I'm updating to up a star. Since my first review and my first trip to Hoboken, I have been back multiple times. It's close to home, so it's kind of hard resisting walking to the window and getting a slice. I've even walked my pug to the window at 1:30am for a slice to be consumed by me. Humans win again.

I've also ordered an entire pizza from this place in an effort to be an awesome sister. My brother just got done playing a show nearby and said he was hungry. I decided to go buy a pizza for him and his band. I asked for the largest meat pizza they could give me, and they did not disappointment. It was like a pizza made for Adam Richman on Man v. Food. The pizza was demolished in about 2 minutes, and everyone thought it was delicious.

It's still not a pizza I'd eat with a side salad and a glass of water, but I don't think that is the point of Hoboken anyways. It's greasy, cheesy goodness!

* SF foodie rant *

Where are my gourmet spinach and feta cheese pizzas!

Kidding.

Don't look for them here.  The thin crust slices are generous enough to satiate even the drunkest of drunks.  (amazingly enough, I was sober)  Okay pizza that comes with friendly service. Choose among cheese, pepperoni, veggie combo, pay your $3.50 and scarf that pizza down.  It may not be the best pizza ever, but the guy with the mean mohawk tossing fresh pizza dough at 2am is a sure winner.

I ordered pizza to be delivered from Hoboken for the first time during last night's Monday Night Football game. My friends and I were amazed at how quickly it arrived. Both the person taking the order and the delivery person were a step above the typical Dominos or Pizza Hut employee.

The pizza here is much better fresh out of the oven.

I got one delivered last week and it was excellent!!  Having lived in NYC I'm always on the lookout for a fantastic, foldable slice and they were spot on.  Having only had their pepperoni I can't comment on the variety of offerings but if you want a good, delivered pizza that's an Austin original with a New York twist I'd go here...

The business may be Jersey, but the crowd and employees are all Austin.

I may not know an "East Coast," pizza by sight, smell and taste, but I do know what tastes good to me, and this was it. The crust was great, sauce was perfect and each ingredient on the Meat Lovers pizza was extremely tasty, as well. 14" Meat Lovers + 2 drinks for $22. I was also happy to see the Dublin Dr. Pepper.

Staff was great, and very much Austin. The location is unassuming, and fits perfectly with the idea of a "dive," and just grabbing a slice of pie.

Good Job

Finally a pizza that comes as close as I'm probably going to get to pizza from that special part of the country that serves the best pie.

And in walking distance of my office too.

If I could give it six stars, I would.

two slices and a soda for $6.51 at lunch. win win win.

It's ok but not the best in the area.

If it's a bar night go down to Stony's on the corner of 6th & Red River. If you want delivery downtown go to East Side Pies.

I'd give it three stars but it gets a one star deduction for the time you took over 2 hours and the fact that your delivery driver didn't have a cell phone.

Teetering between 3.5 and 4 stars, but giving the benefit of the doubt since I got delivery to my hotel and didnt visit the place.  The service (over the phone) was cheerful, helpful and fast, as was the delivery - they quoted 45 mins but I think it was maybe 30 mins tops.

The pizza was good - not crazy good but definitely nothing to complain about - I got the Hawaiian which is my favorite and they were generous with the canadian bacon and pineapple.  The crust was chewy and good - and big enough to fold over NY style.

I was also excited that they had "mexican coke" (which sounds funny ordering over the phone, hope the phone's not tapped!) but unfortunately my hotel is not equipped with a bottle opener so it took a few minutes while I tried a few Macguyver techniques* to get into it. Might I suggest to Hoboken Pie to send their delivery orders with bottle openers (can do the keychain kind with their logo and phone number on it!) so other order-in patrons don't ruin their white pants trying to open a mexican coke!

