I was very impressed with the service and hair cut I got at Holiday Salon. A group of my friends and I had been looking for a good salon at a decent price in Costa Mesa, and were recommended to go here. I booked two cuts and two cut/colors here, and the end results on all four women's hair was beautiful.

My friends went to Remy for a cut/color, and Meegan for a cut, and recommend them both.

As for my personal experience, I received a cut from Lindsay ($70), and would definitely go back. I have long hair that has a curl or wave to it, depending on the length, and she was able to shape it really well. Lindsay gave me some of the best long layers I've ever had, without taking off much length. She listened to my requests before starting, and asked for my guidance and clarification on what I wanted though out the cut, which I really appreciated.

She seemed to know hair really well, and recommended products that fit with my hair's needs. The product lines on sale at Holiday Salon include Bumble & Bumble, and Keratese, and if you check in to the salon on Facebook or Yelp, you get 10% off all products.

If you are a nut about your hair and hesitant to try a new salon, I would definitely give Holiday Salon a chance. They know there stuff and are great at discussing options with clients!

A plum district deal led me here for a haircut from Lindsay.  I was a bit apprehensive because I had never heard of this place before but yelp had great reviews.  I thought it was going to a a fairly small salon but I was quite amazed at the size and the amount of people working there as well as the clientele.

Lindsay was extremely nice and offered suggestions as well as listened to how I wanted my haircut.  They always say you should never get your hair done from a person who has a bad haircut.  But I loved her hair so I was confident she would do a great job.

She was awesome and I loved my haircut.  She even gave me tips on how to keep my hair bouncier without having too much product in my hair.  The total with the coupon and tip was almost 50 but it was well worth it.  I think I've found my new go to salon.  Yay!

So my brow gal, Alley has moved to Colorado.  But I am not sad...she is happy and I am happy.  Now I see Misha, Queen of the Brows.  Misha is one of the Holiday owners and despite the fact that almost every other person I meet gets her brows done by her, I was able to score an appointment without a problem.  Today's brows are just fabulous.  Misha is a total pro!

I have long black hair and I dislike anyone who takes a razor to trimming my hair. I have grown an insane attachment to my hair. Seriously, I use to think that women who cry over a bad haircut was nutso. But now, I totally understand how a bad haircut can be devastating. Don't judge me :)
I made a visit here for a trim and blow out. Shelby was super chill and listened without wanting to stab me as I repeat, trim only. Just a little trim. Please don't use a razor. I have fear of split ends. hahah.
Seriously though, she trimmed just a bit to make my hair look healthy and shiny. Had a relaxing shampoo and awesome blow out. Looked great! Felt like a million bucks.

I have been going to Remy at the Holiday Salon for a couple of years now and I love her. I found her when I had a hair mishap at another salon and she was able to fix me up and I have been going to her ever since. She is such a laid back, talented hair stylist that, even though I've moved to Encino since I met her, the drive is totally worth it to see her!

I recently had her put in hair extensions--she matched my hair color PERFECTLY and nobody can tell that my sudden hair growth isn't natural. She also did my hair and my family's hair for my wedding and my family fell in love with her as well. She was able to accommodate coming to my house earlier than the scheduled time and even fit in some people that hadn't planned on having hair done at my house.

Holiday salon is all about the A's...  Alex for hair and Ally for eyebrows!

Alex is super cool, fun to hang out with, has fantastic style, and does a great job on the mane. I have long, thick, dirty blonde hair and he's taken me everywhere from summery beach blonde to dramatic wintery reverse highlights. I've recommended him to several friends and all of them love Alex.

Ally is an angel here on earth. She's patient, caring, and does a damn good job on the brows. My skin is uber sensitive so she takes the time to tweeze my eyebrows to perfection. I am not a regular eyebrow groomer, I usually call in and get a last minute appointment because my brows have grown out of control. Alas, Ally always remembers to ask about my fam, my job, etc. She's truly amazing.

ummm also they serve wine. and mini coronas. or if your appointment is in the morning, tea and coffee.

    love!

