after a long day of shopping and site seeing. I was very surprised at the quality of the meals because I'm a picky eater. This wasn't 5 star dining but good cafeteria style food.

The location can't be beat. We were 5 - 15 minutes walk from just about everything in downtown including the watertower, Gino's pizza, Grand Luxe, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom tack among other spots.  Even with it being cold and rainy we could still walk to shopping and sights.

The staff was friendly and helpful. A+. They could teach some more upscale hotels a thing or two about making a guest feel welcome.

Ideal location right in the heart of the Near North side but good grief, they need more than two elevators.  You can wait 10 minutes for an elevator and if you happen to be on the first floor (registration desk on 6th floor), you can face a long line just to catch one.  Rooms are from the same cookie cutter as all Homewood Suites - very utilitarian; unlike many locations however, this one does not include a DVD player in the rooms.  The pool is OK but there's no jacuzzi.  Oh, and housekeeping is deficient when it comes to keeping the towels stocked in the pool area.  Front desk service is pretty good.

Sheila was working with me at first and was later promoted to a different position in the hotel. She was very responsive to my emails and prompt. She answered all of my questions within the half hour that I emailed her if it was a business day. The price quote that the hotel was able to give me was phenomenal considering this hotel was all suites. Also, there were no charges if my room block didn't get filled. They just cancel the rooms that didn't get blocked.

Even though it's nothing fancy, I loved the fact that it was centrally located downtown, near public transit, and was a great money for the amount of space you get in the room. She set up my hotel block and everything is smooth for now.

Alec took over for her and made sure he introduced himself to me. He was also able to answer all the questions I had. During the month of my wedding, Alec gave my guests a two week extension to book their rooms. All of my guests enjoyed their stay. I would recommend other brides to block their rooms at the Homewood Suites.

This hotel provides everything you need AND then some for a reasonable price.

Location: walking distance to N Michigan Ave, several downtown restaraunts, and the Navy Pier. TIP:25-30 min cab ride (about $28) from Chicago Midway. Airport Shuttle leaves daily every 30mins from the Marriot around the corner for about $20. On the red line (grand ave stop) ,walking distance to Enterprise Rental Car, N Michigan Ave, and supermarket.

Rooms:Each room has a separate living area, bedroom, full kitchen with microwave, fridge, utensils, etc, 2 flat screen TVs, and are well kept.

Service: Great from top to bottom. Doorman and valet as you walk in, check in on the 6th floor. Staff throughout the hotel were more than accommodating. I was able to ask the desk staff where to get some good grub and find a supermarket and they were able to provide turn by directions. I even overslept the day I was leaving and was able to arrange a cab ride to Midway Airport on short notice.

Free Breakfast/Dinner: Free Breakfast is offered daily and free Dinner is offered monday-thursday evenings. The breakfast buffet was pretty solid and offered eggs, sausage/bacon, potatoes, fruit, juices, yougurt, andcoffee/tea. To go containers are available as well.

Recreation:  Gym and pool are located on top floor with a 24 hr internet and printer ready business center on the 6th floor.

All in all, you can't beat it with a stick..yeah, I said it!

affordable, downtown site.  I was not crazy about the elevator wait at the street level and on the 6th floor. Things get backed up with only two elevators and tons of guests coming and going. Good place for families.
Staff was friendly, even made dinner reservations for us.

Dynamite location! This is a nice, low key city hotel. Not a place for folks who want/need fancy, it's clean, affordable and right in the middle of the near North Side. The one room suites have a small kitchen but you don't really need it because the free breakfast is more than I ever need for breakfast and on weekdays, the manager's 'welcome home' reception is a light supper with beer and wine. Now, you should be out there yelping for the many great restaurants in Chicago but, if you're on a budget, a bit to eat before going out allows less expensive small plate/appetizer meals and more for the evening entertainment.

The doormen were friendly, the front desk helpful (they handled a FEDEX delivery nicely) and the maid service unobtrusive.  A block from the red line for easy, car-free getting around.  I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

To everyone who wants a nice comfy stay in the heart of the city for a great price, stay here! This place kicks booty. Seriously!

Definitely a must-stay if you want to stay in the heart of the city, soak in the great sites of Chicago, and save money on cab fare. (Trust me, you do not save money by rooming somewhere outside the city. Saving $60 a night on a hotel 30 min outside the city quickly builds up to $100+ fees per day through commuting by taxi. Curse you, Hotwire!)

First of all, our room wasn't ready and the concierge holds your things in a secured area the entire day and it only costs a mere tip for their services. So we arrived about 10 am, had them hold our things until we finally checked into our room about 10 pm.

The next day, we checked out, but decided to stay in the city for some sightseeing. They came to our rescue by holding our things after we checked out until we were ready to leave the city about 9:30pm that day. I gave them $20 tip for their services. They definitely deserved it!

All service was extremely friendly and accomodating, our room was nice and roomy (separate area for the living room/kitchen and bedroom/bathroom) and had a spectacular view of the city!

In the morning, they have a free hot breakfast buffet. And if you want swimming with a view, the top floor has a pool.

