Clean rooms, beautiful lobby and the staff was amazingly friendly.

Located just across from the Mormon centrifuge of worship and information, being here during the winter festivities made it that more pretty.

The rooms were clean and fresh linens, as well as complimentary bottled water every day after cleaning.

They did loose a star for claiming free parking and then billing us anyway - but mistakes happen, just make sure your staff is aware of all the fees incurred with valet!

I'd have to say I was kind pleasantly surprised by this hotel. While it ain't the fanciest in downtown SLC (judging from the outside, I mean) it was actually quite nice on the inside. The lobby is laid out shallow and wide, but nicely appointed.

I was also unaware about the banquet and meeting room facilities available here. They're not messing around. You can accommodate a small group or a massive party in their meeting facilities. I haven't dealt with the staff or services directly so I can't speak to that experience, but as an event attendee it was nice to see such a variety of possibilities in that space.

It's tough to beat the location. You've got a bevy of dining options at your disposal--pretty much any of the great downtown eateries are at a walking distance. A very short cab ride if you're picky, lazy, cold, or overheating. Bars are also at a stone's throw, and you're only a few blocks from Temple Square, The Gateway, TRAX, the building formerly known as the Delta Center, or many other of downtown's big draws.

Parking.. well, that's going to be a typical downtown parking situation. They do offer a zippy valet, or you can try your luck at one of the metered spots or pay lots around. There are lots of both.

Despite the negative press that The Hilton has received from their sleazy Paris location, these are still pretty nice hotels. The room was impeccably clean, the lobby was nice, it was quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable, everything went off pretty well without a hitch for my one night stay.

I was there for a training seminar, which was also held in the hotel. Their conference rooms were nice, and the staff was quite accommodating I think, especially since we were moving cars into and out of the second floor of the hotel.

If you are looking for a good hotel in Downtown SLC, I would not hesitate to recommend the Hilton.

This hotel is clean but the rooms are very dated looking.  I will no longer stay at this hotel due to their awful service.  I travel to SLC for work frequently and have long been a Hilton HHonors member, so this was my preferred hotel.  After arriving to the hotel around 12:30AM (not many convenient flights to SLC from where I live) for another stay here, I found my reservation had been cancelled over the phone by someone whose initials did not match mine.  They refused to give me another room at my previously booked rate and I was forced to find another hotel in the middle of the night with all my luggage and an early morning meeting the next day.  After years of Hilton loyalty, this hotel reignited my relationship with Marriott.

Pluses: great location to TRAX, eateries, shopping, beds comfy, front desk courteous
Minuses: false advertising. Web site claimed shuttle service from airport...there is none. Heavily advertised Starbucks---none on Saturday and their substitute is vile.
Very disappointed in their lackadaisical attitude about false advertising.

Maybe I have high standards for hotels.... Like I would actually enjoy sheets on my bed, fresh shampoo and conditioner, and a room that doesn't look like it was decorated in the 1980s.  The floor in the bathroom was dirty, and the whole room just looked dingy.  The lobby is beautiful, but the rest was super disappointing.

Great location (tons of food choices around from fast food to five star).

Good facilities - though the internet was painfully slow in the conference room.

Acceptable rooms (large, but in need of a makeover).

Good staff for banquet and bar, clueless staff at the front desk.

Review is only based on banquet facilities.

After several events there, I've decided that the group I'm with should go elsewhere. Food is barely decent, cold with neglectful banquet servers. Some tables got water, others were skipped.

Restrooms were a mess, no soap in any of the sinks, dirty floors, etc.

I think the Hilton could do better.

This is a perfect location if you're attending a trade show at the Salt Palace acros the street but this Hilton is average at best.

The lobby has been remodeled recently so it looks pretty good and the fitness area has also been updated with decent Precor equipment but it appears the upgrades stopped at the first two floors.  My room did have a flat screen TV but everything else in the room was very outdated.  It looked like early '90's style.  It was functional but after staying at newer or fully renovated Hiltons, the rooms here just don't measure up.  The bathroom was once again functional but the shower did have black stuff in the corners.  Not a scientist so I won't say it's mold but not sure what else it could be.  Also, when using the shower, I could hear water coming up through the sink.  Little weird.  Also WiFi is free to Hilton Gold and Diamond members but it's spotty at best.

