At the risk of sounding like a snob - wait - I AM a snob - this hotel was pretty damn good. We had a very early flight so opted to stay by the airport. Holiday Inn was offering the best AAA rate, so we figured we'd take it. After all, it was only one night.
What a pleasant surprise to enter a hotel that had been newly recently renovated and was smoke-free. Our room was pretty large and very quiet, despite the fact that it faced busy Brown Avenue. The furnishings were comfortable and we even had a choice of several different kinds of pillows, which came in handy when I took a long nap that afternoon.
My hon of hons husband was pleased with the large flat-screen TV, even though he had to watch the Patriots instead of his beloved Forty-Niners. I loved the pool, which I had all to myself.
Check it out if you are in the area - just say no to the on site restaurant, the Airport Diner. -

Close to the Manchester Airport and an easy in, easy out, parking.
Huge menu, diner fare that is decent.
Fairly quick to get in and out of.
I would not go out of my way to go here unless I was just headed out on a flight.
Decent ordinary food.Listed in: New England Diners, Drive-ins…

I'm waivering between two and three stars. On one hand, the location is great - I stayed here on a business trip to Manchester, and it was super easy to get around. You can jump on and off the highway in no time.
On the other hand, the hotel itself isn't anything exceptional. It's your run-of-the-mill, standard Holiday Inn. The lobby is tiny, and the rooms are clean, but not sparkling clean.
I'll give them 3 stars because they do have a business center where you can print off your boarding pass or other important documents. And free wi-fi. And free coffee.
I like free. -

I've been watching a shit-ton of Kitchen Disasters lately. It's Gordon Ramsay's OTHER show, in which he visits restaurants on the brink of self-implosion and transforms them into viable choices for dining out.
I've also been watching lots of Family Guy. In one episode, Stewie G. sits in his highchair and comments:
"You know, mother, this could almost have passed for a palatable banana pudding, but without Nilla wafers it's just another one of your wretched culinary abortions. Now clean it up!"
My "Southern Breakfast" at the Airport Diner was wretched. Undercooked bacon. Dry Biscuits covered with gray gravy. Rubber eggs squirting pale yellow yolk-goo.
Homefries were almost edible if you can deal with al dente potato bits. Coffee was also okay. The ice water was the star of the show. They use crushed ice. Had they used regular cubes or chips, I woulda had to go with one star. Also, it was my first meal after getting off a never-ending string of airplanes from LA, so maybe my pissed-off bone was already tickled a little before I even stepped foot through the door. -

The Airport Diner has a retro dining atmosphere with an aviation theme of small painted murals with flying planes (above the lunch counter), classic signs, framed pictures, small toy planes, gumball machine, and a Coca Cola clock. The classic dining area has tile floors, red vinyl booth & table seating, and red & turquoise stool chairs at the high top tables and lining the long lunch counter.
The menu offers the typical diner fare including breakfast (served all day), appetizers, salads, salad bar, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, comfort food dinners, seafood, ice cream treats, and homemade desserts. There's a display of homemade pies, cakes, & large cookies in the cooler near the entrance.
On my last visit, I stopped here for a weekday lunch and the place was busy. I was told I could sit at any high top table. The waitresses wear different colored Airport Diner T-shirts including a cool red tie dye. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie ($7.99) and added the Salad Bar for $2.89 more with entree purchase (or $7.99 as a meal).
The Salad Bar located behind the far end of the lunch counter had items such as iceburg and romaine greens, basic garnishes & dressings, cherry tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, cottage cheese, macaroni salad, German potato salad, fruit salad, jello, and butterscotch pudding. The items tasted fresh, but the macaroni salad (no mayo) with vegetables was bland and I used some dressing to add flavor. However, the German Potato Salad was pretty good.
The Shepherd's Pie was baked in a large ceramic bowl and served with a roll and butter. Under the baked mashed potato top, there was lots of creamed corn and ground beef, which produced lots of OILY GREASE. I prefer less grease, but I mixed the the grease into the mashed potatoes to add some extra flavor, not bad at all.
For dessert, I had a bowl of some good creamy Butterscotch Pudding from the Salad Bar. The service on this visit was decent (food and drink brought out quickly) during the lunch rush: "Food on the fly."
The Airport Diner is open 24 hours, adjacent to the Holiday Inn located near the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. This diner is a part of The Common Man family of restaurants (including the Tilt 'n Diner). Free WiFi here!Listed in: Diners, NH Route 101 Eats

