7456 Foothills BlvdUPDATE: 9/25/07: This weekend my husband and I decided we'd venture up to roseville to our favorite place ever, Homai, only to find that it's CLOSED. The sign on the door says closed for remodeling and looks like the name has changed to "Sky Sushi". I'm not sure but I think it might be new management. All I know is my heart broke. I'm so sad you don't even believe. Hopefully it's just remodeling and a little name change, but same food, same management and same format....if not....I'll cry.

Its been about 10 months since I last went here, since I moved to west sac, this is a serious drive for me. But I love this place. I used to go there ALL the time, sometimes at least once a week if not twice.
The fish is all extremely fresh. The prices are fantastic (given what you get, at any other sushi restaurant you'd spend easily double the amount of their lunch or dinner rate (9.95 and 16.95 respectively).
I love HOMAI! If your looking for great sushi, all you can eat, for a great price. I definitely suggest it.
PS: The walnut prawns are TO DIE FOR. so is their strawcado roll...it looks and sounds gross, but of all the people I've taken there and made try it, Ive had not one person say they didnt like it and basically people leave their dreaming of that roll. Its delicious.

Homai used to be really good when they opened a few years ago.
But over the years, their nori has changed (became rather chewy and left an after taste in my mouth), they use the shrimp eggs instead of real tobikko, and their rice is mushy.
I did notice that their "Japanese" flavored stuff from the menu is actually Chinese flavored.

Homai Fusion is a "sit down buffet".
This is different from your ordinary, garden variety buffet where you have the food on a serving line, etc.
At Homai, you are given a colorful menu with loads of sushi & sashimi choices, as well as a complete Asian bistro menu with Tempura, teriyaki, gyoza, etc.
You order 5 items for the "first round" (each person in your party), then when you finish the first 5 items, you are allowed to order 3 more items, and then when you finish those, 3 more items, and so forth, as long as you are still hungry. A "warning notice" on the menu says you can only sit for 90 minutes at a time.........and you will be charged extra for any items you cannot finish.
I've never gone beyond the time limit, and my "record" for number of items ordered is 21........think Homer Simpson.......DOH!!!
My favorites include "Salmon Skin Roll," "Spicy Tuna Temaki", white tuna sashimi, and the Vegetable Tempura.
But you will probably make your own discoveries, I'm sure!
At Homai Fusion, everything is MADE TO ORDER.......which is why the price of $9.95 (Lunch) is quite reasonable. At one recent visit, I downed about $50 worth of sushi in my ONE HOUR lunch feast.
