We stayed here for a couple of nights, and paid a little bit more to have access to the "Empyrean Club". These rooms offer enhanced amenities, private key access, and separate check-in and checkout. Empyrean Club guests have access to a private lounge that features: continental breakfast, afternoon snacks and beverages, evening hors d'oeuvres, and a premium brand bar with cocktail service, a 60-inch plasma screen television, choice of The Wall Street Journal or other major newspapers, complimentary use of a laptop computer and 3-in-1 printer/fax/copier. SIGH. We really paid extra so that we could be kind of away from the tourists, and get free snacks! When we got there our room wasn't ready, so we walked around VA Beach looking for lunch. When we came back, it STILL wasn't ready, which sucked, because our 2.5 year old was really ready for his nap (as was I). We got a couple of cookies and hung out for maybe 15 minutes and were told our room was ready. The good: bed was comfy, large flat screen tv (plus another in the bathroom!), black-out curtains, nice bathroom. The bad: THIN walls (I could totally hear the neighbors yelling at each other, and this was WITH a sound conditioner that we brought), our view (parking deck), our location (we were right by a service closet, so we heard things rolling around quite a bit). It's a very pretty hotel, and has a couple of restaurants that were always packed. One other minus: we stopped at the concierge desk to ask directions to the aquarium, and we got a sales pitch for a condo. Frustrating. The dude was arguing with me, telling me we wouldn't have time to look at every fish at the aquarium! Not sure if we will ever go BACK to VA Beach again, and if we do, will we stay here? Hmmmm.

I didn't stay at the hotel...I attended a wedding here.  I though the appetizers rocked in comparison to the food, but overall, pretty good.  The whole scene in by the waterfront has this Panama City feel...lots of young people who apparently turn 21 all on the same weekend.  I spent half an hour watching kids that looked like they were no older than 13 bring up Busch beer up to their hotel rooms, not to mention old cougars getting their first tattoo.  Other than the lack of adult supervison of the hotel and the Spring Break feel of the place, it was ok.

The Hotel is ok.  I searched Va Beach for the best and supposedly this was it, which is not saying much about VA Beach.  Going there from DC the traffic was bad, comming back even worse as it took about 6hrs.

If you stay here, be warned, there is no SPA (even though they say so).  It is the gym where there is a private room for someone on call.  I would spend the extra money to get ocean rooms (not partial ocean) especially if you are comming from DC.  VA Beach is sooo blah that you really need to get ocean rooms to make it worthwhile.

The bar on the roof was fun.  Seemed that many were admitted locals which took away from the touristy feel and made it feel more gangster.  Same for the day spent at the roof.  It would have been nice for it to be calm with tourists, but there were locals somehow.  The music was also loud and not very pleasing.

Service at the hotel was very good though, about what you would expect.  The exception is the concierge who are agents that sell timeshare.  It is kinda disgusting for this to be the case, but true.  Good luck getting your towel and not being asked to fill out a financial affidavit.  They will give you a coupon to get a beach chair, which is $5 off the normal charge of $15 (so the beach people said).  You want these as the free ones are no so great.  Do not expect towel service or food service as the beach is dry and there are no servers.  Also, the area is public and people will sit by you on a towel to use the shades or something nearby for free.

There is  BP across the street (which is like a highway) where you can go get stuff to bring to beach or room.  Room service is pretty good.  Other than that, I would try to talk you out of going here because the beach is nothing special.  It is cool if you are 1 hr away, even 2 maybe, but from DC, I probably would not again.  Hence the reason for many being local!

If you do go though, this Hilton is not a bad choice compared to the other places.  It is a good location by some outdoor  venue and well... the hotel is fine, VA beach is just blah.

I stayed here recently on a business trip and I liked it for what it was.  It is right on the beach and from the bar on the top floor you have a great view of the ocean and surrounding area.

The rooms are very nice and comfortable.  I always seem to like Hilton beds and linens.  The only problem I had during my stay was that my iron wouldn't get hot enough.  So I called the front desk and within 10 mins I had a brand new iron.

Also, I tried the restaurant Ocean31 and it was good.  The service was good and the food was fresh.  I tried the local Rockfish and it was very nicely cooked and was topped with a very interesting salad that I wasn't a big fan of but overall it was a good meal.

I had my wedding reception here and the food was AMAZING!  The service was incredible!   We really couldn't have picked a better place for a wedding reception.  It was pricey though.  They really jack their costs up so beware.  There were alot of hidden costs we weren't expecting.  Now to why I am dissatisfied.  The decor of the lobby and what not is great.  However, their rooms are overpriced for what you get.  No fridge, no microwave, and no DVD player.  And not to mention, they don't have all oceanfront views like many of the rooms on VB oceanfront.  A fridge is necessary for leftovers and I suppose leftovers can be eaten cold so a microwave isn't always essential.  But no DVD player for rainy evenings?  Which happens ALOT in VB.  I will NEVER stay at a Hilton again.  Try out the Hampton Inn next door which has all oceanfront and most rooms have fridges, microwaves, and DVD players.

Meh, nothing special.  Stayed here on a long weekend w/ my honey, and they put us in a crap-tastic room...with a murphy bed(?).  I didn't think hotels, especially a Hilton, actually had rooms like that?  Anyways, I was not having it, so I sent my man-soldier to fight it out with the front desk while I got hammered at the rooftop bar.  About an hour later (no exaggeration) he came up and we had an oceanview room.

The room was VERY nice, had a small little patio where more drinking commenced.  Our room didn't have a microwave so that was kind of a bummer, but I ate cold leftovers a few days regardless.

One other odd thing is the rooftop pool turns into a nightclub at night, so my bf was kicked out since he wasn't wearing a shirt with a collar,  but was later readmitted with a change of clothes.  With the change to a nightclub, it also means the pool/hot tub closes early, at 9pm or so, so that was pretty disappointing to me.

Overall, nice facilities, but enough annoyances I can say this was one of my less favorite Hiltons.

So this review is for the hotel itself, not for Catch-31, so bear that in mind...

I stayed here recently for my cousin's wedding and was very, very pleased.  All of the usual stuff is there - a view of the beach, balconies, clean rooms, crisp sheets, whatever.  What puts it over to 4 stars for me is the people - and they way they do their jobs.

You see, I'm clumsy.  Always have been, and haven't gotten any better since I broke my leg... in fact, it's gotten worse.  And I had a moment of clumsiness at the Oceanfront that required stitches and a trip to the local ER.  It was no big deal, just one of those things that happen when you have impaired mobility and fall "wrong."

The staff was great throughout.  They came right up to my room and checked me out.  They arranged for the ambulance to come and made sure my wife was alright (she was a little freaked out by the blood).  They even sent a hotel shuttle to come and get me from the ER when everything was done.

So a big gold star for Oceanfront... excellent service under stressful conditions!
