Its the Holiday Inn. BUT its the best of the low-budget hotels in the area.  There's free parking, and its next the the conference center. The rooms are pretty big for this area, and clean.
I stayed here after a wedding in the area and my room had a fridge and a microwave - not sure if that's standard. They have room service from the restaurant downstairs - but there's an IHop a block down the street, so good for all hours food.
The staff in the lobby are superfriendly and they greet people - where can I get an enthusiastic GOOD MORNING at 430am and another smiling GOOD MORNING when I come back from foraging for food? And the lobbys pretty for a Holiday Inn.

Stay here over Travelodge/Motel6/GoodNIght Inn/AirportInn.

Horrible place. I've stayed there twice (actually live in San Francisco but have had to stay in a hotel a few times for various reasons). First, the internet never worked for us in our room either time. Second, the place is dirty especially the elevator (always smells like weed and body odor). Third, our car got stolen from the parking lot and we have a 1 year old and it was her birthday when we woke up to a stolen car and it had her car seat and some other things of importance to us. The staff were very unhelpful during this situation and refused to offer anything in return for this experience (not even one discounted night).
The rooms are not bad to keep things in perspective. The restaurant is usually pretty busy. And it is easy to get to the freeway and airport.
But, it was a terrible experience and I can't believe how mean they were to us. DON"T STAY HERE!

like bathing in tepid water?
low water pressure?
a hair dryer unit that rips off the wall when you use it?
free wireless internet in Houlihan's that suddenly stops working and prompts you to go to the front desk for a password?
being immobile in rooms that relegate you to wired internet?

then stay at the south san francisco holiday inn!

Scored this place on priceline for $45 bucks. Totally worth it. I'm not sure if I would have paid much more, but this place was not bad. The downstairs was really nice looking. Hoolihan's or whatever the name of the lounge was  had a nice menu and of course the requisite expensive cocktails. The rooms were large and cozy. The bathroom was the thing that made you realize how dated the hotel was but even that wasn't too bad. The reason I really like this place was the free shuttle to and from the airport with free parking. Would I stay here again? Only if priceline told me so.

Everyone I met working at this hotel was really friendly. Seemingly genuinely so. You know, the smiles went to the eyes, not just "I have to be nice to you because you are a customer and I have this damn job in the service industry" friendly, like I often get in places of lodging. So that was a great start. Nice big comfortable lobby, spacious rooms, very clean, sheets that didn't feel like burlap, a real cotton blanket as opposed to those weird spongy ones that don't retain any warmth whatsoever, and no weird hotel "lets-use-even-more-air-freshener, I'm-sure-that-will-take-care-of-that-strange-ranci d-cigarrete/unidentified-mouldering bodily-fluid-smell" odor. The air conditioner in the room actually worked, too.

I didn't try the food in the restaurant, Houlihan's, but I had large dirty martini from it, which was decent.

Just to put a plug in for http://Hotwire.com - we got excellent rates on rooms here through them. 170 for TWO rooms - really good.

Also, there was a small fridge in the room - twice as big as the little cube ones. It wasn't needed as we only spent one night, but that is a great thing to have for an extended stay. There was also a microwave, so you could heat up those restaurant leftovers you put in the fridge.

My one complaint??? The tap water was absolutely nasty - not their fault, I realize that is a municipal issue - however, the vending machine down the hall had no bottled water available, only soda. So if you are listening Holiday Inn SFO North. . .please put some bottled water in your vending machines. I like to drink water until I am almost floating away - especially if I am about to get on a plane and have the life force sucked out of me by dry recycled germ laden air for 6 hours.

Otherwise - a very decent hotel. Especially for the price we paid for it.

Booked through Hotwire, and got a 2 double bed room for around $75 a night. Not bad at all for the short notice (3 days in advance).

The lobby looks nice, and there's a nice lil' restaurant/lounge adjacent to it, but once you step off the elevator onto the room floors, you realize why the price is so low. The paint and carpeting is old and worn, kinda shabby looking.

The room was adequate in size, and actually the beds were larger than I had expected, so that was nice. The TV was old, the shades couldn't be drawn closed, and the bathroom was minuscule. I mean, smaller than crappy motels I've stayed at! Then again, I was there mainly to sleep, so it didn't really bother me. Working shower and good hot water pressure, enough cable channels to flip through, and everything was quite clean.

the employees were friendly enough, and the bartender at the lounge was very cool. I didn't really need anything, so I don't know how "at your service" the employees are, but it was no problem getting an extended checkout on my last day there.

Unfortunately, the "fitness room" is a joke! A small room with a few treadmills and some free weights in the corner (about 30lbs. max). I'd be surprised if anybody used that equipment, ever. No wonder it was hidden down a dimly lit hallway off the lobby entrance.

I would stay again for a super-low price, but next time I'll book earlier and spring for something pretty, and hopefully closer to downtown or the wharf.