This is a review for the hotel, and not the diner that most people have reviewed here.
I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn before, but I always heard very bad things. Contrary to what I heard, this Holiday Inn was actually very nice. The guest room was huge with a king size bed and a big couch and coffee table. The hotel was very clean and looked like it was recently renovated.
Would I expect this from other Holiday Inns? No way! But I'd definitely recommend this Holiday Inn if you need a hotel to stay in Manchester. -

We stayed here after flying from the west coast on our way to northern Vermont. It was a good hotel and the rooms were clean. They do, however, need to replace the carpeting in the public areas. The room served us well for one night and the staff was very accommodating. Having the diner next door was a big help. It was easy to get from the airport and the free parking was a great perk, too

Am I the only one that gave this place 5 stars?!?!
I found a diner that has helped me through my diner withdrawl after moving from NY to NH. Good coffee, cheap food. Thats all I wanted.
I had the Hash Omlet and coffee. My husband had the blueberry pancakes and coffee. Both were DELISH. And...CHEAP. Most items were under $7 on the breakfast menu. A far cry from the Friendly Toast's $10 on the average.
Our waitress was awesome. Very nice and attentive.
I left full and content. The bill was about $20 with the $5 tip we left.
Despite the reviews below, I found the place to be clean, organized and the food was great. I will go back weekly for when I have diner food cravings. -

I was a little let down by the airport diner, after reading reviews here I figured I would give it a try. The seating was quick, we got a booth. the menu was alright. the food was average or slightly below average. the service was average. Nothing was terrible. but nothing was great either. The prices were on par though.
I will give them credit for being open later then most places in NH. But if there is a Dennys close by, I would go there instead. -

Amherst, NH
Not bad. The food is pretty decent, breakfast choices are really good.
It's generally a 4-star rating place, but the service can fluctuate between pretty good, and very inattentive. The mac and cheese is usually good, but can be inconsistent - it depends on who's making it. Sometimes creamy and yummy, other times looks like it was thrown together without much concern.
Pancakes are good and insanely huge. Not a big fan of the homefries - they're of the little fried square variety, which always seem to get cold much quicker than anything with a potato-texture.
A big plus is the fact that it's a pretty wide menu with lots of choices. -

I've eaten here several times and each time the food has been decent. It can get a bit noisy and there is too long a wait on Sundays.
Atmosphere: cute, retro style - lots to look at (great for people like me with a short attention span!)
Food: decent (some things are done well - hard to mess up an egg and some could improve - burgers)
Prices: very affordable
Portions: too much food -

My family and love this place. It is identical to the "Tilton Diner" up in Tilton, NH (a favorite stop for outlet shoppers and lake visitors)....same menu and same 50s theme. This restaurant, however, has more of a vintage aviation theme.... with biplane replicas on the ceilings and murals of planes and pilots on the walls. Oldies station plays all day/night.
Be sure to start off with a vanilla or cherry coke. They don't serve the premade stuff offered by Coca-Cola, but actually use the syrups that you would have gotten at your favorite pharmacy with soda shop if it were 1950s. Also, their shakes and malts are incredible!
The menu is not extensive, but I think it covers all the "diner basics". I HIGHLY recommend the tuna melt. They serve it on this buttery parmesean bread that is incredible. Their fries are delicious... get em crunchy. My wife and son got the chicken fingers and they are also great.
This is our new permanent stop on the way to the Manchester Airport (only 1.3 miles away). Even with the new airport exit coming in a few years, we might still have to drive past the aiport and continue up Brown Ave (Rt. 3A) to grab a tasty bite! -

Great location and service which I find to be offered by all of the Holiday Inn's "AIRPORT" locations. They get you in fast and out fast all for a great price. This location offers a indoor pool and poplar Dinner, which is pretty good.