*tried using the glass edge on top of the TV stand/armoire, the "rape prevention" bar on the hotel room door, and (finally, success!!) the metal indention in the door where the lock goes in - unfortunately it's at waist level and requires the bottle to be horizontal, so proved to be a little messy!

all in all, I think this place would definitely hit the spot after a night of drinking, just as well as it satisfied my desire to have dinner in my pjs while watching the making of Animal House :)

We ordered this last night (was actually with Dan A) and it did come quick.  Other than that though - this is one of the worst pizza's I've ever come across.  They are FAR from anything in Jersey.  They are lacking in cheese and grease and the crust was tough(beyond just chewy).  I might try it again fresh out of the oven since Dan says it's better but at this point I'm extremely disappointed in what seems to be a very cheap, low quality pizza.

There are better options for Jersey style pizza in Austin.  I would suppose their high ratings come from the lack of competition downtown for this style of pizza.  Either that or yesterday was just a really bad day for them.

Update:  I'm adding 1 more star to their rating because of the quick response and offer to make things right.  It's not often a pizza parlor goes the extra mile to satisfy their customers.  When I've tried it again I'll update this review accordingly.

I ordered a pizza from them on Friday night, knowing I was getting sick and wouldn't feel like cooking. For $18.00, I got a 14" pizza with double Teese, mushrooms, onions, artichokes, and black olives. It was very satisfactory. I enjoyed it more than the pizza I had at the Parlor a few weeks ago (although that one was also worthwhile) - this one had thin crust, which I prefer; Teese is still the best for pizzas, in my humble pie opinion; and they deliver.

Some other vegans have complained that there wasn't enough Teese on the pizza they ordered, and I tend to agree, being a more-cheese-less-sauce type of person myself, but when I placed my order the guy explained to me that, because of the way Teese melts, they can't put a lot on there without it running off the pizza pan and into the stove. Fair enough. This pizza had enough Teese for me, since it was thin crust (the best - big bonus points for the thin crust). My only complaint was that, ordered at 5:30pm on a Friday, it took a good hour and fifteen minutes to arrive, and was barely warm. I look forward to eating a pie in house next time I'm down on Red River of a Saturday night.

I've never been a particularly massive fan of pizza in general, but it's growing on me.  I've never pasteurized anything that can be pasteurized, I've never lived in Jersey, been to a Springsteen concert, peered across the water at Manhattan (okay, I've done that *once*), never seen the rows of supposedly aesthetically pleasing homes that dot the Hoboken cityscape.  I mostly know Sinatra on reputation and recordings, though I did hear something about the kind of pickles the man ate once. That's a story for another time.

I've never done any of those things, so I can't tell you as someone who bleeds marinara sauce and talks up the turnpike what all pizza is supposed to taste like.  For that matter, I can't tell you the intrinsic benefits of flat versus thick crust, stuffed versus margherita pies, spinach versus artichoke versus canadian bacon.  It's not how I roll my dough.  I can, however, impart plenty about pizza experiences that bring me some of the happy, and I thought there was plenty going on here to chirp about.

For starters, the slice of pepperoni I made out with combined just the right about of gooey goodness with a heaping helping of crisp baked dough.  Just what the doctor ordered, if the doctor had a doctorate, in, well, pizza. Okay, maybe an associates degree.

I have lived in Hoboken (on Willow Ave) and grew up in Austin, so I might be one of the only people who can both remember what a real Jersey slice tastes like and can give credit where it's due for trying to faithfully reproduce it in Texas.  I'm not saying my opinion matters more, but Hoboken is only one square mile, and how many people can say they've been to Benny Tudino's and its hipsterized Texan imitator?

It is no cigar, to be honest.  But it is quite close.  Above all, it tastes very good, and isn't that what matters above authenticity?  If Hoboken has a pizza vernacular, it would mean that this outpost should be run by Albanians who only look Italian but are otherwise Balkan through and through.  Also, Hoboken is quite the pricey, yuppified exclave of Manhattan, but its pizzerias are not this clinical and metallic inside.  And its pizza boys aren't cute and under the age of 30.  Regarding the form and structure, the slices need to be slightly longer, and there's no way to get the hard water that makes Jersey/NYC pizza taste so good.