This is a very nice place with great views and comfortable beds.  Very close to great shopping and 1/2 block from Joe's Steak and Stone Crab.  Close to the subway if you are going to a concert or ballgame.  Good service by staff, especially at the door..

We used this hotel for our out of town wedding guests and ourselves the night of our wedding.  Melah and the entire Homewood Suites team was amazing to work with and very attentive.  The rate includes breakfast which was a big hit with our family and friends.  It also provided another opportunity to see everyone the morning after the wedding.  Overall, a great value for the rate that they provided with the block of rooms and as a bride I couldn't be happier with the accommodations.  Even the bell hops were great!

I had a really outstanding experience at the Homewood Suites while traveling on business.  It's right in downtown/magnificent mile near most conferences.  The room/suite was huge with a full kitchen.  The free breakfast (and dinner M-Th, with wine) was actually pretty good for the midwest.  The staff was enthusiastically helpful.  The price ($135 with AAA rate) was agreeable.  I also got free use of the Crunch Fitness gym next door, which was amazing.

I'd recommend staying here and walking to your conference nearby.. it's a much better experience than the standard corporate fare in Chicago.

I was in dire need of a staycation but wanted to stay within budget limits and stay at a Hilton property to earn miles and points, so I chose this hotel.  They have one bedroom suites ($94.50 with AAA rate for a Friday night), which have a separate living area, frig, kitchen sink, 2 burner stove, and microwave.  The only room service is PF Changs, but there is a Jewel and Dominick's within a few blocks, as well as a gazillion restaurants.  The decor of the room was pretty ugly and not as soothing as I had hoped, but the bathroom was quite big, there were TVs in both rooms, and the bed was comfy.  There was a nice fitness room with 2 treadmills, a bike, and an elliptical, all with the attached individual TV screens, exercise balls, and free weights.  There was also an indoor pool.  Guests of the hotel also have free access to Crunch, which is adjacent to the hotel.  The breakfast buffet (included) had a decent selection of foods and tasted okay for a hotel buffet, and I really appreciate that they had to-go containers, so I could take it back to my room. (Monday-Thursday they also have a free light dinner with wine and beer).  There was also a business center with computers, printers, etc, but I did not use it during my stay.
Front desk service was friendly and informative.
I would stay here again, or recommend it to anyone looking for a budget stay.

The Homewood Suites is a very pleasant property in downtown, though it is not that well-known. Take the elevator up to the lobby level to check in. The interiors have a homey appearance, so no wild designs or flourishes here. The rooms are like mini-suites, with a separate bedroom, full kitchen with more appliances than my own kitchen, and a sofabed in the living area. We did not pull out the sofabed, but it would have filled up most of the room if fully extended. The breakfast buffet is free to all guests, and it is not bad at all. There is an indoor pool on one of the higher floors.

This was our main hotel for our guests for our wedding. We liked it because the rooms were all suites, and were all very nice. If you need a place where people can split a room this is a great option. All the rooms had kitchens as well, which we didn't really need, but it was nice to have. Rooftop pool was nice, as were the views. Free hot breakfast buffet in the morning was great too. Food was better than I had expected. Another plus when you have people visiting from out of town and you don't want them to have to worry about having to find a place to eat in the morning. Overall, no major probems, great rooms, decent price.

This place is a total steal. For $160 a night, we were able to stay in a room with two rooms and a kitchen. The kitchen included a dishwasher, refrigerator, sink, even dishes. They also serve free breakfast and free dinner.. there was no room service though. Next time, I think I'll book this hotel here and stay longer so I can get some use of the kitchen. Located in Downtown, the hotel is also right across from Nordstroms and a small mall and right next a good sushi restaurant, Oysy. You really don't need to leave the block!

For the area a very inexpensive priced hotel with many advantages.
When you enter there will be a doorman.  He is there as a valet and also to open the door for folks.  Not bad.  You then go up to the sixth floor to check in.  There is tea, coffee, hot cocoa and spiced cider there too.  The person working check in was courteous.  There is also a mini store there but there is a Jewel-Osco close by so you can get things a little cheaper.  The rooms are huge (got a king suite).  Full kitchen, sitting area, door into bedroom, lots of empty space in the bedroom.
Laundry room on seventh floor.  Only two washers and two driers but they don't seem to be used much ($1.50 per use -- quarters at front desk).  The work out room -- some of the machines didn't work.  There was a sign to use "Crunch" but that place closed a while ago.  There are free weights there too.  The pool is okay.  The view is nice (19th floor).
I couldn't get my laptop to work in the pool area.
Breakfast was phenomenal.  a lot of options and plenty of seating.
Monday through Thursday is evening food too and there is plenty there too.
Rates -- I paid 89.10 for a king suite.  I'm sure it goes up and down as the seasons go but this was a great rate for what they give you.
Also, didn't use the heat (and this is January) because the heat from every other place kept this room warm.  Might even run the a/c at times.
House keeping was terrific even with my whacked out schedule.  They were super.
Only ding against the place was that anyone could take the elevator up to any floor.  Very low security in that respect.  Other hotels require a key to get past the lobby but then they have one elevator go to the lobby and another to the rooms.  This hotel doesn't have that.