Review from Scott Y.
When I lived in Manchester, I always liked the Airport Diner for what it was, a convenient place to grab a quick breakfast without having to wake up early. I was never overly impressed with the dinner items that I tried, but they were always at least OK, and the breakfast items were always a step above average. I think that a lot of the negative reviews for this diner may stem from two roots:
1. They get a fair amount of business from airport travelers. How happy are you after a day of being cramped into an uncomfortable airline seat?
2. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, they are packed. I'm sure the wait builds expectations a little above what one should reasonably expect from a diner. -

Hotel has good and not so good features, the room is very nice, the bed (we had a king) is very comfy. The shower has some mildew in grout which seams unnecessary. The Airport diner down stairs is great. And prices are all around reasonable. We are on the fourth floor and can still hear a lot of traffic and aircraft noise. Wifi is poor, had to use my own. Coffee from the cute little coffee maker is not so good. Staff is friendly

Lunch/Dinner: 3 stars
Breakfast: 1.5 stars
Lunch or dinner here has always gone well. I really like their clubs & the hot dinners I've tried were good also. I think it's a solid choice & the portions are pretty generous too :) I really like the sweet potato fries & carrot cake.
Having said that, the breakfast here has been terrible. I keep going back every couple of months trying again because others recommend it and say it's so great. It's really not. The new menu touts their being voted best breakfast x years in
Manchester, but I don't see how.
Just this morning the waitress flat-out lied to me. I had a choice of beans or home fries. I like both, so I asked how the home fries are done. The answer? On the grill with onions & seasoned salt, they're soft. I order them, as this sounds great... In reality on my plate? Deep fried, no onions, not even any seasoning. They were shriveled hard little bricks. I seriously could have broken a tooth. Needless to say, but they were NOT eaten :(
Another disappointment was the special option ($1 extra) to have 'walnut pancakes' instead of plain. I would assume, and this might just be me, that this would be pancakes with walnuts cooked inside. Nope. This was a handful of raw chopped nuts sprinkled over normal pancakes. I'm fairly certain it's their sundae topping nuts. Very badly handled.
I am just going to forget that The Airport Diner does breakfast & not go before noon. -

Sandown, NH
I've eaten here a number of times and generally find it to be a good experience. At least good enough to keep me going back.
As far as the food quality goes, I've been very pleased with their breakfast items and sandwiches. The dinner offerings I've found to be a bit weaker.
Service can be highly variable though. Sometimes it's been great, very attentive, but other times the waitstaff has been very slow, forgetting parts of the order or just taking forever to show up at the table.
As far as diner's go, I think it's pretty decent. I prefer it over the Tilton Diner, and it's got more seating than the Red Arrow. -

After a long 5 hour flight from San Francisco, while I drove in the rain from MHT at 12:01AM, the lighted sign of the HOLIDAY INN was like seeing an oasis in a desert! I passed through the McDonald's Drive Thu (across the street from the hotel) to grab a late night snack. With my roller bag in one hand, and my sweet tea in the other, I was happy to be at the front desk. My compliments to the night clerk, who whisked me through the check in and presented the key for my two night stay. The staff was amazing, greeted me every time I passed through the lobby, and was of assistance printing out my boarding pass for the return flight. I would stay here again in a heart beat. It is very close to MHT Airport. Business travelers, leisure travelers, and families will be well served. There is a restaurant in the hotel which has a wonderful breakfast menu!

I had this twice when I was over there. The first time was picking up someone and the second time was when I was leaving from the area. The food is pretty good. It took a while when we left as we were in a hurry to catch a flight back, but when we passed through security they were jealous. It was good food.
I had the mac and cheese going back and a hot dog I think. I had the mac and cheese and was stuffed. The hot dog was eaten later back on the west coast. I liked the them of the restaurant. -

50's retro decor with toy airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Very decent diner food. Got my usual Eggs Benedict and it tasted perfectly fine. Friends got omelets and those were filled with melty goodness all around. Not a big fan of their homefries. Nice, strong coffee that made me feel a little better about my caffeine addiction since 10cents of every cup is donated to a charity.

I am a big fan of the Tilton Diner so was excited that another CMan diner opened in Manchester. I have been here twice and each time the basic diner food was blah and the service was not attentive. Disappointing.

