Review Highlights
This is good reliable heart choking "I don;t give a &%$# - I am going to die someday" cuisine.
There are better burgers and sandwiches but every so often you have to get that death defying rush that only comes from clogging your arteries by eating at this type of greasy spoon joint.
Try it...it is not as bad as some of the reviews are suggesting.
conveniently located off freeway for a quick on and off if you are heading north on 405.
I tried it a few times because I like something that isn't completely fast food.
I went to Holiday Burgers and the guy gives me a hot dog with huge finger indentions crushed into the hot dog.
Maybe it was an accident, who knows. I like the hot dog bun to be like every other hot dog bun, like it comes out of the packaging.
I like the food here but I have to admit the girls who work at the counter are rude rude rude!
I can't even remember the last time they were nice to me. Call in your order and they don't even start it until you arrive and they don't even seem to care that you are waiting 15-20 min for your "called in order" They are just nasty girls. One more ruder than the next. My husband won't even go in there to get the food, he is disgusted by their rudeness.
I'm sure we will stop going there soon cause we just went there on Wed and she was rude AGAIN..funny thing, they have a TIP jar by the register and it is empty..GO FIGURE!
I've been here a few times, I can understand how some people "love" this place but as of last night I'm not going there again. I ordered a chicken salad and half way through enjoying my salad I saw this black bug and no it wasn't some teeny fruit fly where you can be like "well...it's harmless." no! this homie was gross, chillin in my salad, dead because I drenched it with dressing. I told the girl about it and even tried to show her so she wouldn't think i was trippin but she didn't care and just offered to make me a new one. no I didn't want a new one from the same lettuce batch..... She was kind of rude about it as if I was bugging her about it. no pun intended. Anyways, one star for this joint and I want to be like other reviewers and say: I wish I could not give them any stars....
Your Homegirl,
Violy
P.S.
I'm not going back.
OK this place would have gotten an A-OK 3 star rating had it not made my family sick like 2 weeks ago. I like their cheeseburgers a lot but lately it has gotten sloppier and sloppier and the customer service has been getting worse too. Yes I know the drive thru takes forever and the chic ringing me up quickly is not going to get me my food any faster but that does not mean she should come up to the window tell me the total and then proceed to text message while i hold the money out of my window so she can take it, and then when she finally looks up she has this face like I am bothering HER! Um no the food is not THAT good to deal with funky attitudes.
The breakfasts are cheap like someone else mentioned and they are good as well but their recent carelessness and crappy customer service (seriously if you hate your job deal with it don't take it out on the customers) makes me not want to go back even though they are a hop skip and a jump from my house.
I gave them 3 stars only because the food is not bad and they WERE really good in the past years so I am hoping they are just going through a phase or something.
Is this Under new Management? because it SUCK!!!!!!!!
went here Yesterday after being on my list for a couple months..
First they did not have Milk Shakes? as posted a month ago?
I Ordered 1/4lb with Chili Pastrami fries and drink.
The Pastrami on the fries is the only thing saving this place from my 1 star sucker punch.
1/4 was weak....or i think they served me a reg holiday burg by mistake. burg was ok .
new Marble table tops???
i've been coming here for yearssssssss. I personally like it better than King's burger, but sometimes it's just a little too heavy.
i don't eat burgers, but i've had almost everything else one the menu, and almost everything is good. I'd have to say that the fried zucchini and chili cheese fries with pastrami on top have to be my two favorite things. I come here more for a really bad junk food snack, rather than a really bad junk food meal. it's very satisfying and always hits the spot.
My dad used to come here since before i was born but i never tried it until about 5 years ago. Unfortunately. I was missing outtttt!
And you are too if you haven't checked this place out yet.
Get to it.
This is where I go when I want to eat myself into submission. Their chocolate shake is the best around, not too thick and the large size is huuuuuuuuuge.
Chili-cheese fries are also a personal favorite. Hey, I said I eat bad when I go here.
Also, my dad used to take me here for breakfast when I was a little kid. As far as I remember, it was pretty good too.
Yummy cheap eats!
When I moved to Mission Hills I knew I needed to find the next great neighborhood burger joint. I stopped for gas at the Arco next door and saw that Holiday had a drive through. A drive through! Woo hoo!
I've had the avocado burger, the pastrami burger, the gyro and last but not least the fried zucchini. The burgers are super huge and really juicy. The fried zucchini is awesome. Here you get a brown paper bag full of their FZ. It is soooo good!
I always get this bad guilty feeling AFTER I've eaten here. But, OMG...you can't get burgers any better than this. I haven't been up early enough to try their breakfast but I'm sure it is to die for like the rest of their food. I'm a little iffy on the Mexican food they offer here. I've tried their steak taco and it wasn't that good. So, just stick to the burgers and stuff.
What's a few blocked arteries between friends?
Yes, the food is greasy good and the portions are enough to feed a small 3rd world country, but its worth it! The prices are cheap, the food is yummy and once you go, you'll wish you'd known about it for years. Here are my suggestions:
BREAKFAST: they have an amazingly cheap meal - 3 eggs, sausage or bacon and toast - for about $3.
LUNCH: anything. Burgers best of all, or the pastrami dips with chili fries...OH GEEZUS, I'm coming!
DINNER: anything you didn't eat for lunch.
---
One thing though, since they prepare everything fresh when you order, it does take a minute or two to wait. Drive thru is available but not a good option...