My stylist is Noelle. I have been seeing her now for 3 years.

My hair: straight and thin. The kind that does not have its own body and wants to stay straight 24/7.

Noelle is awesome with this kind of hair. I at first was getting medium length cuts but in the past 8 months I went with short bob type styles. It looks great and the products she suggests are dead on.

I went to this place in April because of the high rating it had on here. Well, I completely disagree with the stars this place has. Danielle was the one who did my hair. She was really nice and amiable. I wish I could say the same about her performance.

I wanted slight trim to my hair and my layers to be taken up a bit, but I didn't want anything too texturized or choppy. The haircut was mediocre, the good thing is she didn't chop off more than an inch of my hair since I'm growing it out. However, my layers are pretty choppy to the point where when I put my hair in a pony tail a lot of it doesn't stay in.

The color is what really made this place lose stars. I asked for a black-blue color. Black in natural light with a blue tint outside in the sun. My hair ended up coming out just black. When I got home I tried looking at it in all different sorts of lighting and I saw no trace of blue. I called up the salon and voiced my dissatisfaction. After all, I did just pay $275 for Danielle's "salon quality" services, when I could have bought box dye for $5 and get a cut at Fantastic Sams and had the same results.

So they scheduled me to come back in a couple days later so she could redo the color. I was pleased that they so easily allowed a redo. I went in, got the color put in and guess what... It came out just plain ol' black again.

By now I'm very unhappy because I've had to come back here, waste my time and further damage my hair. I asked for something to be done and I spoke with one of the managers or owners, explained to her what I wanted and my displeasure with the outcome. She then told me that they didn't even have a color that would produce the color I wanted! Umm... why wouldn't they have told me that in the first place?! Then she suggested I go to a "whacky crazy salon" more suitable for my taste. Not sure if she was trying to imply something, but I took offense to it and asked for a refund. They gave me back half of my money and I decided not to persist on getting a full refund, but now thinking back I probably should have since I was wearing hats for a month straight after my visit because the cut has made my hair unmanageable.

Misha is still my ultimate go-to for brows, she's the most fabulous ever.  However, lately she was out of town (I didn't know she was allowed to do that, what if there's a brow crisis??) and I decided I had heard many good things about Ally as well, so I would just book with her.  And guess what.  She's ALSO incredibly fabulous!

It's really rare to find a salon with two great brow and makeup artists - usually there's a "good one" and an "only if I look like Chewbacca and have a date with Ryan Gosling in an hour" one, but not so at Holiday Salon.  Both women are amazing, fantastic, and fabulous, not only at brows, but also in friendliness and professionalism.  I always walk out with a smile and feeling good.

I also recently wanted to look all spiffy for an event, so Noelle gave me a blowout and Ally did my makeup.  First of all, Noelle was fabulous - she even realized that my bangs would behave better if I parted them the other way.  A totally ingenious revelation that I feel is going to save my sanity.  And of course my hair looked amazing and she dealt with my spazzing (not directed at her) with a smile, totally putting me at ease even though I had never seen her before.

Then, as expected, Ally totally rocked my makeup.  I needed to look like I had done it myself (HA!  if they only knew), and she made me look super gorgeous and dressy without being too...painted.  Of course, I could never get cake or liquid eyeliner to look that straight, and I can never figure out where to color the crease, but no one was the wiser.  If they had pulled out some of my individual false eyelashes, that would have been a different story.   She even challenged me by applying blush heavier than I'm used to - I questioned her, and she said that yes, I'm just being paranoid, and sure enough, when I looked in the mirror in the car (and then at the house...and then at the bar...and at the bar again), I totally dug it.

I really hope looking this fabulous for a nice night out isn't addictive...but it very well might be habit-forming to look this good.

I suffer from slight salon anxiety.