The most bizarre thing was the housekeeping crew.  I always put my "do not disturb" sign out so I'm not awakened by housekeeping early in the morning.  I got up around 7:30 AM to go downstairs to grab a coffee. I left the do not disturb sign out so in case housekeeping did come by, I didn't come back to the room with housekeeping in there.  At 7:45 AM, I was walking back to my room when I saw housekeeping outside my door, slipping a piece of paper under it. She saw me and asked it I wanted my room serviced.  I said not right now but later.  She said "Oh" and walked away.  When I opened my door, the little piece of paper said since my do not disturb sign was out, they wouldn't be servicing my room. Really? I missed having my room serviced at 7:45 AM?  That seemed a bit early to cut me off.

Overall, not a bad Hilton but definitely not on the level of other Hilton's across the country.

I can only give this hotel a 2.5 or 3 stars.

Pros: Super speedy elevator, nice business center and fitness center, good location.

Cons: Horrible housekeeping! Floors not cleaned first day after I checked in. Second day, they did NOT clean my room or change the towels at all! I requested housekeeping and it took them an hour to clean the room. Geez. Customer service is just really bad, like a 2.5 star hotel..

Probably the worst hotel I stayed! No laundry service. The guest service told me accross the service there is 24 hr open laundry. I went upstairs, got my laundry and went downstairs, walked across the street. The laundry is open from 8 am to 10 pm. It was 11 pm, closed! Second thing, I asked for a wake up call at 8 am. I woke up at 7:30 am I left the room at 9 am and the phone didn't ring . Third thing: I went downstairs to lobby to use internet, because they charge extra for internet if you I use in the room. Guess what? They don't have internet! Front desk doesn't know there is a connection problem. I let them know. Positive things: good location, nice room, good housekeeping service. I'd never waste my money to stay there!

I'm actually surprised by the low rating for this hotel.  I am a Hilton Diamond VIP (I travel a LOT), and I have stayed at this hotel half a dozen times.  I think it's one of the better Hiltons in the U.S.
The front desk staff is always helpful and check in expedient.  I'm always given an upgraded room, which is updated, on a high floor and quiet.  The rooms are always very clean.  Parking is super easy in the garage under the hotel.  On this last stay I had breakfast downstairs, and they had a large selection of healthy choices and the service was STELLAR.  I came in looking like a mess (I had just gone for a 5 mile run), and the staff fell all over themselves making sure my drink was full and that I had everything I needed.
I like this hotel a lot and am a repeat guest.  The location is super central.  It's close to everything downtown, close to running trails, and easy to find.  In addition, I always receive a follow up email from hotel management to ask how things were.  You can tell that the GM takes the job seriously.  Highly recommended.

If I had paid full price for this hotel, I would've been extremely disappointed.   Alas, I bid for this room via http://Priceline.com, so it was a steal.
I was very impressed with the lighting-fast speed of the elevator.  Seriously, how do they do that?  Also, the location and view were fantastic.
The television and hair dryer were very dated.  Ladies, expect to spend twice as long as you'd think to get your hair dry here.  The decor of our room was also dated.  There wasn't a fan in the bathroom, so every time we showered, the smoke detector screamed at us.  This really upset me, and I meant to complain to the management, but I ran out of time.
The sheets and pillows were lovely and I managed to get a restful night of sleep here, unlike many hotels, and that's the whole point I guess.

Very disappointed that you have to pay for wireless (10 bucks.) What?? When all the hotels we'd stayed at before like the Holiday Inn express had it for free.
Sink and toilet made weird clinking noises after use.
Staff is super nice but weird thing happened - I left a cash tip on the table after breakfast so I marked zero on the bill  When I went to check out they told me a 5 buck tip had been added. Guess the server just helped himself. Naturally they removed it but creepy that someone would do that.
Every thing else was just very so so.

