3 reviews for Holiday Inn Turf
I was itching to award the Inn a fourth star, scratching my head, struggling to remember something special that set this experience apart from the run of the mill three-star ho-hum leisure stay.
Then it came to me.
The towels. They were somewhat soft, a far cry from the sandpaper rags found most everyplace else. Congratulations, towels.
While Holiday Inn doesn't conjure up images of in-room massages (well, maybe for those of you who invite ladies of the night to your rooms, it does) and sipping mimosas poolside, you will be pleasantly surprised if you find yourself at the Turf.
I do suggest booking a room in the adjacent "Tower," as many of the rooms in the main wing face the indoor pool. And the entire atrium stinks of chlorine. You stink of chlorine, too, most likely, so maybe don't sweat this detail.
Aside from nearly soft towels, we were amazed that we could order room service for breakfast and not spend more than $40. We split the three-egg omelet and some coffee and it only set us back $13, including gratuity. Now that's some fine dining. We had room service three times and could register no complaints.
Our only nitpick for our four nights was the crappy cable reception.
With a free 24-hour airport shuttle (less than ten minutes away) and free WiFi, you really can't go wrong here.

Ok, so I've never actually STAYED at the hotel given that I live like 15 minutes away. However, the restaurant is something VERY, VERY nice. Their selection isn't huge, and every other day it's a normal restaurant, however, the Saturday night all-you-can-eat prime rib definitely has me giving this place a nicer rating than not. Now this isn't some Old Country Buffet tough roast beef stuff, this is fairly good prime rib. Not the best you can get, but hey, when you can get as much of it as you want, and it's good, I'm willing to take a slight knock on quality. They have turkey as well, and the side bar will have some other entrees but again, there are only like 6 items to choose from, tack on some salad and bread, and that's the whole of it. However, the prime rib is worth it.
On a trip with my Mum to Saratoga Springs, we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Albany, to save a buck. It was about a 30 mile drive to and from the places we want to visit so the savings to me was not so clear and here is why. The rooms were musty and moldy. As I opened the door to the room it was like a slap in the face. The air conditioning in the room was minimal at best. To add insult to injury, being placed near the entrance door was the deal breaker. The door is one you would see in a school entrance. You know the kind you press the bar to get in and weighs about a thousand pounds. So each person that came and went at say 4:00 AM on...we heard their comings and goings. SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! Needless to say we had zero sleep. We paid a visit to the hotel bar ,205 on Wolf, where a very accommodating bar tender waited on us. No complaints there. My next visit to Saratoga Springs, I will stay in Saratoga Springs!