Due to my spontaneous, want it now kind of personality I have a list of salons and hairdressers that I frequent. Unfortunately as I went down the list on Friday, I found, much to my dismay that none of them would be available that weekend.

    Nada.

Thus I google chromed Yelp and three more salons popped up. In all honesty I picked upon availability, since yes, I am well aware booking hair appointments (especially on weekends) can be a female canine.

Holiday was responsive - the girl called me back with times and hairdressers. 11:15 on  Saturday it was. I was set and ready to go.

Salon anxiety. As I sped down the 55S I realized that not only was it a Saturday (yes there was the beach traffic) but I had also turned on the wrong street (19th instead of 17th) Curse those Newport Beach street numbers. The salon is located in a cute little center directly across from Ralphs. It's not hard to find, but parking is due to being located by a fabulous brunch/breakfast place called Plums.

Yes, it's still bookmarked in my to eats.

The instant I walked into Holiday, much of my anxiety disappeared as it was literally popping with energy. Oh, and blondes. Lots and lots and lots of blondes. I'm pretty sure not only was I the only asian girl there, but I was also one of the few brunettes that graced the floor. The salon itself is a very good size - it has more of an artsy meets modern meets open minded kind of place.

I was instantly greeted, smocked, seated and coffee'd up. And yes, the first magazine I saw was a Maxim on the table. I knew that this experience was going to be awesome.

The first gal that came up to me (Lindsey...and I apologize if I butcher the spelling) was the one that would be assisting the main hairstylist, Megan. I will have to admit, both these girls were cute. Megan had a preppy, dress me up barbie kind of look with soft blonde curls that I only envied.

Before my color I told them what I wanted to ultimately achieve, and Megan threw out a couple suggestions as well. We both agreed that today I would get my roots touched up, and a tone to kind of blend. The result, pretty amazing.

I will have to say though, Megan's blowout was absolutely awesome. My hair will never have that much body, smoothness and shine ever again. It makes me sad, but for two days my hair felt and looked GOOD.

The total for my color ran about $160 not including gratuity, so be prepared to pay a pretty penny. Was it worth it, totally. Will I add them to my list? Naturally.

I have a new face. And I didn't have to inject, pull, laser, or tighten anything to get it.

All I did was get my eyebrows done by Ally.

It's not like I looked like Frida Kahlo or Peter Falk before, but I definitely needed some eyebrow help. Ally took one look at the brow issues going on and whipped those hairs into shape. It's really incredible what a little plucking, waxing, and shaping can do for you. It didn't hurt at all, either. Ally used some sort of pink wax concoction that doesn't pull the skin off and my brows weren't even red afterward. Shocking. Ally also gave me some excellent tips on how to groom the brows myself. I promised her that I would not tweeze them between appointments (which is the equivalent of telling Madonna to stop working out), but, I'll do my best.

On the same day, I went back to Hanan for a color and cut. I had moved between my last cut/color with her and, in the meantime, I admittedly tried a few salons in my new neighborhood. All that did was validate for me that I cannot go to anyone else. Hanan is simply the best and worth the extra distance. I walked out of the salon looking better than I had in a long time.

Go see these lovely ladies if you need a little hair and brow love. You'll pay a very reasonable price for looking like a million bucks.

I just moved to Newport/Mesa area about 5 months ago and I love love it here but I couldn't bear to think who will be doing my hair now that gas is over 4 bucks and my hair dresser is in Whittier..

I took a chance and looked for a hairdresser close to home and I am so glad I did!

I LOVE my hair!! And my time at the salon flew by with the great convo and fantastic personality courtesy of Leigh! My blow out was def the best and quickest I have ever had!  She even got me lunch!!

The salon itself is super cool, with tons of art that is changed out every couple months I am told.

Now I gotta try Misha for brows! I hear she is amazing!

Thanks Leigh! And I will see you in 6-8 weeks for my touch up..

I have never had my eyebrows done before, but with the help of YELP, I found just who I was looking for!

