5 reviews for Holiday Inn Georgetown
This place is on the edge of Georgetown and close enough to walk to most of Georgetown. Like many of the places I've been in DC, it seems like it was a really nice place - about ten years ago. The fixtures are top notch, but they're starting to show their age.
Advantage: if you're a priority club platinum member, they'll comp your parking (way to go! I would have been reimbursed by my employer for the parking, but it still made me feel good).
Disadvantage: I could hear some dude in another room shouting obscenities at someone on the phone because he wanted his f***ing money by Friday or else there would be hell to pay (it was late and I laid in bed imagining him polishing his firearms and pondering on how he was going to dissect the body).
Advantage: Free internet! For some reason the middling to higher end hotels have seemed to flee from this perk. Thank you for continuing to give me something for free which costs you next to nothing.
Disadvantage: The internet went down for about an hour on the one afternoon I had free (I guess that's better than it going down while I needed to read e-mail).
Advantage: I'm not sure I've ever had a friendlier maid in a hotel where I was only staying for a few days. I don't know your name, Ms. Sixth Floor Senora, but your smiles in the hallway put a grin on my face everyday. Thank you.
It's not the most amazing hotel in DC but the price is good. Surrounded by restaurants and bars and everything in Georgetown, so I think a more enjoyable option than many of the other hotels in DC where you only have crappy tourist restaurants to choose from. They have a free shuttle from Woodley Park metro and a bus stops right outside. I organized a meeting at this hotel and the meeting space was adequate, again for a great price, and the staff was super helpful.
Yah know that line of that song, "...in the ghetto..."? That's the Holiday Inn. The only benefit is that it's close to the Circulator bus route & the National Cathedral. Everything else is nasty. The floor is gross, showers gross, etc. I usually can find the good in many things but I have stayed in motels better than this. Be sure to avoid!

The first reviewer was much too kind...
To begin with, I hate Holiday Inns, but that aside, this was still one of the worst overnight stays I've ever had. I was on the 6th floor overlooking the cemetery when I heard what I thought was loud orgasming. Seriously. I was like, are they serious in there?? Pipe down! But it didn't. In 5-7 minute intervals, I heard brief stints of a woman reaching orgasm, or multiples of them for HOURS and HOURS. Since the time I got to my room to dinner to getting ready for bed to going to sleep, or at least trying, too. I was thinking, is that even possible??? I was so disturbed, I wanted to complain. Something's just not right in there!
Next morning, I could still hear "it" going on in there, and requested to change rooms. I said it was the disruptive starting and stopping of the heater/AC, which also added to my sleep deprivation that day. So, I moved up to the 7th floor, where I had a distant view of the Washington Monument, Capitol Building and Georgetown University. Things were looking better... Then, I heard it AGAIN! WTF!? I thought I was going CRAZY!!! As it turns out, it was the creaky piping, but at least it didn't sound AS BAD as on the 6th floor.
But for real, if you're paying $278 A NIGHT, wouldn't you expect to have a restful night's sleep and comfortable accommodations at that price!?!? Oh yeah, I forgot. It's the Holiday Inn. They also have yellow pillows and dirty bedspreads. Word.

This hotel SUCKS. I stayed here before I moved to DC because it was close to the area I was looking at. It is way overpriced and parking was 20 bucks.. did I mention there was a RAT stuck in my AC?? We had to switch rooms at about 1am and the staff acted all pissed off, like it was our fault. Before the rat incident I stayed at the hotel about a 2 years ago.. and it was fine.. for 100 bucks. Management is piss poor here.
