This is one of my favorite Holiday Inn Express locations. It feels like a much more expensive hotel when you walk into the lobby, but still offers all the great pricing and amenities of the Holiday Inn Express chain. They even validate your parking at the public garage next door.

Location is awesome and you are in walking distance of almost anything in the Historic District. For example, River Street (with it's heavenly smelling candy shops) is just across the street and down the cobblestone steps. Many of the Squares are close by and of course you just have to go to Paula Deen's or Mrs. Wilkes!!! The Pink House and Telfair Museum are also nearby.

They have a rooftop pool with great views of the harbor, suspension bridge and a nice exercise room just inside from the pool. Breakfast is nothing to get excited about, but it's free and a good variety of hot and cold items. Very attractive building, comfy beds, VERY CLEAN facilities & rooms, and really nice staff make this an ideal central hub to visiting this charming city.

You won't find a better location than this Holiday Inn Express, which is an easy walk to downtown eateries and attractions, and is just across the cobblestone arteries that lead to River Street.

Valet parking is worth the $14 per day, as parking in that area is cumbersome, and everything in downtown Savannah is walkable from the hotel.

The rooms were clean minus a few stains on the carpet and another on the wall under the window we couldn't discern what it might have been, but then again, maybe we didn't want to know. Aside from that, we were assigned to an adjoining room, even though I requested one without connecting doors on the web reservation, because my husband abhors them. We forgot to confirm it when we checked in, and by the time we had hauled our kids and our stuff up to the room after an almost four hour drive, he decided to overlook it this time.

From our seventh floor windows, we had a lovely view of the Savannah River and Bridge, but we could still hear some noise from the road. It didn't end up being a problem, but I was concerned about it because the only place big enough to set up the Pack N' Play for our 18-month-old was between one of the beds and the window.

Since we booked this hotel in part because of the allure of the rooftop pool described on their website the evening before, we were disappointed when we arrived to hear that it was closed for repairs. We were told we could use the pool across the street at the Best Western, which is not a rooftop pool. The idea of dragging our small kids and our pool gear across the street in our bathing suits was less than enticing, so we passed.

Breakfast was the typical cereals, bagels, muffins, toast yogurt, coffee and juices; the standouts were the bacon and sausage, which were better than one would expect. There are high chairs, but they don't have barriers that go between the legs of children that will keep smaller babies from falling through the openings.

I also left my purse at the breakfast table when we were rounding up the children, and didn't realize it until several minutes after I had returned to my room. When I returned for it, a staff member had rescued it and stored it safely, and all contents were intact.

If you are traveling to Savannah for a raucous St. Patrick's Day weekend, this certainly a place to consider.

Stayed here after reading yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! Nice rooms, comfy beds, clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. Loved the rooftop deck, the pool, views, exercise room. Breakfast was decent. Great location. And the price was right! Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay at this hotel.  The young lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly and the location simply cannot be beat.  We could walk to all of the wonderful restaurants and sites in the historic district from the hotel.  The room itself was in great condition.  Now I like my beds a bit
softer, but the hotel has to do what the brand tells them to do!  Free, hot breakfast as well. I'd definitely stay here again.

    LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!

This hotel is a great value for a stay in Historic Savannah.  My husband and I had no idea even where to go our first night there...we set out to explore.  We stumbled upon River Street and had a wonderful time.  THis hotel is beautiful...we had a wonderful view of the historic district and they gave us a free voucher for parking on the street when the lot was full.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and neat and tidy.  I wouldn't ever consider staying anywhere else in Savannah.

You really can't ask for a better location than this - truly the perfect place to be! You can walk everywhere, but you're enough of a distance from the bars on Bay Street that you don't hear the raucous drunks. We stayed in a suite, and I thought the rooms were a little small for the rate, but everything was impeccably clean and the staff was very polite.

We pricelined this hotel for Columbus Day weekend - and were happy about the rate we received (which was about $50 less a night than the hotel itself and other sites advertised.) Score. The hotel is in a great location - East Bay Street is one up from River Street - and thus, we had a pretty cool view of the barges going down the river. (We didn't select the room on priceline, but did get a water view.) The hotel was clean, had a nice quiet bar downstairs, and also features a hot breakfast until 10am (late, by most standards.) We were happy with how clean it was - and it was a sold-out weekend from what we were told, but the other patrons weren't loud. The staff was reasonably friendly - though not as much as I anticipated for southerners (I'm a northeastern girl.)

