2 reviews for Homewood Suites Airport West
This review is way past due. Homewood Suites Airport West was my home for a whole month, while on detail for my employer. The staff is extremely kind and accommodating, and couldn't have made my stay more enjoyable. The rooms are kind of on the small side, but they are very nice. We were supposed to stay at the Candlewood Suites, but Homewood Suites where I stayed (I was so glad after hearing cockroach stories from other employees that stayed at Candlewood!!). One negative about the hotel though, is it's right by the freeway, which is nice and convenient, but makes it hard to turn left onto the road, to get to the freeway.
The suite style rooms had large flat screen tv's in the living room area, as well as the bedroom. The kitchens had granite counter tops, and full sized refrigerators. The beds were extremely comfortable, and very easy to sleep in. The first night I arrived, I was exhausted. I went up to my room, unpacked my stuff, and went right to sleep. When I got up in the morning, i looked out my window and realized I had a horrible view of the industrial area the hotel sits in. As much as I hated to move after being completely all unpacked, I went down to the front desk and asked if I could have a room with a view of the pool. I normally wouldn't do this, but I was going to be here for a month, and couldn't take the bad view for that long. They were very nice and switched my rooms without a problem.
The hotel has pretty good amenities. The pool is nice sized, no jacuzzi though. The Hilton Gardens hotel next door does, and would let me go over and use their jacuzzi, which was nice. The exercise room is tiny, however it has a very nice treadmill with a flatscreen tv mounted. Also an elliptical, and I think a bike. Noone ever seemed to use the room, so I never had to fight anyone over the equipment.
The kitchen staff were awesome. I didn't eat much there, even though they served breakfast and dinner every day. I would go down all the time though for the coffee that they had available 24/7. The kitchen staff knew me and would always say hi when I came down for my coffee or to sneak a banana. I felt bad about not saying goodbye when I left.
Lastly, the housekeeping comes every day. I tried to make it so they wouldn't have to clean up after me every day, or if they did, tell them not to worry about vacuuming every day. Some did not speak English, so it was hard communicating, but they were all extremely sweet, and very trustworthy. This being said, when I left for home, I forgot my camera charger, that I had plugged in the wall. I called the hotel a day or two after I left to ask about it. They told me that the housekeeping found my charger, and mailed it to me. I was so happy, and this just topped off the great experience I had there. If I ever have to go back to Miami, and am not staying in South Beach, I will definitely return to Homewood Suite Airport West!!
Wasn't expecting too much pulling up and surveying the surrounding area. Nice building, just in weird airport part of town.
All the staff go the extra mile to take care of their customers. It seems that they have really taken the, "we know you have choices when choosing your accommodations" to heart. All the staff are courteous and friendly, eager to be of service. That is a big seller for me, people trying to earn your business.
Rooms are spacious and affordable. They are mini suites with a full kitchen including mini stove and fridge, separate bedroom with pillow top mattress, and flat screen plasmas in both rooms.
The pool is on the smaller side but never crowded. The gym could use some definite improvement, it is just an elliptical, a treadmill, and a bike machine. No hot tub either but you can walk next door.
I probably would have only given three stars but the staff worked me up an extra star. Great affordable place to stay for longer visits, comfy and homey.
