Perhaps I am somewhat jaded by my experience last week with the Marriott down the road, but this place was great.
It is even closer to my work site, but the best part about is that it is a full service Hilton (and acts like it) but was $30 cheaper than the Marriott down the street! I even got a coupon for a free breakfast because of my Hilton Honors status - good stuff.
I won't bore you with the details; it was a good room with all of the standard accommodations and details. Free WIFI, cool coffee maker, nice bedding, nice clean bathroom with all of the attendant fluids I'll bring home to the wife and kids. Only negative I noticed was that when I covered my head with the bed covers (what? is there something weird about that?), it kinda smelled like the smell that comes with dirty laundry (you know, like not gross but just like clothes that has been sitting around in a hamper).
Catholics in the crowd: there is a 6:30am Mass less than 2 miles away!

I stayed at the Gaithersburg Hilton for a couple of nights. When you enter the hotel - they have these signs up here and there stating that they want you to rate your stay with them as a "10." And if you come across anything that would not allow you to rate them as 10 - to please contact them ASAP so that they can address the situation.
I checked into my hotel room about 5:00 pm-ish on Sunday afternoon. My room was clean and nice. The bathroom was very clean as well. No mildew stains on the grout and caulking in the bathroom.
I settled in to use my MacBook Pro to get some work done - and I started to notice that every 15 minutes or so that the toilet would start making this annoying leaking/gurgling noise. So I called down to the front desk. They sent up an engineer right away. Within less than 10 minutes he had fixed the problem. Nice!
Everyone working in the hotel was very friendly and always smiling. Everyone would greet you as you passed. They felt genuinely friendly - NOT forced.
In retrospect - the three things I would ding the hotel for during my experience (and no - I did not call their attention to these items):
1. The pillows on the bed(s) have no substance - they flatten down to nothing. I needed to stack 3-4 of them on top of each other in order to achieve the level of comfort and support I was looking for.
2. The Ethernet cable in the room was to short. And the tab on the cable end was broken off - preventing the cable from securely snapping into place and staying there.
3. The TV was not a High Def flat panel. Lots of hotels have moved to replacing their old analog style CRTs with new, modern, digital, High Def, plat panel TVs.
I've rated the restaurant, the bar and lounge, and the corner cafe in separate reviews. All received good ratings.

As the First Reviewer mentioned this Hotel advertises at check-in that they expect every point of your stay to be a "10" and if it is not, to contact them. Well, I had nothing less than "10" service in all aspects and they really stood by this promise.
My first point of contact with the Hotel was being picked up by the free Hotel shuttle at the Rockville Metro station. He was congenial without being too familiar and not fake. What a great person to have in this position! The desk staff was superb.
I wandered over to Rooks Corner to see if I could get a late night snack off the all day menu and it was no problem. As my person went into the kitchen to check, I waited not more than 10 seconds when a manager walking by outside the restaurant made sure I was being served and helped. Excellent!!!
I was less than thrilled when booking my business trip to DC to have to stay out in the suburbs, but I would be grateful to stay at this Hilton again! A "10"!
Update 4/16- Had to take away One Star after my second visit. Even though I'm a Hilton Silver Member and booked a non-smoking room in advance, the only option upon my 7pm arrival was a smoking room. My suggestion- get rid of smoking rooms altogether! And no ironing board in the room in the morning, and no time to allow them to rectify, as meetings called. I ironed on the floor. :-)

I was not impressed with this hotel. Hilton is my prefered hotel chain, but I like the rockville Hilton much better. The carpet in my room looked dirty either by design or it was just dirty. When we checked in we were given a smelly room far from the pool which is what we did not want. The hotel seemed empty so why the nasty room. The pool and hot tub were great and a life guard was always there for the kids. The breakfast buffet was nice and was reasonably priced. the staff were nice and the maid service was excellent. The $5.00 water in the room was rude!