Everything here will make you leave feeling full and heavy, with grease stains on your shirt. Did I mention you'll be okay with all that because the food is that good?
I'll always be happy with alot of food, for relatively cheap prices. Yes, it's more $ than McD's, but the extra couple of dollars is really worth it.
I'm getting heartburn just thinking about their chili fries (and I think I'll go there tonight!).
Many years ago when I was a young and innocent lad of prepubescent years, I loved me some hamburgers (I still do, but mexican cuisine has now trumped the poor burger's ass in my old age). I could have eaten burgers from dawn to midnight. Until I tried Holiday Burger, however, I didn't know what a true hamburger was. Holiday is the Platonic ideal of a hamburger: juicy, meaty, tasty goodness on a bun. (Then I discovered the late Don's Place in Burbank which was EVEN BETTER than Plato's hamburger, but it sadly burned down a few years ago.) They also have perfect french fries. I've never tried anything else at HB because there's really no need. Think In N Out, but one grade higher in terms of food quality.
The lines are long and busy at lunch. The interior of the seating area is grimey, so take it to go.
Ah, memories. Greasy, juicy, delicious memories.
When I'm about to start my long commute home, I bypass all those chain places and stop here for my cholesterol fix. I mean a whopper here is the same as a whopper there, right? So why not get some grub from a place that you can't get near home?
The pastrami & fries special always hits the spot. I'm sure my triglyceride levels soar 50 points after each stop here. But my doctor be damned... I need my salty snacks! He's not the boss of me.
Anyway...
Lean, smoky, and salty pastrami piled high on a french roll. Great fries that fill the bag and are very salty. The chili burger I had here wasn't so great, the chili seemed to be just "off". Don't know how else to describe, you just know it when you taste it. The service could have been faster, but that just equals freshly prepared food and no heat lamps. Always a thumbs up in my book.
I have been here a couple of times and the food was good. Have I had better? Yes, but this place is good for the price. I have had the pastrami burger, which was good but nothing special and I have had the breakfast sandwich, which was really good.
NOM NOM NOM...... chilli cheese fries topped with pastrami ($1's worth) OMG this puts 10lbs on me but is the best most filling and best pastrami EVER!!!!! add some grilled onions and we're set I love this place =D
alright. you're lookin for a greasy spoon in the north end of the valley? you got it. holiday is great fast food. and it's not all the fast, i believe that's what makes it great. two people can eat for less than 15, and that's not bad considering the burgers are huge and the sandwiches are chaulk full of meat.
i go there with a good friend of mine a least once a month. he always gets a double cheeseburger. and, if you've read any of my other reviews, you probably know that i usually get some kind of sandwich. most recently, i got a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. it was amazing. thick slices of ham, american cheese, alomg with lettuce and tomato. i don't really like the taste of red meat. the only burgers i usually eat are in n out or chili's, but this place is just as good. i've had a burger from here on more than one occasion and loved it.
i also think this place is killer for their homemade onion rings ans fried zuchinni, along with their chili fries with cheese, and no onions. i've never had the breakfast there, but hear it's good.
the only reason i'll knock off one star is because it can get pricey. a burger, a sandwich and chili fries can run you around $15. but that's for two people.
Holiday burger is one of my favorite burger places in the valley besides In-n-Out. I suggest drive thru if you have a few extra minutes; because the inside is always hot and feels sticky. The food is really good though always get fried zucchini and a veggie burger with cheese. It is top notch!! My boyfriend gets the pastrami cheeseburger and the bites I've had of his have always made me want one myself. The one time I did it was way too big for me to finish, but I guess that's good right. You can also eat outside which is fun and the gas station right next door always has the lowest price around.
I love Holiday Burger. You can never go wrong with any of their food. The fried zuchinni is to die for[litterally, my arteries are suffering due to the clogage], they batter them in light crispy batter. The chicken fingers are frozen, but they taste so good, I think they fry them in what I call "Godly Grease" where it makes them so tasty! The burgers are great too! A real good, charbroiled taste. I have had the burritos, I'm not too much of a fan of their burritos, because they load them with meat. The tacos are great though! I have also had the pleasure of getting breakfast with Holiday Burger, the pancakes are a recommendation! Everything at Holiday Burger is served in hearty portions, so be prepared to share!
Awesome place for food. Great club sandwich, fries, pastrami, and fried shrimp. Even better is the $3.49 french toast breakfast! The other items are all over $6 though. But with the club sandwich, you get the sandwich, fries, and onion rings... so i guess its okay.
the best tasting and biggest pastrami sandwich i have ever had. it is two meals in one. and it is not the kind of sandwich that is all bread. it is almost 2 lbs of meat on a thin sandwich slice. this is a two handed job to wat one of these. if i starved myself for a week then went to this place i still wont be able to finish the sandwich. the is not just for the pastrami it is for all the meat sandwiches.
I went here after I was soooo dissatisfied by Denny's service. The food came out quick and when I started eating, it tasted soooo good. Not the very best food to eat because it is greasy and fattening but still good to eat. The prices were VERY reasonable compared to Denny's (cheap) and so I most definitely recommend going here.
I tried the pastrami burger and dinner salad. I got very sick, it never sat well in my stomach and I vomited later in the day. My friend had a pastrami sandwich and he did not feel good afterwards either.
