More commonly known as 9 Roses....
This place has excellent Vietnamese food. My friends and I used to make our way over to the Westbank just for this place at least 1-2 times a week. I don't go as often anymore, but it's still a favorite.
I recommend the lemongrass beef with vermicelli bowl, the spring rolls and lemonade. They make fresh squeezed lemonade that is out of this world.
I've never been disappointed here yet!
**They are closed on Wednesdays.....so make sure you go any other day besides that one. We made the mistake of going on a Wednesday once a couple years ago and had to go to Pho Tau Bay instead...The food there was mediocre in comparison..

This is one of my regular spots....

I like to go at least once a week for peace of mind. I usually get either  beef pho or chicken vermicelli which is large and in charge to say the least. The prior reviews do give justice to Nine Roses, but i thought i would say just a little more.

Nine Roses has wonderful lunch specials that come with iced tea, fried rice, and soup for $7.50. Service is suspect just as the waitresses english.

Restaurant gets very busy for any sort of family event like mothers day or Sundays after church.

Very solid and very consistent with an immense menu.

Oh Yeah!

This place was packed on a Tuesday evening before Christmas and from what I hear, it is always crowded.  Supposedly the food is awesome and I thought it was "good," but that is about as far as I will go.  I have to agree, that the place is filled with a lot of asians... so maybe that is a tell tale sign that it is tasty and authentic... but my taste buds didn't rave about the food.

The prices are reasonable and the service was great.  If you want a consistently good restaurant than I would say go here... but if you want "exceptional"... then keep looking.

Hoa Hong 9 or 9 Roses is the main restaurant that the local ethnic community goes to.  No doubt you will find this place half packed with Vietnamese folks and the other half, mostly Caucasian.

This place is ideal for family style Vietnamese cuisine.  For a family of 4, one must order about 3 dishes and a soup, drinks too all rounds out to about $60.

My family come out here and always order the hot and sour tamarind soup, with fresh vegetables and catfish -- very similar to TOM YUNG soup in Thai restaurants.  It's fresh and very tasty!

They also serve the typical Chinese food fare, but try the Vietnamese menu!  It's extensive and the spring rolls aren't too bad either.

Nine Roses is easily one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in New Orleans - which you can easily see as you walk in when the half of the place is filled with Vietnamese people and the other half white people. It's always a good sign if you see a lot of Vietnamese people eating at a Vietnamese restaurant - it means it's good, because we are real finicky people when it comes to eating out.

I used to come here frequently when I was little with my parents (the place has been open for a very, very long time) - and now when I went to school in Loyola I would go out once or twice a month to the Westbank to fulfill my Vietnamese food fix. I would always order the shark fin soup - then the banh hoi thit nuong - little noodle cakes served with charbroiled pork - my parents would order the fish dishes and the shrimp paste wrapped around a sugarcane. The place is family style for the most part - you have to order several dishes - however it is single person friendly and they do takeout. This place is always known for it's hotpots and soups - however they're mostly seafood based and I just never liked fish (to my parent's dismay as they kept on trying to jam down the catfish soup down my throat).

This place has always been consistent, the price is just right. Service is simply drop and go - you do have to waive down a server to get a table most of the time and if you need something - however this is pretty standard for most Vietnamese restaurants - service is just simply "if you need it, wave us down" - they really don't care if you tip(but you should anyways), just as long as you pay for the food.

The dining room - lots of red. Fancy chinese carved chairs and lots of painted murals on the walls - two fish tanks with very menacing silver eel-like fishes. However things look a little worn out and dusty. but this restaurant is not new. I've been eating here since I was in fifth grade I think - I'm about to graduate from college now.

The building is just off the 10 in gretna - however with the success this place has been getting the past few years I've always wished they moved to a better spot or opened up a second location uptown or downtown New Orleans (as they desperately need a decent Viet food joint) - it is located in a questionably shady section of town - sort of. New Orleans and it's surrounding areas are just the way it is.

This place was always rated high on everybody's list - and the answer is pretty easy. Great food, great prices, great variety, what more can you ask for?

Definitely one of my favorite places on the westbank.

The food is quality, and the prices are very reasonable. Most of the customers are Vietnamese.

My only complaint is that the service is kind of bad. If you need something, be ready to wait a while or make a scene trying to flag someone down.