Ally was AMAZING! She totally gave me a mini-consultation, and the price was actually not too expensive. She explained every single detail that she did also. From the tweezing to the waxing, she let me know exactly what she was doing.

The best part is, she actually LOVES what she does, and she gave me a challenge. 4 weeks growing my eyebrows OUT. I'm on week 3, and believe me, I have found my regular brow girl and I'm totally excited!!

This is the first place I've ever gone to for my eyebrows, so I have nothing to compare it to.  However, I'm really happy with the job that Alli did.  I asked for her to "clean them up" without making my brows so drastically different that people would look at me and say, "OMG you did your eyebrows!"  Well, nobody noticed until I pointed it out, which I consider a success!  Alli is very warm but professional, and she remembered me when I came back a second time.

I only asked to get my eyebrows done, but she suggested I get my chin and upper lip done as well.  I felt a little bit pressured, but agreed and I'm sooo glad that I did!  However, the second time I came, she didn't do such a clean job.  That being said, I think this will be my go-to girl for brows etc., I'm happy with the job that she does and I see no reason to change!

I'm new to the area and have heard nothing but great things about the salon, so I thought I would give it a try.  I walked in for a hair appointment on an early morning, and was extremely happy to hear they served coffee!!!  (I was running late, and had NO time for a Starbucks run!)

I probably would give this place 5 stars if they were more open about their pricing.  My stylist, who I don't want to offend, was very friendly and gave great upsells to what she believed I needed, but didnt mention how much they would jump my total price up!  I guess that's Costa Mesa/Newport for ya!

    Long story short:
    -Loved my blowdry
-Loved my color, they used a new brand that I havent heard of: INOA which didnt cause any scalp irritation on me (I have eczema, so this was helpful!)
-Loved my cut!  Although I asked her to be a bit careful with my bangs because of my cowlick...but hey, that's what straighteners are for I guess!

    I'll definitely come back!

The stories are true, Misha is really incredible with eyebrows, (plus very friendly and nice!). I went in hopeful that she could fix my shape and came out super happy and blown away. The only thing I have a minor complaint with is the price range, I don't feel the two $$ is accurate, it should be $$$

Also there's no big overhead sign, like most tiny shopping centers have a big display on the edge of the street, advertising what businesses are there, so it's a little difficult to find coming from the 55S freeway..if you make a left down E 17th street, it'll be on the right hand side, in a little shopping center right before Tustin.

I didn't have an appointment today and considering tomorrow is Christmas Eve I had a feeling everyone would be booked SOLID. I'm new to the area (used to get my hair done in HB) and had no clue where to go. I pulled up Yelp and found this place. I called and asked if they had time for a walk-in. I just needed a trim, nothing fancy. The girl that answered was super friendly and let me know they could accommodate me right away, wow, that was easy! As I drove there I started to think, they must not be busy if they had an opening right away, what kind of a place is this. Well I arrived to a fairly large salon BUZZING with tons of people. The place was packed! I guess everyone was trying to get their hair done before the holidays. The receptionist was very friendly, offered something to drink, showed me to the changing room right away and let me know my stylist would be right with me.  Less than 3 mins later, in comes Landon, my stylist. He was extremely friendly, really listened to what I wanted and cut my hair exactly as I asked. He made some friendly "small talk" but it wasn't overbearing (I don't know about you but I hate having to talk throughout my entire cut. I'd rather read my magazine and get pampered) this was a perfect amount of "get to know ya" talk.  He was quick, did a good job with the blow out and I was on my way.  He wasn't pushy with products, in fact he asked me earlier what I used and that was about it. I HATE going up to pay and dreading the "the stylist recommended this for your hair" and pushy sales. Its always awkward saying no and I always "pretend" like I'm contemplating making the purchase.

The salon was clean, they were very friendly and accommodating, and my stylist was great.  I'll definitely be back! Thank you Landon!

