HIDEOUS on the outside.

WHY?  b/c it's coral, blue & ugly all over.

The inside looks completely different.  Must have been gutted.  Granite lobby area.

Rooms are updated:
Tons of mirrors, large square, full length & bathroom.
Granite countertops.
Rain showerhead.

24 hour access to the cardio & weight rooms.  Not great, but it's FREE & does it's job.

Location is great if you're looking for access to the gaslamp district, pier or if you're a cruiser.

In and out parking privileges for $20/day.

Usually this hotel is much cheaper than most other hotels, but in our case we paid over $240 since we booked in the last moment. If you book at least a month in advance, the same room should be around $150, I believe, which is very decent. Because... oh what a view! (BTW you get a view if you book the 'Bay View' Rooms- the 'City View' rooms look at the parking lot and some high-rise downtown apartment buildings... umm!).

When you arrive at this hotel, don't look too much at the lobby with worn out carpets and outdated design. Don't look at the pinkish facade paint with blue accents that can come from an environmental designer's worst nightmare. Don't allow any 'first impressions' before you actually reach the room with the view. Because the only good thing about this hotel are the rooms. But initially we didn't get the room we requested, so I ended up going to the reception desk to complain. The Assistant Manager of Guest Services, a certain Mr. Ignacio Hancock, took care of us very kindly and personally helped up to get settled into our room 1245- see the uploaded pic with the view of San Diego Bay Sunset... Pretty amazing.

This is an old, old property. Maybe from the 60's? Not sure. But the rooms have been remodeled. If you get non-smoking, the rooms have no smell. Carpets are new. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms are with showers only, but really spacious, with beautiful marble, new and clean looking. The French Doors are opening towards a balcony that is big enough to sit there and watch the sunset (has 2 comfortable patio chairs and a small table, to put your champagne glasses and them chocolate-covered strawberries)...

I removed one star, because during the night, we heard some kind of knocking from the AC pipes- as if some sadistic dude sat there patiently all night with a piece of metal pipe, and every 10-15 seconds knocked on the tin ducts. I suspect the wind was lifting a loose piece of tin somewhere? Not sure. I don't think it was a poltergeist (hehe). Wasn't too overwhelming to me, but my beautiful date is much more sensitive to "creepy" sounds. The hotel should fix it somehow.

If you stay here and want to have a view, you should definitely insist on getting a room above 8th floor in the 14-floor-high Back Tower (the front tower is only 4 floors, and since it is close to the street it's noisier).

Booked this hotel off priceline and for some reason priceline labels it as gaslamp quarter, but this hotel is not. It's definitely within walking distance, about 8 blocks away.

I was disappointed with our stay b/c the bedding in the pictures looked so nice and although we got an upgraded view room right in front of the bay, the room was not that nice. I wonder if the rooms in the other tower is better. I'll never know because I don't think I'd come back. I'd rather pay a bit more for a 4 star.

3am. We are drunk.  We are supposed to stay at a friend's place in Little Italy.  Unbeknownst to us, they got a dog which I am allergic to.  We don't want to cab back to PB to wake up our other friends, so suitcase in hand, we walk 3 blocks from the condos at the Treo to the Holiday Inn on Harbor Drive after calling and confirming they have rooms.

It's dead inside since everyone is probably already sleeping.  We get a room and go up to it, and pass out.

Standard Holiday Inn decor.  Pastel-y floraly and some of the furniture in the rooms and the lobby didn't match.  We had a nice view though from our room.  It is also next to literally, Ruth Chris and across from all the touristy stuff on Harbor Drive.

Room was clean, I didn't find any lice or anything gross.  White sheets looked new.  Bathroom came with shampoo and lotions and plenty of towels.  Considering we slept, got up, showered and left, and didn't do anything else it was fine.

It saved us for the night.  And ended up costing $200.

I wanted to stay at the Omni but they were all booked up.  We Stayed here because it was soooo much cheaper than any other hotel in the downtown area.  I wasn't expecting much but boy was I surprised.  At check-in our room was upgraded and we had an amazing view.  The room was very roomy and extremely clean.  Our bathroom seemed to be recently remodeled.  The Sante Fe Trolley station was only a block away which made it easy getting around the city.  The next time I am in San Diego I will be staying here!

I had an awesome experience staying at the Holiday Inn off Harbor while visiting some college friends.  The room my girlfriend and I had was beautiful and had *four* awesome views of the bay!  I would go back in a heartbeat.
