I will say that this place doesn't seem to care much about the patients or the guests who show up here. We get it, people are freaking out about getting sick but all the staff would get fired if they enforced people to wear masks, and wear them properly.

It's the same as my job (minus the fact people steal from my work), but whatever we all have to pay our bills somehow. Every review you read is correct about that, I even saw someone carrying a dog in the ER.

My problem with pets is simple, people think they're their children and carry them around all the time. I have people put them in shopping carts at work, half the time I kick them out of the store, the other half I tell them to spray the cart when they're done using it as a vehicle for their pets.

It's stupid with their excuses, like how does a pet have PTSD? My grandfather had PTSD from the Korean War, we just left the television on and he was fine.

When asked about it, it's simple, none of their "children" would survive in the wild and since they didn't give birth to them they can't speak on it. Then I had someone tell me I hated animals, but the truth is I don't carry around my pets, because they're pets, my cat would eat it's own feces if I didn't feed it.

I didn't mean to drift off my review with a personal story, but pets shouldn't be allowed in any environment where people may have an allergic reaction, or in an environment where people don't need to tolerate it. Keep your pets at home, nobody has to break a hand patting your back because you have a stupid "who saved who" sticker on your Prius.

The ER room takes a long time, and I understand why that would make people want to leave, but the staff is much faster than you think. I spent about 3 hours here, and it was much faster than the ER room I went to in Santa Ana (some Western name) that took 8 hours, so I won't base my review on time.

This facility is huge compared to other places, the first time I was here it had a really small ER room. I still ended up on a bed outside the halls, but it felt alright, I thought they took time to make sure I was better and nobody was rude to me.

Most of the staff is exceptional, meaning they're good at their jobs. You have a few people in scrubs wandering around the halls, but I don't think they work here.

I do have an issue with the guests taking up space, there were a few guest who were huddled in a corner while the patient was in a wheelchair being examined when that space should have been reserved for patients. There was also a guy who was visiting a patient and opening doors they weren't allowed to, so the security needs to pay more attention to that.

Rules are posted for a reason, and this hospital does acknowledge it. You can clearly see all the posted rules at the entrance.

People who come in here and are sick need to be at home, no if ands or butts about it, if you're sick you don't belong around anyone. If you're sick enough to be in a hospital, you need to admit yourself in the actual hospital, this portion is for people who do boneheaded stuff.

For example; Getting shot, getting something in your eye, breaking a bone, having your stomach pumped, science experiment gone wrong, car wreck, drinking the liquid under the sink, asthma attacks, burns, cuts, head trauma, concussions, drinking too much alcohol, getting something literally stuck in your teeth and just about everything we enjoyed watching The Three Stooges.

When people show up who are sick, they often won't wear a mask because they don't concern themselves about other people. I'll be at work and some guy will have all the symptoms you hear from a NyQuil commercial, but he insists he's fine and wants to get closer to me and remind me how great he feels.

I'm not a doctor or any scientist, I'm not even a physician, but I wear a mask at work and don't touch my face. It seems to have worked so far, which is why I do encourage people to wash their hands and wear a mask, and it sucks wearing a mask but I haven't been sick in years.

The reason for my visit was I had a bruise on my chest (call it what you want) and the doctor examined me. He had to look, had to feel, do x-rays, and it turned out to be fine, it just hurt to breathe and tough to sleep.

No broken bones, no coughing up blood or anything severe. It was pretty cool, they prescribed me painkillers, probably nothing I couldn't handle but it helped me sleep which is why I left a positive review.

They got the job done, but I just wanted to acknowledge that it's not the hospital's (ER room's) fault that this place is being ruined by bad patients. I get upset when a teenager cries in agony, just to see the doctor.

They get bumped up ahead of everyone, and it turns out to be fake. It's also not fair for the people waiting.

My doctor sent a STAT order to Hoag for imaging at this location. There seemed to be no coordination here at all. First I was told to come back several days later because they would "have to order" the radioactive dose for my scan, then they changed their minds and said to wait. While the medical staff members were pleasant, careful, and competent, the front-line employees were brusque and dismissive.
Twenty-four hours later, I have called for results to bring to my doctor, and the woman who answered says I have to drive back to the facility (30 miles round trip) to pick up the report.
      DON'T USE THIS FACILITY.

The gross negligence of the CCU nurse(s) who allowed my husband to sustain a serious injury post surgery overshadows all the wonderful physicians and nurses who gave him excellent care (especially the 5th and 6th floor telemetry units). The exception being Dr. Tebyani / urologist - he's a corporate toady who shouldn't be practicing medicine. No one from CCU or the hospital bothered to inform me of my husbands injury. I finally found out about the incident TWO DAYS later - not from the urologist who was called in - his cardiologist told me!

