5 reviews for Holiday Inn
Let me start this review off with the fact that I am very "needy" when it comes to my hotel. I am the friend that goes online and checks out every amenity the hotel has to offer. I am also the friend that will refuse to stay somewhere I deem to be cheap or unclean. I would be the friend that would have said "HELL NO" to go going to a Holiday Inn....
I AM NOW THE FRIEND THAT IS INSERTING MY FOOT INTO MY MOUTH! (among other things)
Last time I was in Santa Monica I stayed at the Sheraton Delfina. My room was UN-impressive. I had a balcony but it faced directly towards other hotel rooms. No view at all. I had wireless but had to pay $12 a day for it! I can continue with numerous other details that were not all that great. So I searched long and hard for an alternative to that hotel. Being on a budget I couldn't swing staying at the Viceroy... So I booked here at the Holiday Inn.
This hotel had every amenity I could imagine! Valet parking. Tons of TV channels and HBO. Movies you could order that were still in the theatres. Free wireless. Room service. Free coffee. View of the Ocean and of the city!!! Huge rooms and a very comfortable king bed. Flat screen TVs.... The list goes on and on. Not to mention that this hotel was just a few blocks from the promenade and the beach. A ton of restaurants, coffee houses, bars and boutiques are also in a few block radius.
Needless to say I was VERY ecstatic about being a guest here. I never had a single problem and was able to get around the area with ease due to the great location. The staff is extremely helpful and the rooms are very clean. The best things about staying here?? Saving on $$ from the more expensive hotels gave me some leeway in my budget and I was able to go shopping =)
So when you are in the area... Don't be a snob... book here... save a few bucks... and have a good time!
We absolutely love this place. We got a group rate (185 for a Saturday night in May, which-given the area, was fantastic) and everyone was so nice and helpful. We stayed here 2 nights before, and one night after the wedding-it was close to both the ceremony and reception sites. So, after the ceremony, we parked our car here and had the front desk call a cab. When the cab was running late and we had to get to our reception (yes, I was in the lobby of the holiday inn in my wedding dress) two of their employees ran onto the sidewalk and frantically started hailing cabs for us. The ocean view rooms are better than partial (as in, you can see it well from the 6th and 7th floors immediately to the side) and the rooms are great; nice sized, clean, and I like the pillow menu they provided. I would absolutely stay here again.
I had to book this place on-line for a last minute emergency for my priest friend. He was accidentally locked out of an Armenian Catholic church where he was a guest one night.
Anyway, I had 15 minutes to look for a room around 8pm in Santa Monica. Huntley Radisson, Viceroy, Fairmont Miramar...all $500 ish and booked up.
Desperate, I sent him to the Holiday Inn by the Pier. Nice room with a king bed for only $160! Free internet! The room had a beach and amusement park on the Pier view!
That's dope.
It was not decorated by a celebrity designer but they have recently renovated.
What's the lack of one star then? Thin walls.
You know... there was a couple next door to his room who got....
My friend had black circles under his eyes when I greeted him the next morning.
I stayed here with a bunch of my friends for 5 nights. We had originally checked into another hotel that was a crap hole with rude people and we needed to be within walking distance to the toni&guy academy and needed a more affordable hotel. We checked in super last minute and they were extremely nice and accommodating (especially clarence, the cool cat that works at the front desk!!) I thought that it was a really nice Holiday Inn & I've heard that they just renovated quite a bit. The noise wasn't an issue for me even when our room faced the street. It's within walking distance of a bunch of shops and food. Next time I'm taking a class at toni&guy I'm definitely staying there.
This was the first weekend away from my 10 month old. My hubby and I went to a wedding that was at the Fairmont. This was one of the hotels listed to stay at. Well I knew that it was prime location and yes it was conveniently located near everything, BUT daaammmmnn!! For some reason they gave us 2 doubles??? so hubby and I were squished on a double and we had the PAPA BEAR BED - rock hard! My back hurt the next morning. Oh i forgot to mention that since the location was right where everything is, there was way too much noise outside even at 3am!! you can hear the buses and dump trucks go by. Drove me nuts!!! Not a good experience especially since we are parents that are sleep deprived.
