Category: Furniture Stores [Edit]
Neighborhood: Brooklyn/Cobble HillCarroll St (F, G)
I did not like this store. Small store, small selection. I saw a few interesting pieces but they did not have the furniture set up in an appealing fashion.
The sales rep was NOT friendly to me in the store, he seemed to be barely tolerating me. He gave me a half-ass explanation as to why they hardly had any items in the store (small sizes of Brooklyn stores). He directed me to two books on a table where I could flip thru and order merchandise. I could go to a cut-rate futon store if I wanted to do that! I'm not going to buy furniture before trying it out & looking at it in person!
I walked out of the store and he didn't even acknowledge me leaving.
And the fact that they don't have a website gave me a bad feeling about them from jump, but I still went to visit their location and I was sorely disappointed.

I walked in to check out the place and see what stuff they have available. The selection on the floor seemed pretty decent. I think they only had one sales person working and he was busy with a customer, so I just walked around. Checked out the books they had lying around to see what other furniture they have that's not being displayed on the floor. Had quite a bit for living room type furniture, but I didn't see a large desk/office type furniture (which is what I was mainly interested in).
Didn't matter much because I walked to the back and saw a desk-setup that I liked and then left because I wanted to think about it.
My room-mate (on his own) went to the store an hour or so later and wanted to get the same desk (3 pieces, but he wanted 2 pieces and I wanted the 3rd, weird!) and ended up buying it. I told him to get all 3.
Since we're local residents, delivery was free and in our apartment in 2 days.
Prices were good and from what I could tell, they have a pretty decent selection and also offer assembly of furniture (like desks that come in pieces).

Good selection of moderately priced furniture. No particle board to be seen! The staff is very helpful as well.

Eventhough my initial thoughts still stand, I believe they deserve an update on their "star status".
after the 9th week they confessed that the "other party" is all but faulty, horrible and very-very-bad. when they finally delivered the couch it was not even the color we ordered. well, since I can not talk to the "other" party I have to rely on this side's story. they gave us a huge discount, though, and re-ordered our couch - we'll have it "when it's done". meanwhile there's a strange fume colored couch sitting in the room, mismatching everythingelse around it. well, at least my butt no longer hurts from the weird rock-around-the-ikea-world chair.
bottom line: decent fellows; sloppy business. just make sure they put down everything exactly the way you wanted; especially double check the fabric. and make sure you call them the next day and remind them yourself & your order. it may be a good idea to show up there in person.

horrible, horrible business. they are friendly and smile a lot. but those alone do not constitute a good business. I'd rather have a frown and a lot of swears but get my job done within the promised time period and with confidence
1. they charge you that day, you pay up-front
2. they work with "some furniture company" elsewhere in the country.
3. they say your furniture will be delivered in 4 weeks
4. even "after" the fourth week, well into the fifth one they still have no idea when your furniture will be shipped, let alone be delivered
5. they don't bother to inform you, you have to call them gazillion times a day to extract information
6. throughout this whole thing they do keep smiling and are polite none-the-less
