I've been to Hollis Burgers twice and both times I've really enjoyed the food there.
Both times I ordered the fried fish sandwich with fries. I paid around 5 to 6 dollars and the amount of fish given was SUBSTANTIAL. They also have mixed Kool-Aid like drinks available. Needless to say, health conscious people should keep away.
As for the decor, the memorabilia from LL Cool J, Ja Rule and Run DMC was cute but not particularly expansive. Overall, Hollis Burgers had good vibes.
Now for a serious complaint. The.waiting.time.
Both times I went, I had to wait for a very long time for my order to come. I'm talking about 20 minutes and longer. Not good at all. -

According to the rest, of the reviews, I'm the hater of the bunch, oh well. I think that I just have a more refined palate. Look, this place sucks. The ground beef is probably from Coscos, their ketchup is the horrible no frills brand served in public school, and the wait is entirely too long for what you receive. Now, I only tasted a hamburger (slider), but saw most of everything else they cook come outta the kitchen with the exception of their seafood items. The business is a good concept, and welcome homage to the neighborhood's hip hop roots, but the food sucks. If your particular about your food's quality, taste, and presentation, don't even bother. If your that New Yorker that chooses the Olive Garden over Arthur Ave, this place is for you.
On to a different subject, for a business in the center of one of the nation's largest African American communities, and one which prides itself on being a neighborhood institution, I think it was a bit socially irresponsible for them to allow a group of five or six middle school age boys on a regular school day at 12 in the afternoon with their book bags and all shooting the shit and watching rap music videos; come on now!!

Old School Hip Hop meets the Hard Rock Cafe here, home to great burgers and some really impressive memorabilia from the legends of the neighborhood and other hip hop greats.
In addition to having really good food, the proprietor Orville Hall is calling attention to Hollis' rich history to bring back a commercial corridor that's recently fallen on hard times. Stay tuned for a Hip Hop Walk of Fame that should help all local merchants. In the meantime, I'd highly recommend visiting. -

I went here one day with my friend after finishing finals (finally!). I was really expecting a whole separate museum with a lot of frills but was a little disappointed when I arrived and it was the similar to any burger joint. The museum section consists of a wall section with a bunch of awards and some photos. It's nice to glance at but it would not be a whole side attraction while I had to wait the hour for my food to be ready.
I ordered the stuffed burger with cheese and bacon. ORDER AHEAD! Stuffed burgers take about 45 minutes to be made so bring a book or a good friend to talk to if you don't order ahead. My friend ordered southern style hot wings in honey mustard sauce, french fries, 1 mini burger and we shared a drink ( I think it was pineapple breeze or similar). The fries were soggy and unseasoned. I believe the offer seasoned fries also.
My stuffed burger was HUGE! Luckily I can eat my weight in meat. My friend claimed it was a little salty but I could not notice probably because I like a lot of salt. They could have used a denser bun since there's so much mayo, ketchup and cheese flowing. My friend's wings were too salty, and this is coming from the same person who loves salt. Overall, the wings were nothing special at all. Not bad, just not special. I don't see how they would be southern style and taste similar to KFC. The drink and the burger were the best parts of the meal. At 16 bucks and change for 2 people, it was averagely priced so I can't complain.
Apparently, they offer the southern foods such as ribs, mac n cheese, greens, and seafood on the weekends. The mini burger was also slightly smaller than a white castle burger with pretty much nothing on it. So, treat it as an appetizer unless you order a lot.
If your in the area or crave a huge burger, get it. If not, don't go out of your way. -

Took the family there after learning about the spot from a newspaper article. Small, quaint place with friendly staff. Food is great and it's affordable.

Got to check this out yesterday after exercising for about 3 hours. Needless to say, I was hungry as hell. A girlfriend of mine got some some side orders the day before. As soon as we came in, we were greeted (Customer Service - Yippee!!!). Everyone was so polite and helpful. I had the beef ribs, macaroni and cheese , collard greens, salad, sweet potatoes and chicken with shrimp. Everything was good, I really liked it. I'm very happy I've finally found a place that I can walk to.

Stopped into Hollis Famous Burgers today. To my surprise it was not just about burgers up in there. Crabs, several variety's of shrimp and a pene with broccoli and cheese. This spot pays homage to Hollis' own Run Dmc with ample video, autographed pictures and Adidas sneakers. My burger fries and Obama iced tea were great!