If you're looking for a fancy salon experience with complimentary drinks, then Holiday Salon is for you.  My stylist, Sara, did a great job with my color, the cut was nice, and so was she, but there's something about paying more than $200 for a cut and color that leaves a sour taste in my mouth.  SO not worth it.  I really can't complain about this place except for the price - especially since I wasn't made aware of the cost up front.  Does that make me cheap?  Perhaps.  I just know this place was too rich for my blood.

After having my hair cut by the same guy at the same salon in Laguna Niguel for over 10 years we moved to Newport - and he moved to TN. My wife suggested I see Troy at Holiday and I'm glad she did. It's like a visit to a cool friend's house who also know how to style a great cut.

I think I've been going to Holiday for my hair and eyebrow needs for about one and a half years now? Maybe a little more.... One or two or three years... doesn't matter.

I've been unbelievably impressed with Holiday from day one. I'd been reeling from a cut that went too short and too.... awful from about a year or two prior. I was so unhappy with it that I kept trying place after place to fix it. I know, patience is key with fixing a haircut gone awry, but I'd get my hair cut every 6 weeks or whenever I got an itch, thinking one of these days a stylist would redeem it. Along the way, each of the stylists that I'd tried had screwed up a tiny bit, so I'd try some place new.

One day when I got the urge to get a trim, I called Holiday. I think I found it on Yelp, I don't remember, but I called and asked if they had anybody that could cut my hair that day after work, because my hair was driving me nuts and I *needed* to get it cut. Well, they didn't have anything that late, but Shelby volunteered to stay and wait for me to help me out. That in an of itself was so sweet. (I think the chick at the front desk heard the desperation in my voice....)

I got there and Shelby gave me a great cut... She was so sweet and just fantastic about everything. At the end, when I was leaving, she challenged me to not get it cut again for another 3 months. That is pure torture for me, but I listened. A stylist telling you NOT to come back for more (so soon, anyway)... Shelby obviously had my hair's best interest at heart. So I listened, but as I do with any challenge, I pushed past her due date to about 4 months. Now, however long later, I look like a girl again and I love it.

Another problem I have is my hair color. I bored a little too easily. When I first entered the salon, I'd been dying my hair black for about a year. I get in those phases... So, I'd had her dye it dark a couple of times. Well, sometime last year? 6 months ago? I have no clue (I obviously have no concept of time.) I decided to go lighter. Well, having a base of home dyes, Paul Mitchell school dyes, and then Shelby's dye jobs, to lighten my hair required some major stripping while keeping it from breaking off at the tug of a hair tie. But Shelby has managed to do it, and do it well. (eg. My friend who has deemed us the proud brunette minority actually told me that she really liked my hair blonde. You may not believe me, but this is a real accomplishment to have this girl turn on my brunette roots.)

So, end of hair story, Shelby's awesome. My salon hopping days are over and I've found someone I am staying loyal to. It kinda helps that I have a total girl crush on her, too. She's got the best style of anyone I know... finds the most amazing outfits that I'd probably completely miss in a thrift shop. Her attitude, her hair, her shoes (Yeah, she's got a favorite pair of moccasins, don't worry about it.), everything.  But she isn't in the least bit intimidating. Shelby's totally welcoming and friendly and (at least makes me believe that....) she likes all my misadventures in life and love. Am I gushing? So, yeah. It's not gonna be awkward next time I go in there for a bang trim or anything.... shoot.

Okay, the second time I went in, I was in dire need of an eyebrow cleanup. I'd read Ally's reviews on here, so I asked Shelby if it'd be possible to get them all fixed that day. Ally threw me in somewhere between my color and my cut and really shaped my eyebrows. I'd been threading for a few years before this and they'd just do whatever they thought looked good and it was fine, but Ally really took the time to find the shape that was right for me and totally natural. I get compliments on my eyebrows all the time. Really... and I tell them I know this girl that's fantastic. Unless it's really crunch time and I need to make something happen and I can't squeeze in to her schedule (which really isn't hard to do, I just make last minute appointments and I've got a tiny after work window that sometimes doesn't cut it), I don't even touch my brows between appointments. She's even so sweet to offer to stay later for me, should I need it.

