I once setup shop in this joint for a couple of weeks.

I dragged a monster tower PC, a 19" flat panel monitor and various other peripherals in here and cable locked the whole mess to the giant desk. The cleaning lady (who only comes in like twice a week here) probably thought it was a little strange to find a giant computer system setup in there. The desk guy just raised an eyebrow as I wheeled gear past him and into the elevator. Whatever. Nothing beats a desktop; even my rocking laptop that I have now, doesn't even come close.

The internet was rock solid and fast. WIFI if I recall correctly.

Prices are cheap for long stays. No complaints there. They had some weird way of getting you in after 10pm though. I can't remember what it was, but it was annoying. The whole place was kind of old and not great, but the rooms have kitchens and are comfortable enough.

It was dead silent (both from street and neighbor noise) and there is a decent selection of dining and shopping in San Carlos (nearby).

My boyfriend and I have been staying here for 10 days now while he and I look for apartments in Redwood City and SF, respectively. (We just moved here from the midwest.) The room was the cheapest extended stay we could find in the area, and we are really getting what we pay for.

This hotel lacks the amenities you expect with an extended stay-- no printing services, no laundry machines, no desk in the room, and you have to pay for wireless internet. By the way, the wireless sucks. It was good at first, but then they changed ISP's (and it was down for a whole day, which is a pain when you're trying to find an apartment off craigslist.) Now it is extremely unreliable, dropping out at random moments.

Also, they would not give us the full-week discount because we did not book a full week in advance, and the front desk people were always absent or surly, even when we were requesting standard things like replacing a key card that stopped working. There is a maid service that is provided free once a week, but on our 8th day here when I called the front desk to ask why the room hadn't been cleaned, I was told that it would be on Tuesday-- the day we move out. (Eventually did get the room cleaned though, after some talk.)

However, the actual room itself is ok.

I've been commuting back and forth from Livermore to Redwood City for three months, and decided to do this as an option while I find a place close to work.

Given, some stuff is self-service, so yes you've got to clean your own room up and you've got to go down to the front desk to get your own towels if you need them (or you can pay a little bit more).

We've been here a month, and so far, absolutely every issue we've had, from the smallest to the biggest, has been handled amazingly.  The staff here is awesome and approachable.  I'm seriously considering keeping my room for another couple months.

For the person who said there's no laundry machines...there are six washers, six dryers, and this is a standard offering at this chain (dollar-fifty wash, dollar fifty dry, and about 2 washer loads will fit into one dryer.)

I've stayed in this chain before, so I know what I'm getting.  The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that only the "King" and "Deluxe" rooms have desks, and the difference between the Queen and the King is fairly significant.

The wireless is a bit slow at times (mainly in the evenings), I'm willing to bet other guests are running p2p apps or whatnot.  But it's by no means unusable.

One caveat: if you're looking for a decent deal for a longer stay, just call the place and ask for their rates -- their website is seriously flawed and won't tell you better than the weekly rate no matter how long a stay you specify.