Also, when attended to by the cashier, I said, "I'll have a slice," and he said "which slice?" which is a major blow because "I'll have a slice" in the NY/NJ metro area means "I'll have a slice of cheese pizza".  But I digress.

But that's all minutiae - the pizza at Hoboken Pie is quite good, among the best in Austin if not the best.  It's worth the slightly higher prices, and it's far and away the best option downtown - all those greasy stands on 6th Street, now that's a disservice to food carts in all boroughs of all states of the Union.

So it can't be 5 stars, just like a Lexus can't be a Mercedes, but Hoboken Pie is a fantastic slice of pie.

"I'll have a slice" next time I go drinking on Red River, and you should do the same.

I'm not sure exactly what all the good reviews are about but perhaps it's because pizza isn't Austin's forte. Let me repeat, pizza isn't Austin's forte. Yes there are some transplants from points east and west that can really deliver on pizza but apparently the recipe was lost in transit.

I had the vegan pizza with mushrooms, peppers, and olives. Okay, vegan and pizza may seem a contradiction but think about it, if the ingredients are fresh, the pizza dough well made and the especially the sauce really tasty, it's matter of preference for ingredients beyond that. And besides, I'm  not vegan, my gf is.

That brings me to the pizza, whether it was vegan or not, the olives weren't the ones told to us, just your generic olives and yes try some of the better olives and you're agree, there is a big difference, the peppers were fine, the mushrooms were ok but wonder what it be like using baby portabellas or oyster mushrooms instead of generic white. The sauce was horrible insomuch it was tasteless tomatoe paste/sauce combo. The dough was also hard to chew. I won't mention the vegan cheese as well....vegan cheese bites ass and even my gf would agree so no point ruminating over that.

Let me think, would using sausage or pepperoni be any better. Maybe a little but if you can't get the basic dough and sauce right, then I'm loathe to appreciate that adding dead animals would be that much better.

Now I grew up in chicago so I know good pizza especially as a pie but having been to NY many times, lived in SF and currently in L.A.., well let's just say I know good pizza when I have it. This isn't one of them by a long shot. And I've had really really good vegan pizza which was in Tucson, AZ of all places. In fact, the only place I've ever had good vegan pizza. It's too bad you can't find that at major cities like the ones I've mentioned.

As for the Hoboken expats thinking this is good...really?! My vegan gf is from Jersey and she can honestly say this isn't a good pizza. Of course I didn't ask if this is what Hoboken pizza is like as we couldn't get past the blah eek taste of it all but maybe Hoboken pizza bites!

I probably wouldn't make a special trip over to Red River to eat here, but last night when I was hungry after catching a band at Cub DeVille, a slice of pizza is just what I needed. There were not a lot of pizzas by the slice to choose from. I think when I stopped in all that was available was Sausage & Pepper, and plain cheese. I chose the sausage and pepper and was happy with my choice. It has a nice crispy thin crust which is my favorite.

The guy in the back was throwing dough like crazy trying to keep up with demand. Extra points for serving Mexican Cokes and Dublin Dr. Peppers.

While it might not be the absolute best pizza in town, it is definitely better than most street food around downtown late at night.

When on sixth street there are many choices for pizza.  I am here to tell you that Hoboken Pie is the best the area has to offer.  Hoek's, Ropolo's, Jackalope and Stoney's are all there to confuse the drunk into buying sub par pizza but these guys beat them quite handily.  Having tried them all, I declare Hoboken the champ!!! I have eaten here many times now and it is quite simply a very good pizza joint.  Service is quick and friendly.  Just the place to go when you are heading to a show on Red River.  I always order plain cheese and it has never failed to kick much ass.  The crust is crispy and they do not over-sauce.  I lived in New York City for many years and ate the best they had to offer when it came to pizza.  This is a good representation of NY style pizza.  Only Homeslice is better IMHO.