A cute kitzy diner located at the Holiday Inn near the airport. We went during lunch at 1PM, were told the wait was 10 min but was seated in just a couple of seconds. I had the blueberry pancakes, short stack, which was predictable. The milkshake was a sweet addition- it came with sprinkles on top which I had never seen before. The turkey sandwich and reuben my friends ordered were generously sized and with a side of chips. Great, friendly service. Cute place to take the family or kids for lunch.

This is my second attempt at eating here (the first attempt when I first visited Manchester and was on my way to fly back to San Diego from the airport, but there was a broken water pipe or something and we couldn't get to the diner so we ended up eating at the McDonald's across the street). I ordered the Shepherd's Pie and it was nothing really special. Real mashed potatoes, corn, and ground beef. The ground beef wasn't drained so there was a big pool of grease at the bottom of my bowl. The prices are good and they have daily specials, which are pretty neat. College Night on Thursdays where you get one entree, get one free with a college ID. I wouldn't mind trying something else here again. It's a fun atmosphere, just like every other diner I've ever seen.

Breakfast seems to be a problem here. I did not have breakfast, so I can't comment on it. We got a late lunch/early dinner and it was pretty good. They have cherry coke - that means a coke with cherry syrup and a cherry in it, not just the stuff that comes out of the fountain. My husband got a tuna melt on cheese bread and I got the mac n' cheese. It was pretty good. I'm super picky about mac n' cheese and I prefer it baked instead of saucy, but this was pretty good for being saucy. They put potato chip pieces on top, which I didn't think I'd like, but that made it a little crunchy and salty. The portions were big enough that we didn't have room to even split dessert. I wouldn't travel up to Manchester just to eat here but I would certainly eat here again when traveling to o from the airport.

I've only ever been to the Airport Diner for dinner food, going to or from the airport. I personally like it. The food is typical diner food, but it's the atmosphere of the diner that makes it a place I like to go to. The interior has a 1950's aviation theme. I feel like I could look down the counter and see Chuck Yeager sitting there after flying his plane. In the back, there are cubbies with old Life magazines and retro ads for sale, based on year or topic. They also put an old fashioned paper hat on your table for kids (or kids at heart) to wear. It's a really cute idea.
As the name implies, the Airport Diner is on the way to the airport as you get off the highway. On a road with only fast food and gas station stores, it's a convenient place to stop for an actual meal before or after a flight.
I've sat in both the booths and at the counter, and honestly while sitting at the counter I was watching the line cooks whip up sandwiches and breakfast items quickly and more importantly, hygienically. They were also nice to us as we sat there.
Again, I haven't had breakfast food here, but I've been happy with my dinners. I honestly can't say much about the food at a diner that isn't already implied by the fact that it's a diner. You're not there for five star service or food. Diners are meant to be a quick eat with comfort food, and that's what you get here. If you don't understand that going into it, then I can't help you. The retro themed menu offers breakfast items, sandwiches, and diner favorites like meatloaf and chicken pot-pie. I ordered the pot-pie the other night and it was sooo hot - watch your tongue with that one! I have always been satisfied with my food here.
I plan to go back to the Airport Diner. It's a clean, cute diner with a variety of food to suit whatever mood you're in. I recommend getting a burger and a shake! -

we went here last night and it is part of why we are switching from the craptastic hotel we are at now to this one (the diner is attached to the holiday inn). i was hesitant at first and was pushing to go eat elsewhere but in the end was happy my coworkers are persistent.
we had the sweetest cutest waitress who was just perfect- super friendly, accommodating, offered us samples of things, talked to me all about the veggie burger, just really nice. the veggie burger was really good- so good that i got one to take home for lunch today- and it was just as good today. it had vegetables and walnuts and i think brown rice in it. my coworkers got liver and onions and chicken parmesan and both of them liked what they got a lot. they have a full bar, sell magazines and advertisements from the 50s and 60s on an 'honor system' in the hall and are open 5am-11:30pm (I think). we also met one of the chefs who was acting as a waiter that night and he was nice too. i like nice people. i like good veggie burgers. if you want to read about what i do not like read my last review before this one.Listed in: i love (vegetarian) food
