4 reviews for Holiday Inn
A bit older, but still very nice.
The hotel is up the street from Knotts Berry Farm and just up the freeway from Disneyland. There are plenty of chain restaurants nearby, fast food joints (Wendys) and a Target.
Nice large pool and hot tub area. Lots of kids when I stayed there, so this place isn't really for relaxing by the pool.
The room was clean, but pretty standard. The bathtub had a rust stain near the drain. I stayed on the executive level which was supposed to have a free continental breakfast, but I found out they didn't serve it on weekends.
The workout room is very basic with some aging machines and an out of focus television. Two treadmills and two stationary bikes plus a Universal weight machine.
The food in the onsite restaurant was actually very good. I had the friday night "all you can eat" Prime Rib special which came with a fantastic salmon bisque and delicious mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy.
They do have a shuttle service to Disneyland and Knotts, but the schedule is haphazard (the last shuttle to return from Disneyland is 10:15PM almost two hours before the park closes).
I've had the pleasure to be a part of quite a few events at the Holiday Inn. First was back in 1994 when my grandparents had their 50th wedding anniversary and then about 10 years later in 2003 when I celebrated my 18th birthday. Three years later when my sister had her cotillion and then in 2007 and recently this past weekend when I was a debut/cotillion coordinator.
It's a great location, especially if you have family from all over Southern California. It's not too far for anyone to drive. Its minutes from downtown LA, minutes from the beach and close to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. Not to mention it's a great place to accommodate any size party. They have beautiful ballrooms to for any size party. They staff is super nice and the party coordinator is very helpful. It's great for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, cotillions/debuts, reunions, etc. If you ever consider any social event, this is a great place for receptions.
I won't lie, the hotel rooms are just like any other hotel room. But they are decent and you do have options. Regular rooms, suites and even penthouse suites.
They even have a restaurant next to the downstairs lobby called Ventanas.
I was told that my room was right on the beach! WOW!....but my friend actually meant BEACH BLVD! Hey, at least our room was directly across from the public pool. There is no greater joy than to be awoken by the screaming and splashing of strangers.
As for the room, it is a typical hotel room. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, but I'm spoiled with a Tempurpedic at home. Pillows will give your neck cramps. Internet connection is super slow. But this place is probably typical of most hotels/motels/inns that I have been to.
We had a reception here at Holiday Inn. The whole staff was nice and very helpful. The food was better than decent. We were comped the Penthouse suite which was huge. It's found on the 5th floor. The place had a nice pool that's easily accessible to everyone.