Seriously though.... if you want a great eyebrow shaping, Ally's the one to beat. She is so sweet and listens to my stories and puts up with my nonsense and gets my eyebrows under control. So to sum up: Eyebrow needs, go to Alli. Hair care needs, go to Shelby. I adore them both... an equally healthy amount.

Ok, can you say wow!?!?!  I absolutely adore this place!!!!  I was looking for a salon in Orange County and found this place on Yelp.  Everyone raves about their eyebrows from this place, but they also do an AMAZING job with hair!  I'm really picky about my hair and how I style it.  I went to Remy and she did EVERYTHING I asked for and more!  I just explained to her what I was looking for and it was PERFECTION.  Flawlessly and effortlessly, she delivered and I got the exact style and cut I was looking for!  She even gave me tips on how to keep my hair healthy and how to style my hair myself.  The staff was EXTREMELY nice and made you feel welcomed.  I absolutely adore this place and will be going here from now on.  Thank you, Remy & Holiday Salon!!!!

Misha is the brow guru's guru. I have lived in LA for 16 years and not even Anastasia comes close to Misha's level of expertise.  With  her champagne bubble personality and quick wit, having Misha shape my brows feels more like having lunch with a dear friend rather than having my unruly eyebrow hairs tamed into submission. The end result of expertly applied wax and painstakingly trimmed hairs are arched brows that frame my face  so beautifully, I can postpone botox for another few years.

    Magic...thy name is Misha.

Today I had my brows done by Misha-thanks to all you Yelpers for your great recommendation!  She was friendly and sweet and started off with a mini-consultation.  I knew right away that she knows her brows and we agreed on a game plan.  Being Asian, my brows are difficult, but she got them back under control!  I walked out with some tips for filling them in and a couple of products to keep them in line between visits.

Misha is THE brow expert in Orange County.  Her skills and professionalism are second to none and you will love how your brows frame your face!  I also just had my lashes tinted for the first time with her natural vegetable dye for Summer.  Mine are naturally a dark blonde and even lighter near the tips, so they now look awesome when I'm makeup-free (which is 80% of the time!!!)  Great for the warm weather and pool/beach times coming up these next few months!!!  Go see Misha-you won't be disappointed!

BEST BROWS IN TOWN HANDS DOWN! If you're willing to pay the price its amazing! The girls are all so nice and they have a great selection of products. I usually have my hair cut here by Shelbi, who is super cool and does a fab job. Her styling on me was fabulous also. I have had other girls and they are just as good. Heres to you, Happy Holiday(s)!

This is a really cool salon with a great vibe.  They serve you coffee and even wine, if that's what you like.  Leigh does my hair and she always does a great job.  She's very creative and I love that she's a perfectionist.  I always get compliments on my hair.  Leigh's great!

OK... i just LOVE this place.  I have been going to NOELLE for years now.  and i drive all the way from Long Beach.  I just cannot trust anyone else with my hair!  She is just so cute and great to talk to.  But, lets get real here... its all about the skills.  I have never been dissapointed.

As far as the salon goes.. Misha is amazing at brows and the overall salon is super cute.  I mean you can have a glass of wine or beer when your getting pampered!  Everyone is really nice and it feels comfortable when you go in there not like other salons where it seems like people are staring at you.

A DEFINITE YES to try!  Noelle!  She's my go-to gal!

I really have no excuse walking around Costa Mesa with a unibrow when the amazing Holiday Salon and the ever-so-lovely and talented Misha are less than a mile away from me...Misha seriously does wonders! If you find yourself in the same predicament, do yourself and society a favor and please go see Misha so she can work her magic and leave you looking gorgeous!

Troy is great! I think I had my first good CA haircut from Troy! He's a little pricey $75, but he's worth it, since I'm happy with my hair. Troy is a great listener and he's easy going.