Like it or not, Hoboken Pies, more or less, makes a proper, NYC/Jersey, street corner slice. Austin has a really hard time with pizza, and HB is just about as good as it gets.

It's not a gourmet, froofy, toppings-driven experiment, but an excercise in the fundamentals.
For those of you who have not ventured far from the lonestar state, this is approximately what you'd taste if you walked into any given New Yorker's favorite corner joint. To be clear, in Jersey or the city this perhaps may even be considered mediocre... But in Austin, it's an oasis.

The crust underneath is paper thin, yet maintains a light, pronounced crunch. The sauce is well balanced: sweet, tart, but not sour. The cheese is solid, in terms of amount, type and quality.

Now, it may not be your favorite, but it's pretty much as close to authentic as you're going to find in this town.

Also, the hipster thing is nauseating and the waitress was not pleasant.

Hoboken Pie serves up pizza "Jersey Style".

This means that (multiple choice):

a) They serve you a plain, uncooked potato.
b) They beat the shit out of you and steal your money.
c) They serve you a nice, big, greasy, thin crust pizza pie.
d) They serve you a box of crayons and a shark hat.

Strangely, the interior is clean, bright, and friendly... not very Jersey-like.

No, I'm teasing.  Jersey is cool.

And the correct answer is b)

No, wait, the answer is c)

And seriously, I like Jersey.  My grandparents are from there.

Good pie, and without question authentic, but there's something about the price and pie choices that prevents the 5-star review. There's also the lack of seating, slightly high prices, and lighting that kinda says "get your slice and get the f*ck out!"
But I LOVE the logo, tag and menu layout/design. Can I give 5 stars to the design firm? Let's see more T-shirt options!

Wow, oh wow. You know my ass can't deny pizza. Shit, look at my thighs. Just today one of my gal pals sent me a text about a miracle anti-chafing cream for these sexy ol' thighs in the summer heat. Oh how I wish I were joking about this. (It's in the aisle with the condoms if you're interested.)

That all being said. I eat late. I eat drunk. I eat at god awful times that I know I shouldn't eat. I even eat within that thirty minutes before swimming.

Tonight would be no different. Except for when I ran into Hoboken Pie after leaving The Mohawk, there would be no pizza for veggie gals like myself.

Grrrrr... but, lovely mustachioed pizza man said to hold my horses. He kinda looked like my Dad from the 1970s back when he was cool and sold a shit ton of meth so I totally held my horses. Who knows what could have happened if I didn't. Don't fuck with Dad. Or Dad lookalikes. What the eff does "hold your horses" mean anyway?

Fifteen minutes of unexpected pizza ethnography.

I decided that I would work here for free and donate all of my tips as long as I could taser at least one of three people who walk through the door. Some examples of people I'd love to taze (PILT) from my mental field notes:

Exhibit A:
"Cha ching cha ching" as loudly as possible coming from the woman buying pizza who you just look at and know she has a whole collection of Mickey Mouse figurines displayed in her living room.

Yes, wow, that's a cash register. Perhaps you saw one when you purchased those elastic waistband pants you're wearing along with those black socks and white Reeboks from 1994.

Moving on.

Exhibit B:
No, dude, you cannot get a discount for having one of the few last slices of a pie. You're a fucking asshole even for asking. Especially when that shit looks as fresh as that pubic hair you're trying to grow on your face.

I hope you die.

Exhibit C:
Wow. Yes, there's a pizza called the Danzig. No, Beavis, this is not an opportunity to break into a loud and obnoxious recounting of  how much you wanted to bone all the members of Danzig. Nor does anyone want to hear about you masturbating and crying to the lyrical genius of Danzig. Save that shit for your kids.

Now take your g-d Hawaiian pizza and hit the road, Jack, before I have to cut you.

