The trails are in good shape. They did a nice job after this last winter.
The bathrooms were dirty, had no toilet paper or soap. I have seen the rangers stop by several times a day but when I go in after they leave they have not been cleaned or restocked.
the people camping have gotten so rude. Big groups with 3-5 families, playing music super loud til after 1:00 am.,, kids screaming and running around til after 1:00. Several groups like this. They need to send out rangers at midnight to stop this. Will not be back on a week-end. Several of the regular people in the campground said the same thingHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lu W.San Jose, CA2362347Aug 6, 2022
Besides the obvious fun factor, this park is super well equipped to protect and rescue it's visitors. I made the stupid mistake of going in ill-equipped and venturing into a tunnel I really had no business going through and, alas, got my truck stuck and broke my leg while I was out spotting for myself. A park ranger rushed in on a dirt bike, followed by an off-road ambulance. I was quickly transferred to a regular ambulance at the gate and rushed to Hazel Hawkins. I hardly felt any pain during this ordeal. My kids were actually excited to see all the friendly rangers and their rescue equipment.
A few hours later my truck was towed to my house too. I can't thank these guys enough for keeping me and my kids safe.
Even a broken tibia won't stop me from going back.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Lisa S.Salinas, CA2202397Jan 7, 2023Updated review4 check-ins
Fresh air, birds are singing, cats meowing, trails are ready for riding, bring a jacket but enjoy the fresh air.

A great place and opportunity to learn basic off road skills . Our class was limited to Rivian vehicles only and the one day session gave the students, (limited to 11 vehicles) opportunity to get to "know" the capabilities of their R1T's and R1S's and have some fun. From a newbie standpoint it was a confidence builder. Each driver was able to have about a 10 minute one on one session improving his or her skills. This was followed by a 1- 1/2 hour rocky trail ride at the end of the class adding all the things learned and gained in the outdoor sessions. Highly recommend.

Lots of fun I took my 4x4 up there with my wife and it was her first time 4x4ing so was able to let her drive and learn some basic stuff. And gas 4x4 area was fun. And they have some other easy trails.

The best 5 dollars I have ever spent!! Very easy to understand the different level trails. It's a great first time off roading experience. They give you a map with three different trails from easy, intermediate, & advanced. They also have a obstacle course which is fun you can park and there's bathrooms nearby. People bring up grills and blast music which adds to the good ambiance. We did the easy/beginner trail with our 2 year old in the back seat. She loved it, we all had fun. Highly recommend!

This is obviously a great place to go to ride dirt bikes and four wheelers, because there were a lot of riders there! It was my first time riding dirt, and although I was intimidated by some of the trails, the beautiful scenery kept me refreshed. There seems to be a wide variety of trails ranging from easy to incredibly difficult. My boyfriend successfully did a double black diamond and I nearly had an anxiety attack. Mostly everyone was encouraging and helpful, which was such a nice bonus for a novice like me. I learned so much in my two days of riding here, and can definitely say that Hollister helped increase my skills and love for motorcycling.
The shop in the park is also really cool. They have lots of amazing gear, but I wish they had more gear for bigger people. We like to be safe while riding, also!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Craig B.Honolulu, HI153462Apr 21, 2019
We had a fun time riding on Easter. However, my wife & I noticed intermediate to expert youths (approximately 12-14yr olds) racing/ripping it through the upper beginner 90cc & below oval track. A couple dads/parents almost had a fist fight over this issue. I'm just glad my son (5yrs old PW50 with training wheels)(BEGINNER) was off the track because he was afraid of the fast bikes. Something needs to be re-posted/new signage stating speed; a rough speed limit, or more experienced riders & parent/guardian will be escorted off the premises/state park if violating park rules, or 50cc class beginners only (all others use TT track and/or intermediate lower bowl track).
I mean come on! Let's make the young future of this sport safe for those investing in their kid's favorite sport.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Nigel M.San Jose, CA136May 5, 2019
The Upper Ranch at Hollister SVRA is a relatively safe classroom to learn the capability of your vehicle and your own capabilities. A rescue is but a phone call (and several hundred dollars) away if you really screw up. We have used the park to hone our skills and better understand what our vehicles are capable of doing before venturing off to the distant wilds of the west. It is much better to experience challenges for a first time at Hollister, than 100 miles from the nearest cell tower.
Before you go, know what your vehicle looks like on the underside - where are the most fragile things hanging down; so that you can avoid dragging those over rocks and other hard obstacles.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Louis K.Santa Clara, CA5323Aug 22, 2020