Never again will we stay at this Hilton.  We paid extra for having a dog with us, so they gave us a room that was pee stained. The dog was going crazy because of all the odors on the carpet.
Also, they charge you for parking, internet, and practically anything else they can get out of you.  No breakfast.
I recommend the Airport one, they actually provide a dog bed and bowl. Plus, they are really friendly.  This one not so much, but the valet was sweet.

Also, if you order the room service calamari, the remoulade is amazing!!!!!!   And the cheapest bottle of white is pretty decent, too!  If you're into those sorts of things.

Double also - only $87 through Hotwire!  Holla!

I got in here via http://Priceline.com too.  Good deal.  The hotel wasn't super new- like the decor was definitely dated, there was peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, and yes- no fan in the bathroom (like, what the heck?!  I know people are complaining about steam from the shower, but how about er--- stank from bodily functions, cough cough ahem...), expensive overnight parking ($13/night, blech)... but the lobby was beautiful and well appointed, staff was friendly, and the bed was super comfy with a really comfortable comforter as well.  The view wasn't half bad from the 11th floor either.

Oh- and no free wi-fi.  What a bummer.  We ended up paying the $10 to have the privilege for a day.  I think with a bathroom fan and free wi-fi, they would have gotten 4 stars from me.

I got this room through http://Priceline.com for about 40 bucks - a 4 star hotel at the cost of some motels in California. And I agree, it was truly a nice joint - comfortable beds, its own parking garage and all. If you opt to use the garage, it gets charged to your room but your room key gives you in and out privileges. Each room has an alarm clock that also has an apparatus to play the music from your MP3 player, so you can use it to play your iPod or what have you. My only complaints would be with the in-room internet service - they have your choice of wireless or wired, but neither one has a very reliable connection... also, I couldn't find the remote to my TV. Not that I actually watched it (I had my laptop and a bunch of DVD's... that and I didn't come all the way to SLC just to watch TV), but what if I wanted to?

The staff is also very helpful - they allowed me to check out at 2pm for no extra charge instead of the usual noon. For some reason, whenever I come here, I can never get up before noon. Is it because of the time change?!

When I used to travel to SLC weekly, I stayed here.  It was very modern, they treated me well, and it's right in the heart of the (few) cool things to do in Salt Lake.  So having to do some business in SLC a decade later, I was looking forward to checking it out.

Lots remain the same.  Still in the heart of everything that's cool in SLC...still treated well.  But....the rooms.....the rooms still look like 1999.  Seriously.  4:3 tv.  Check.  BAD brown carpet.  Check.  Archaic thermostat.  Check.  Luggage tray from 1960.  Check.  Bathroom decor from Lucille Ball.  Check.

Come on guys...most of the other Hilton's have done some SERIOUS upgrading.  Why not you?

'course, this might explain why I got such great rates on the room.

I've done the rockstar world tour thing.. and stayed in many a hotel..  and the Hilton in SLC, is a comfy joint...  okay, I mean a room is a room is a room.

room service... check.... I got my breakfast in 20 minutes and it was cool..  how can you mess up eggs?

the little two cup coffee matic..  made a decent cup of coffee..  and you get real cream..  what a lucky draw.. none of that white dust creamer stuff..

I dig the little silver house phones in the hallway..  with a retro vintage look.... circa 1940's

the elevators were fast.. you get a choice of four..  so you're likely to get your ass going up or down pretty quickly..  and they zip along..

I mean who wants to sit there waiting on a slow elevator?

the room was comfy... I killed the heat though, it was kinda a sweat box.. but thats a matter of personal preferences...

I gaze at some canyon landscape paintings on the wall..  yunno. the kind you see in gift shops in the departure lounge.. along with hoodies and t shirts and "dream catchers"..