On second thought, people like you who do air guitar in public deserve to have their arms cut off to be donated to people (or fed to sharks) who really need them: Soldiers. Bus drivers. Fluffers. People who make really good pizza. Like these guys.

Seriously, Hoboken Pie, I have a really cute new taser picked out and can work most weeknights. Call me!

I love pizza. What I mean by that is, I love pizza like Amy Winehouse loves coke. Good, bad, I don't care. If it's pizza, just put it in my face.

So as I walked to Emo's to check out the Roky Erickson show, I noticed this new establishment in between Headhunters and Room 710. While my cold exterior displayed no emotion other then a "oh, new joint. whatevs", my mind was acting like Color Me Badd just showed up and told me the song "I Wanna Sex You Up" was about ME! I prayed that it would be open late on the return trip to the car.

After getting my face melted (get it melted? cheese? I kill me.) by Mr. Erickson, Jarrett and I started the long trek to the car. Sure enough, Hoboken is open late. Being new, there was no line, the place was clean, and everything still had a kind of sterile, quiet vibe to it. The pizza looked like it was almost ready for a shift change, but no signs of oven life could be seen. The two guys working were nice, and didn't have any visible open sores, which is always important to me. I would give specifics on how much the slice cost, but I don't remember. it was 3 somethingorother.

Since I am a squeeze my toothpaste from the middle kind of guy, I got a pepperoni slice. Also, since I love pizza so much, it's sometimes hard for me to differentiate taste between slices. I would say it's still got that downtown taste to it. Nothing stood up and said "I have been delivered from the PIZZA GODS!" However, I didn't go "This sucks" so that's good. Also, the location is killer. No longer if you rock the red river, must you trek to 6th to get your booze fueled hunger for melted cheese on top of breading quelled.

All in all, a decent pizza experience. I am sure I will be back as I find myself on Red River a bit, always with that insatiable lust for the pizza.

So... My friend(who is Vegan) really wanted to try this place out after hearing that they have vegan pizza. We get there, and him, being the anus he is, asks them every question under the sun about what brand cheese they use. The guy behind the counter did not know much in the way of "fake cheeses" so he decided to just let us look at the package and see for ourselves. Turns out, both the soy and rice variety of so called "vegan" cheese products contain casein (or milk protein) Which makes them not vegan! Luckily the manager was there, and we let him in on the little problem. He was SO cool about it. Very apologetic, and very shocked. He even asked us what cheese product we preferred and promised us that he would have it in the store as soon as possible. So vegans look out- real vegan pizza from Hoboken Pie is coming soon.

I only gave this place 3 stars because we did not get a chance  to eat there. When I do, I will come back and change it based on my opinion.

Better than Rounders and Homeslice(!)!
This place is HEAVEN!  I stopped in once at about 2am and had a slice of cheese (a steep $2.50 but worth it).  I've had my share of NY style pizza and this place is amazing.  The crust is thin and a bit crunchy with a good sauce to cheese ratio.  The sauce is also very tasty.  Hoboken Pies is by FAR the closest to NY pizza Austin has to offer!!  I love how they are open until 2:30 am.  The one drawback is that there are just a few small tables.  There is limited street parking but most people are on foot in that area anyhow...

Straight up Jersey style pizza.  Simple.  Incredible.  Crust is perfectly thin but still a bit chewy.  Those who know what NY/NJ/NorthEast pizza really is, will instantly recognize that this is the real deal.

This pizza tastes funny and I can name at least two places in town that have better dough.    I sure hope they're not importing their water from NJ, because it sure would be a waste of effort on such marginal pizza.  I bet they get the rest of their ingredients from Walmart, because that's how it tastes.  Cheap.

Pizza is one of my favorite types of food. I make it from scratch at least a couple of times a month because Austin just does not have many good pizza joints. Well they do now. This place makes the perfect pizza. There's really nothing I can complain about food-wise. The crust is great, and folds perfectly.

