Holiday Inn
4 reviews for Holiday Inn
Yup, that's right, five stars. Not because it's a 5 star hotel - it's a Holiday Inn - but because I think people know what to expect from a Holiday Inn chain, and this far outlived my expectations for a really, really nice stay.
First, they granted us an early check-in, which is so appreciated. The parking lot was spacious, easy to find, lots of space and some shaded spots. We were checked in around 2pm by a really nice, helpful woman whose name was...Nehani? Hehali? Lehani? Something pretty and tropical sounding that I vowed to remember. She was 60 and told us she had 26 grandchildren (thank goodness my mother wasn't there -she would never have stopped hounding me to get started). She gave us each a bottle of water and welcomed us, explained everything quickly and efficiently, made us feel so, so welcome, and got us in quickly. She even asked my name and shook my hand to welcome me, and I find most places, if you aren't the one with the credit card, look right through you. She was so, so nice.
The lobby is lovely - really high ceilings, plenty of furniture to have a sit on, a wall fountain, a chandelier, very spacious.
Our room was on the top (7th) floor, and nice. Our king size bed had four pillows and was very comfy. We had a coffeemaker with coffee, a shower with a curved shower rail (makes it much roomier in the shower and gorgeous sink/floor. It was a Holiday Inn room, but a very nice, clean, modern one.
The pool, which we hit immediately, is open 24 hours for adults, as is the small exercise room (which only had cardio machines - it would be great if they would add a bench and a few free weights, but that might be a liability thing or something). The pool isn't very big, but it's big enough, heated without being a bathtub, indoors with a small hot tub attached, clean, well-maintained with a few lounge chairs around.
My ONLY real suggestions/complaint for the Holiday Inn - you don't provide robes in the room, so provide DECENT-SIZED TOWELS at the pool. My boyfriend and I both cracked up and took two of the towels each. They were the size of handtowels (literally) and wouldn't even go around us, so I walked back through the lobby/elevator in my swimsuit, mustering dignity as best I could.
The A/C and heat work well, it's not very loud despite being right by thge freeway, there's a complimentary newspaper in the morning, and breakfast - a buffet, rather than typical continental breakfast of bread-product-juice-coffee was included as well. The buffet food wasn't fabulous; it was your standard hot trays of bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits plus some mixed fruit, cereal, and some sweets, and all of it was pretty basic, standard fare. But it's plentiful, there's something for everyone, and it's included in the room cost. And the staff were nice - when my boyfriend accidentally clattered his plate, a nearby waitress said "hey! settle down" and made us laugh.
I'd stay here again for sure. I had no complaints at all besides the tiny pool towels, and we had a really, great time.
(Oh - they let us check OUT late, too. Viva Staycation at the Holiday Inn in downtown Everett!)

Not a bad place to stay for downtown trips. I stayed here for ~3 months of weekdays a couple summers ago and have been back a few times recently. The rooms are clean and the beds are fairly nice. I really like the underground gated parking garage!!!
I haven't eaten in the restarante, but have eaten in the bar a LOT. Decent food for sandwiches and the like. Chicken fried chick was excellent. The new breakfast buffet is somewhat lacking, but it's free..so?

It's way up north, but it's right off the freeway. It's pretty good size and from the looks of the lobby, I thought it would be pretty nice inside.
Tiny little elevators made for a cramped ride up to the top and some uncomfortable chat with our fellow passengers. The room inside was spacious and pretty nice, given we had a doggie with us. Although the hotel smell was dominant in the hall ways.
This place only gets two starts because the restaurant in the lobby is horrible. Not much selection on the menu and the food was horrible. Even though we hadn't had much to eat that entire day, our entrees were not really digestible. The food was cheap and if it wasn't, I'm thinking they wouldn't get anybody to eat there.
Even though we were totally exhausted after a long day, I'm thinking a fast food place taken back to the room would have been a better option.
I disagree with MOST of the 1st to review CW...the Inn is nice, and at the top of it's class for mid-range lodging. It is renovated throughout and the rooms are nicely put together. The staff was very gracious and accommodating for our large (20+) group and even made sure that the kids in our party had meal vouchers. I will say that I agree with CW on the Pine Street Grille in the lobby...which is sub-Denny's in quality and presentation. Breakfast was better than dinner, but only by a small margin and it wasn't great. Still, I've stayed in really nasty places (see my review of the Comfort Inn, Gilroy CA)...and this place is a great value and an easy place to find off I-5 for a good night's sleep.
