This Holiday Inn is a huge place, with indoor and outdoor pools and facilities for a small convention.  They seem to take customer service very seriously, and all and all it is a very comfortable place to stay.  There are free newspapers in the "business center" and the wi-fi is included in the room, with a strong signal.  Room service is swift and accurate.

A few minor gripes:  all the soda machines on the 5 floors are in need of refill.  Service in the restaurant this (Sunday) morning was extremely slow.  The rooms are squeaky clean, but the halls and elevator were not as clean, and I twice touched door handles that were [ick!] sticky.  Ewww.

Everything else has been SO good that I'm going to assume the best and give it 4 stars.  Nice place to stay, and I would stay here again.

OK, so my parents lived in Visalia for a coupla years. Then they moved back to Palm Springs due to the poor air quality in V. We met the folks down there to help clean out their mini storage space. Its actually a pretty nice hotel. Indoor and outdoor pools. East friendly check in, uber clean rooms. Seriously for a Holiday Inn the restaurant is pretty durn good. My one beef was the bar service. The cocktail waitress was clearly struggling and the bar tender came out and took our orders. Ultimately he should have gotten the tip. She did apologize and said she was over worked and busy, but did not offer to comp anything for our long wait, as well as made us move from a sofa and chairs to the chess/backgammon tables so it would be easier to serve us. Calamari, shrimp squeres and capresse salad were pretty good. The breakfast the following morning was better and the waitress was awesome.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Visalia for a business trip.  I will likely be staying here several more times in the future for return business trips.  Luckily for me, it is a very nice hotel.  THe beds are very comfortable and the TV's channel selection is good.  They provide an iron in the closet and other necessities.

My only complaint is that there was a big window facing the parking lot that I could not really cover up beyond the paper thin white curtain they had up.  So, at 6:30 am when the electrical crews or whomever owned the big trucks parked outside my window started loading up and heading out for the day, I was awakened by their headlights shining in my face.

Otherwise, a fine place to stay.  The hotel's restaurant is very good!

There are only a few places in the world that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

I came to Visalia after hearing about all the wonderful sites and rich history of the area.  Actually no, I came for business.  So the admin in my firm booked the hotel, and all I asked for was a non-smoking room with internet access.  This was provided.

The lobby is big.  Plenty of sofas to hang out, and even a grand piano (maybe a baby grand), although nobody was playing.  They also have several computers available in the lobby for guests to use, presumably to surf the net.  Lots of people were there when I checked in, on a Monday night at about 10pm.

In all, this hotel could receive a full five stars.  Nice big room, good and clean lobby, free internet access, USA Today available in the morning and the Fresno Bee available downstairs, and all put together well with a helpful and friendly staff.

Alas, it was missing something very important and never to be overlooked. Complimentary breakfast! I know that it's the norm for Yelpers to deduct just one star if a service is missing, but this is IMPORTANT.  I can't remember the last hotel I stayed at that didn't offer complimentary breakfast!!

Three *tentative* stars because I'd rather go somewhere else if I had to come back- and only because I don't know the quality of other hotels in the area, otherwise this place might deserve only 2 star for lack of complimentary breakfast.

Visalia is not one of those places that one must visit at least once in a lifetime.