I've been to Homeslice, Rounders, Mangias, east side pies, Austin Pizza, Mangeria's Pizza Cafe, and all the other street-pizza vendors and this place is superior to them all. Bonus for being in the coolest part of town as well.

My only complaint is that it's essentially a "street pizza" shop. You can't go in, get a table, relax with some friends, and eat pizza and drink beer.

Oh, pizza, how I heart thee.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should probably mention I know both owners, which is why I've avoided reviewing HP for so long. But seeing as how this place makes the best "holy-cow-it's-happiness-in-my-mouth" pizza in town, I HAVE to review them.

I've been trying to convince them for a while now that their tag line should be "Hoboken Pie -- We're awesome. Even sober." I keep getting shot down, but it's still accurate.

Their pizza is awesome. Even sober, as it were. Their crust has that just-right crispiness that makes it oh-so-foldable, their sauce has the slightest hint of sweetness (no idea what's in it, as apparently their sauce recipe is a secret guarded closer than the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices), their cheese gives the perfect amount of flavorsome kick to it, and their toppings are fresh and tasty -- and don't overwhelm the pie.

Y'all, go. Your mouth deserves it.

*Edit: I forgot to mention their ginormous delivery area. Call 'em -- there's a good chance they'll deliver to you.*

Ok, I will admit it, I am a little jaded. The guy who owns this place used to sit right next to me before he got a promotion. He tweaked and tweaked his pizza recipes until he got it right. This guy is from New Yorks and is a Pizza junky. He can tell you all the great pizza places and tell you were to go for great pizza.

Jason's pizza is quite good. I love a pizza that does not have too much sauce and isnt covered with a ton of toppings. You want authentic New Jersey style pizza? This place it it. If you see Jason working during the weekend, tell him Wylde Bill sent you over.

I'm a teenage mutant ninja turtle when it comes to pizza.  Seriously, I challenge you to find a pizza that I actually think is revolting.  Oh wait, that one place in Austin that starts with a "G" and ends in an "-attis"....yeah, that pizza sucks.

Hoboken Pie pizza does not suck.  In fact, I believe it is in the top three 'local' pizza joints in Austin.  The other two aren't even downtown.  Downtown sucks.  People that only hang out downtown and eat pizza drunk at 3am suck.  Hoboken Pie is just the opposite.  It's so good, I'll make a trip on down to dreaded 'downtown' just to grab a pie.  I'll serve it for a meal.  I'll eat it sober!  I'll savor a pie after a running a 5k.  I'll even take my momma there.

As a matter of fact, the only thing that I don't like about Hoboken Pie, is that they'll even consider catering to veggie-weirdos and offer a vegan (however real or fake) pie selection.  Pizza isn't pizza without real meat and real cheese.  Likewise, humans aren't humans without consuming a little sausage every now and then.  Vegans shouldn't be allowed to review a delicious pizza joint.  It's an oxyMORON.

Extra pepperoni on that pepperoni-and-pineapple pie, please!

PIZZA IS SERIOUS BUSINESS:

Listen up fellow Austinfolk...Is there anyone here originally from the NJ/NYC area?  I bet that is a stupid question.  But if so, then you know why I've been peeved to high heaven since I moved here in March 2007.  Why?  B/c Austin is highly lacking in 3 departments:  Pizza, Korean and a damn good bagel store open 24 hours.  I'm from Fort Lee, NJ where bagel stores, pizza and Korean food are just everyday business.  I came here to find all kinds of Mexican food, which is GREAT don't' get me wrong b/c NJ doesn't have that...but still.  I've tried the Korean food here and every pizza place people around here claim are great like Homeslice...ummmm NO.  Not the worst and not even bad, but if you want the REAL deal, then until Hoboken Pie, Austin was majorly lacking!  The closest to home pizza I've found is Southside Flying Pizza (if you go there, get the Spinach and Port. Mush. personal - YUM)....But anyway, I've heard people around here claim Austin Pizza is good.  It's gross!  The cheese is like one big lump mass that doesn't even taste right, the sauce is probably Ragu and the crust is thick like the soles of Nike Boings...yeah, nasty!