CCU charge nurse by the name of Sri (with a very long East Indian surname) actually attempted to refuse to answer my husbands questions as to how the gross negligence occurred. Nurse Sri told my husband that his own medical information was 'privileged' !!! Thankfully his cardiologist was in the room and Nurse Sri was told to answer my husbands questions. We required a timeline of events that led up to the incident and we were completely within our rights to be told. Since when does a registered nurse choose performing legal damage control for her employer OVER patient care ??? Her licensing board will be horrified.

The urologist, Dr. Tebyani, assigned to my husband after he was injured spent the telehealth appointment after discharge performing legal damage control for Hoag ... lying to my husband about the severity of the injury ... trying to convince us it "happens all the time" and is "no big deal". Dr. Tebyani told us he's had patients who were "unable to urinate for 2 to 3 days" and it was "no problem". He even tried to convince us that the incident was the result of a medical condition not previously identified. Clearly this man is either violating his Hippocratic Oath for the company OR he's a complete moron. Either way, we fired him and found an actual urologist. One who doesn't LIE to cover gross negligence.

His hospital discharge was delayed for a day due to the injury. They tried to keep him TWO or more extra days but we insisted he be discharged. Continued exposure to hospital acquired infections like MRSA wasn't in his best interests. Not one person from Hoag upper management bothered to contact us regarding the incident. They will hear from us though. Oh, they certainly will.

My husband is now having home health nurse visits to care for him due to the injury he sustained in Hoag Irvine CCU. His injury has prevented him from resuming his normal activities and we have no idea yet of what permanent damage may have been done. THAT remains to be seen. We TRUSTED Hoag and now he has another medical issue he didn't come in with! DO NOT TRUST THIS HOSPITAL. WE DID AND REGRET IT.

It depends on what type of treatment you are receiving... if you can.. make sure you read all the reviews before coming to this hospital

Hoag Hospital has shown improvements, with nicer nurses and better doctors. However the ER still needs work.

Patient advocacy and education are emphasized. However, there are still issues with compassion and dignity, particularly for elderly patients. The billing department and some front desk staff have been rude. The nursing staff generally provide good care.

Discharge procedures were questionable. Overall, there is LOTS of room for improvement.

This review is strictly for Labor and Delivery.
I recently had my baby here and everything went smooth. There's security right when you enter and they tell you where to wait. We got to the hospital around midnight so it was quiet, but it took a long while for someone to check us in and another long while for the triage to get us inside.

Overall experience was fantastic. We got a suite that was huge. The nurses, assistants, and all staff were great. They communicated to each other greatly about my status when they had to switch shifts.
We were at the hospital for 3 days and the nurse that took care of me for most of my stay was Ya-Ya. She was awesome, funny and just made our stay easy. You're lucky if you get her!

The meals were good, not horrific but not the greatest. I didn't expect much but I was surprised what meals they provided.

It's a very clean facility and I loved the nurse assigned to me! The staff were all friendly and thorough as well as caring. My issue that brought this 5 star staff and hospital to a ONE STAR is the fact that upon arriving they requested almost $4000 payment and it shocked us that it was that high so my hubby and I asked if this amount covered everything including lab work and pathology and the lady at the desk said yes. 2 & 3 months later we get bill's from the anesthesiologist for almost $800, my doctor again for 100 and something we will call it 200, and then lab and pathology for a couple hundred as well. I called several people at all these different places got no answers kept calling leaving messages finally I get a call back from the supervisor in the hospital as well as billing and she said she'll look into it take care of it and for me not to pay anything else until she contacts me. Here we are in March almost, several months later,
and she still hasn't gotten back to me - she said within two weeks - still haven't heard from her to this day so I would never use any of these hospitals or doctors again. And the part that really sucks is that before even going to this ears nose and throat, Dr. Balaker I made sure that everybody was in our network, as well as asking all of them to doublecheck. I would not recommend Hoag due to being told information and follow thru on billing. I started getting threatening letters from the debt collection dept !!! Bad bad bad

Wow! I'm really amazed at these facilities. I was told this was a small labor and delivery room and it is... But man... It was incredible. Everyone (except the anesthesiologists) were kind and provided the best accommodations for the level of care I needed.

I was served tea on fine china every single afternoon and served amazing food for breakfast lunch and dinner. The room was huge (showers somewhat functional).

My most disappointing moments were when I was poked several times with the needle. They dug for multiple veins. It was torture (mainly because I was so dang swollen). The anesthesiologists were absolute mansplainers. After no one could find a vein, the nurse needed help and I had asked the anesthesiologist if he could help and he said it wasn't his job. It took the anesthesiologists forever to come in the room.

Even after all that garbage, I still have to admit that I had really the best experience overall and the nurses took the best care of my boy in the NICU. The doctor was also terrific in the NICU.

For the size of this hospital, the experience was exceptional.
