Review from J C.
Orange County, CA
This was my first stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton, and I gotta say that it won't be my last. I spent the night here during a short business trip to Reno. I spent 2 days in Reno which, with all due respect to Reno residents, was 1 day too many. I picked Homewood Suites wanting to stay away from the spectacle (i.e. those wicked neon lights and noise) of the Reno casinos. Plus, this hotel is conveniently located a few miles away from the airport.
There was plenty of free self-parking (no ridiculously priced valet parking), and the parking lot was well lit. Check-in was a breeze, and they even serve a quasi-dinner buffet that consists of a few entree items (it was chicken cutlet that night), assorted snacks and drinks that were complimentary to all hotel guests.
I love the lay out of the rooms. You walk in and there is a mini-kitchen, complete with full size fridge, sink, coffee maker w/assorted coffees/teas, microwave, stove, dishwasher (?) and everything you need if you wanted to cook up a meal; there is also a small table with chairs; a separate living room area with a couch and flat panel tv; and a separate bedroom with another flat panel tv; toiletries were from Neutragena; and thankfully the shower had great water pressure. I hate those typical hotel low-flow, water saving shower heads....not a problem here though.
There's a complimentary breakfast buffet that had a decent selection of hot and cold breakfast items. Nothing fancy, but a great value for the business traveler.
They also provide free internet access via a card they give you upon check-in. I never understand why business hotels like this give you free internet access, but I always have to pay for internet access when I stay at higher-end hotels like the Four Seasons or the Fairmont while on vacation.
The only minor flaws I could find were that the sheets were not the highest quality...i.e. they were scratchy as all get out, and the pillows, although plenty, were not that comfortable.
Overall though, great hotel experience and I'd definitely stay there again. Check out my pics and see for yourself. -

Nice suite and full kitchen. Comp
breakfast gets marks for real hard boiled eggs but rest of breakfast bland and fatty. Decent exercise room but pool area not vented quite enough. -

We stayed here at the front and tail end of our ski trip. Even though we had a minor problem when we got here (key machine doesn't work, and the hotel staff have to let you into your room!), we really liked this place. The meals they provide at Homewood are usually very good value, incl. the evening reception with complimentary beer and wine. Staff is super friendly and helpful. If you want to ski north Tahoe, and don't want to pay the resort price, using Reno as a base is not a bad plan, especially for Mt. Rose (less than 30 min.), or even Northstar and others.

I hate to give this rating being a Hilton Honors Point member. But 2nd time in a roll we had gotten room where things just do not work. First time it was the toilet clogging. This time, the AC did not work intermittently, the refrigerator was screaming and they said the maintenance crew had already gone home. And then the smoke alarm detector went off, it caused more stress than what I had bargained for. Otherwise a nice facility, this is too bad.

Review from Liza N.
South San Francisco, CA
We had a 5star overall experience - from the time we made our reservations to when we departed. A definitely home away from home appeal & of course the breakfast in the mornings and dinner (offered Sunday-Thurs) is a huge plus when traveling with the family. The room was perfect with a little kitchen, dining room table, a pull out sofa for the kids and the bed was comfy - we loved the excessive amount of pillows which was a plus & the kids did too (pillow fight!) We will definitely be back :)

I wish I could give four and a half stars. This place was wonderful for my family. My autistic son adored the room, the comfy beds, everything. Clean and very well managed, with great service. Breakfast was nice with lots of variety. The pool was a wonderful thing, small and not crowded, and we spent hours there with my son who loves to swim. The only problem was that the steps on the pool are slippery, and both my husband and my son slipped while getting in. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience and I would love to stay there again and recommend it to others wholeheartedly!

brand new property and full of bright colors! the front desk (esp. the general manager, jim) and morning kitchen staff were polite and professional. the rooms are spacious and VERYYY clean! i like the orange comforter and the design of the rooms. i stayed at a one bedroom suite with 2 queen beds in it. even though, i only stayed for one night, i felt right at home =] i also checked out their pool area with a friend and i was impressed. the only bad thing was it is an indoor pool, meaning you cant really enjoy the sun during summer days! but you have waterparks to do that anyways. the business center was cozy. the chair was comfortable! the breakfast was great. it varies each day, but there were eggs, sausage patties, and potatoes( for hot breakfast) then you have cereal, fruits, pastries, yogurt, juice & etc. i highly recommend this hotel if you want to get away from the typical hotels in reno.