I'm talkin' thin crust...I'm talkin' the perfect sauce...I'm talkin' the perfect fold...I'm talkin' HOBOKEN PIE!  FINALLY!  This guy is going to make a mint!  Now, I discovered it like one or two weeks ago and finally tried it last week.  I walked in and immediately smelled the crust baking.  NYC/NJ pizza has a particular smell...and it was in the air for sure.  I ended up having 3 slices!  I usually do 2 but holy crap I couldn't believe my tastebuds..soooooooooooooooo very happy.

What is sad is that locals may not really catch on w/ the goodness b/c you've never had the real deal.  But if you have, then you'll get it.  And yes it's a snobby thing...I'm very proud of my pizza heritage hahahah!!!

Oh yeah, I started talking shop w/ the owner who is from Jersey City (no wonder!) and he is a super nice dude.  I did tell him though that I thought the pizza was a biiiiiiiiiiit on the pricy side.  But for the quality, I would pay 2x the amount.

Here I am chowing down...I didn't know my betch Felicia was going to post this, but I am glad she did b/c it's just a reminder to get my butt back over there for some more!

While I was eating it she said that I had hearts in my eyes hahaha!

stoned at midnight, with homeslice closed and east side pies too far of a drive, two of my friends and i stumbled upon hoboken pie online.  holy.  shit.  20" pizzas are unheard of out here, and the toppings looked divine.

we called to order and ask if they would possibly deliver.  the guy on the phone said it was out of their delivery range, but it was a slow night and he'd do it.  when he came it was too good to be true -- true ny thin crust pizza (unlike shitty rounders) and just the right amount of cheese.  we tipped him like $10 too much, and it was totally worth it.  all 20" of the pie were gone after 15 minutes.

hoboken pies, thanks for bringing me a little slice of home.  hahaha that's funny and i'm not even high.

After reading all the wonderful reviews on my new favorite website, I decided to order this for me and my guy for lunch.    I was not impressed at all by this pizza.  All I kept thinking was, god I wish was drunk on 6th street, maybe it would taste better.  It was not the worst pizza I have had, but by no means was it the best.  It was just okay.  One plus, they did have ice cold mexican coke..YAY!

more like Hobo Ken Pie...

christ, this was horrible. I'll attribute the high ratings to late night drunk munchies, and not the quality of their pie.

next!

Great Pizza right there on Red River where all the good music is! Also, they serve nondairy pizza! Lactose intolerance was my major obstacle to grabbing a piece of pizza downtown, Hoboken Pie has now solved this with their Rice Cheese. I've tried a lot of "fake" cheese, and this is some of the best! The crust is super delicious. I was just in New Jersey, and this place has great new Jersey style thin pizza down pat. I need to try the Sicilian next!

Tried this last night in a post-cider stupor, and despite my state of mind, this was hands down the best downtown latenight pie you can get outside of the onion. Hoboken's closer to my usual haunts, and has a decent amount of seating, and clean bathrooms, so it gets a lot of good kudos from me. Definitely going back, may go pick up a pie tonight.

I have eaten at Hoboken Pie a few times so far.  I live in CA, and was staying at the Sheraton downtown.  The guy at the front desk highly recommended Hoboken Pie for great pizza.  I'm in NJ periodically, so I have eaten plenty of NJ style pizza.  The pizza at Hoboken Pie is sooooo much better than anything I have eaten in NJ.  Very thin, crispy crust,  not too much cheese, and the flavor of the sauce is perfect!!  I recommend the Hawaiian and Margherita pizzas too!!!  If you like thick crust, greasy pizza, go somewhere else.  I'll eat your share the next time I'm in Austin!