I'm not complaning..  the remote worked... t.v got all the stations including espn, hbo, and tnt... cnn.... yunno. the gamet..  history channel too...

macbook hooked up to the internet wi fi pretty easy...  ticks me off they don't offer free internet though...  but I guess everyone is trying to squeeze a buck outta you

open the blinds... the view of the valley was half descent...

check in was a breeze.. you gotta know that there is a lot of grinning going on in SLC... from the moment you arrive...

I'm a NY'er so I've got my opinions on all the grinning and howdy do's... but I sorta play along with it.. and it works..

I just don't go into details on my life story when I'm asked what I'm doing and where I am from..

I get it a lot on account of my locs... seems there aren't many in these parts. especially at hilton's in SLC..

    all good

one thing you gotta know.. is the steak house attached to this hotel is also a private members only drinking establishment.

good news for those who want a hard liquor after coming in from a long day..  doing..  that thing you do while in SLC...

    hehehe...

And if your into the mall scene...   the gateway plaza is a stone's throw away.. wind up real good and you'll hit something by gateway..

three long ass west coast blocks walk and you're there..  but if you good and lazy and have a rental..  mozy on down..

there is a cinema and a theatre close by...

the folks at the concierge will give you a little map, and you pretty much see what's the deal in town..   run off and have a blast..   just be careful and don't jay walk..  you could be in a heap of trouble...  LOL

    just kidding.

This place stinks...as soon as I walked into the room I thought the elevator transported me and my BF off at a motel 6.  Maybe because I was in Salt Lake City  deocr to them isn't a big deal but with a name like Hilton, I wanted to walk into a room with 8 different size pillows on the bed and a flat screen tv.
My expectations were definitely high, but come one, HILTON! Who wouldn't have high expectations.
The lobby is nice...staff ehh..whatever...not a big WOW.  The location is great if visiting the Mormon Temple or walking around downtown.  Overall if they up'd the ante I'd reconsider staying here again due to the location.. Oh and Spencers was located right in the lobby so no complaints on that end.

Not a bad hotel but I have definitely been in nicer hotels.

The room needed to be updated with new rugs, paint on the walls and ceilings.  Some of the lights didn't work but I was only there for a night and didn't bother to have them fixed.

Oh yeah and the toilet from hell that wouldn't stop running.  Now I have fixed a few toilets in my day but this one was very difficult to fix.  So the running toilet stayed with me through the night.

Overall, a so-so hotel.  The staff was not as friendly as I thought I would find in SLC.

Nothing extremely special but at the same time no really bad experiences either.  The concierge was helpful and the pool and hot tub facilities were clean and open until midnight -- which is a huge plus over those other locations that close their hot tubs at 9PM or 10PM.  I mean, really....  The only downside was the ridiculously underwhelming, yet expensive breakfast that they serve.  Big waste of money.  Save your money and buy some yogurt.

This was one of the most depressing hotel rooms I've ever experienced.  The ceiling in our room was so low we could reach up and touch it.  It was dark and dank, with terrible wallpaper trip along the ceiling that felt like it made the room even smaller and darker.

We were staying for four nights, but they wouldn't move us to a room with two queen beds without charging us extra (we hadn't realized we had only booked the full-size beds).  I have never had this problem booking hotel rooms, but apparently, queen beds costs $30 more.  Who fills hotel rooms  with full-sized beds anyway?

But really, my sister left a skirt hanging on the back of the bathroom door.  She spent a good twenty minutes with them the next day, and then went by to see if they had found it.  At first they said they had, but then a new person started her shift and she said that she couldn't find it.  So they lost my sister's skirt, which is ridiculous.  Plus, they were completely impatient and not helpful with her.

Ridiculous hotel.  We were looking for a local hotel for housing out-of-town guests, and this most certainly will not be used again.

Salt Lake has some "interesting" parts of town.  Hilton is in a good part.  The room was very nice and entrance to the building was very clean.  Ordered a sandwhich with room service and it was up in 30 minutes flat.  Very tasty.  The price is about 20% more than other 5 star hotels in SLC, but I think this place is the best of all of them.  Overall, a good value.