The first night, my boyfriend and I turned in early. We were both up at unreasonable hours (traveling) - and needed some rest for the rest of the weekend. Housekeeping banged (and opened) the door at 9PM! Have no idea why - thankfully, the bolt was on. I went to the door - and he acknowledged it was the wrong room. Saturday rolled around - we had no replacement bath towels. Called twice to get some so we should shower for dinner. Saturday night, our microwave started beeping at 5am - no idea why. We actually had to unplug it from the wall. We were up on Monday morning (Columbus Day) - and had housekeeping knocking on the door AGAIN at 930am. Why ? No clue. Again, we had the door bolted with the"privacy" sign on. Check out is at 11am. My lord - I regretted not calling management Friday night.

Push came to shove - we were getting our car from the valet (35 minutes to get the car - we thought it broke down, but they just forgot where they put it) - I had a discussion with a lovely manager about our experience. They ended up crediting 2 nights of our stay and our parking fee.

Advice: contact management if you find an issue - regardless if it is an isolated event. I truthfully - wanted a happy weekend with someone I hadn't seen in 3 months - not a credit to my card.

I am giving the hotel 4 stars based on the cleanliness, location, view, and ease of booking. The attention from management is really what saved this review. I would recommend this hotel to others - but would advice the hotel that the housekeeping staff need some manners and additional training. I am sure that they will work to resolve these issues. (And hopefully - they were isolated to a 'holiday' weekend, with a full roster of guests.)

Great for a business trip or St. Patty's Weekend.

I have never stayed in the rooms, but I have stayed in the suite/apartments that are behind the Hotel and owned by whoever owns the Holiday Inn/Hampton Inn/Mulberry Inn.  If you call the Holiday Inn they can give you more info.

Had I only stayed here once I'd probably give it 3 stars. But I've come to Savannah a billion times for business, and after long term stays at several places, this is my preference.

You have a nice sized kitchen, large beds, large televisions, huge bathrooms, and privacy. You also have your own parking space (although random people park in your designated spot and you have to get the staff to take care of it).

You are within walking distance of quite a few restaurants, for a variety of tastes.

The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to make you comfortable.

Is everything here perfect? No. But you can tell that the front desk associates are really trying to make a difference and raise the bar.

Breakfast? Meh. Bar? Meh. Location and Friendliness? TWO THUMBS UP.

Nice staff. Room with a good view. Ask for 6th floor on the riverside. The hotel is quiet, great pool.

The wifi is super slow and needs to be faster. Free breakfast was tasty.

Staff welcomes you in a great manner.

    Bar should stay open later.

Other than these notes it's a wonderful hotel and it's close to all the attractions.

I'm updating my review.  Though the building was nice and staff very friendly, when my bill showed up on my credit card it was completely messed up and i was overcharged substantially and for several additional nights.  Also had the incorrect room number on my billing info.  It took a while to get this straightened out.
Between the noisy pipes in the wall that would wake you out of a solid night's sleep and the time it took to fix the incorrect charges to my credit card, the rating needed to be dropped.

Previous reviewers have just about said it all. It's got a good location, with very clean rooms, exceptionally friendly staff, decent breakfast (potatoes are my minimum criteria for a good breakfast review, and this did not offer them, although the biscuits were tasty and eggs not bad). Also as stated, the parking is a little off-putting, but for me the valet parking was definitely worth the higher daily rate -- and of course, it sure helps to tip a dollar or two here and there for the best service!) But for me the definite drawback was lousy internet access in the rooms. I kept repeatedly getting disconnected, and man was it ever slow! This was just on the 3rd floor! I mentioned it at the front counter when I was checking out and they agreed it was a well-known problem. Access in the lobby is fine but that's kind of beside the point. When the signal from the hotel across the street is stronger than where you are staying then you know there's a problem! Also the fitness center is pretty small.
