Solid 3.5 star hotel with all the upgrades and amenities.
I was surprised how much I liked this hotel, the mattress was heavenly, Tempur-Pedic. I slept like a dream. The toiletries were all very cute in slim cylinder bottles. The showerhead gave excellent pressure, I didn't even have to adjust it once.
My only complaint was the bathrooms were small, when the door is open, you can't access the bathtub at all.
The food was your basic breakfast elements, if there's skim milk and raisin bran, I'm happy. They also provided chocolate chip cookie snacks when we checked in. The front desk agent was very helpful throughout our stay.
This Holiday Inn was connected to the Staybridge Suites so it had a rough comparison as the Staybridge was fairly deluxe. It did have a nice pool with a waterpark for the younger crowd and the breakfast was decent, though you could go over to the Staybridge and have breakfast over there as well. The room was a bit lacking, even simple hotels usually have a mini fridge or a microwave. This one did not. Smoking and non smoking rooms were also located right next to each other, so the hallways tended to smell often. We have stayed at another Holiday Inn Express in Newport that was much better. Maybe up the quality a bit since its next door to a Suite hotel.
