If you have business at the Capital, this isn't a terrible place to be. The bed I'm laying in is comfy, the linens are pretty nice for a mid-range hotel, and the pillows are big and fluffy. Why I have to pay $12 a day for internet, I'll never understand. Minus one star. I mean...this is, after all, a place mostly frequented by business folk, lobbyists from out of town, and conference-goers. Who all need one thing: internet access.
I prefer to stay closer to the capital (walking is better than bussing over en masse) but there's plenty of free parking at this location, so consider that a plus. The room decor is nothing special but I am kind of considering stealing the shower head in the bathroom. And the painting on the wall in there. No kidding.
Room service doesn't suck in the service department but my banana split, pizza, and brownie sundae (yes, I am an alone-in-my-room eater) were nothing special. Though they were very considerate when I fell asleep after ordering and then woke up demanding my food. Ooops...
The food couldn't have been that bad as I'm now wishing they delivered after 11 since I am still up working...
All in all, a decent place to stay if you happen to be here on business. The bar and restaurant are just fine for business trip eats and drinks too but I highly recommend heading out for dinner.

nice room and friendly checkin . we liked the room service and will stay again
Let me preface this review by stating that this is a review of the conference facilities, not the hotel or the rooms.
My sister and I attended a conference here on Friday. The morning began with a selection of hot coffee or tea and muffins, croissants or scones. I selected a blueberry scone and was pleased to find that they were not at all dry. They had to be the best scones I've ever had hands down. The scones were light and fluffy and filled with the perfect amount of blueberries. Yum.
Lunch was a deli bar filled with salads, deli meat and cheeses and a selection of breads to make your own sandwich. There was so much food that I was stuffed!
At the afternoon break they brought a selection of chocolate covered strawberries, cannoli, mini cheesecakes and mini key lime pies. They looked delicious but unfortunately I could not sample them (lent). ;(
The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room was never too warm or too cold which often happens during conference events. The chairs were nicely padded too which is very important when you have to sit and attend for 6 hours.
I hope I have the opportunity to attend another conference at this location. Maybe next time I'll be able to sample the yummy looking desserts! ;)

I've been attending conferences here for years and I've noticed improvements almost every time I visit. During my most recent stay, we had the opportunity to meet in their new ballroom next to the Harvard Street Grille. You really can't go wrong with their banquet food...pastries, salads, sandwiches, pastas, burritos, and a myriad of desserts. However, the scrambled eggs during breakfast were a little too soggy and the French toast a little too rubbery.
Accommodations weren't bad. Their rooms are usually clean, the beds are comfy, and staff is attentive. The small pool and gym compliment the size of this hotel. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Not too far from downtown, Cal Expo, and Arden Fair Mall. They also offer a shuttle service to and from the mall.

I have been attending work conferences here for the past six years. They have a simple and straightforward reservation process and you can now make reservations directly on-line. This is nice because sometimes I just want to get things crossed off my to do list and not have to deal with another human being.
There is ample, free parking available and the check in process is usually very quick. The rooms are decent, nothing too fancy. The bathrooms are tiny but have everything one would need to take care of their personal bathroom needs.
Every time I stay here the vending machine on the floor I am on is out of order. (Water bottles are a dollar cheaper if you walk down the hall.) I usually just take the elevator up or down a floor. Don't forget your room key because you will need it to get into the vending and ice machines room. It makes me wonder if they used to have a major issue with non-guests taking ice and buying overpriced sodas and water. The room service prices are ridiculous, especially considering that the prices don't include "applicable taxes" and a 20% service change. I suggest taking the short drive down Arden Way to the mall and a wide selection of reasonable priced restaurants.

Hilton is nothing but a played-out brand. I'm not sure if I've ever paid my own money to stay in one...and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it willingly. Honestly, if this were a $50/night hotel I would've given it 4 stars...but the cost/value is just so high I can't see doing it.
Our room cost about $150 dollars per night and it was only marginally better than a motel 6 room (basically the TV was nice and I lived through sleeping on the bed)...but we didn't have a microwave.
Room service was TERRIBLE! I called, it rang 15 times, I gave up and hung up the phone. I called again, after about 9 rings somebody picked up. All I wanted was one bottle of wine to go with dinner. Now...I'm not one of these "if Enlish was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for America" types...but it'd be nice if the person answering the phone could understand it. So...after an hour and a half of waiting for my order, I called to cancel it. I was told that the lady bringing it was on my floor and they couldn't get hold of her (WHAT?!)...so I said ok. After another half hour she was finally there. Then, I gave her my money (cash...which I told them I was paying with when they called).
"Do you need change?"
"Yes."
"Oh, well, I don't have any. I'd have to go downstairs and come back up..."
"Nevermind" *slam*
WTF?! They also charged $10/day for the Internet which I thought was pretty normal...but my father who stays in hotels much more frequently than me says he hasn't been charged for the Internet in 2 years.
The 1 * that they do deserve is for the cute and friendly bell boys, the decent check-in service, the maid who gave me 4 extra coffee packets and carted away the decaff with a smile, and the super-sweet waitress at the restaurant who was so friendly to my toddler niece and nephew (they got free breakfast btw).
Honestly, aside from the room service the employees that I dealt with were all really great. So...how do you have customers who are so dissatisfied when you have so many great employees?! Must be bad management...and it can't be hiring. Plus, seriously, do you think you guys are charging a fair price for that room? Really?
Honestly, I'll take a Marriott any day of the week over a Hilton. Hell...I'll take a Ramada Inn.

Another less than stellar Hilton.
Last month was the third time I had been at this location for a work conference, but the first time I've ever stayed here, usually opting for the Doubletree down the street.
Being that It's become somewhat acceptable to bring your laptop in the conference rooms and multi-task while continuing to seem somewhat involved in the conference, I arrived armed with my laptop reading to stay on top of work email. I soon found that even though this is 2008 and that even though this is a national hotel chain, there is no wi-fi service in the conference rooms (lame).
The rooms are clean and updated including a nice flat screen, but the bathroom has to be the smallest I've even seen in a hotel. Seriously.
They will print out your boarding passes at the front desk and they allow you to double-dip on airline miles and Hilton HHonors which is cool.

I paid a little over $100 a night for the weekend. I really liked this place and felt it was worth it. Clean bathroom with good water pressure from the shower. Room service was fast and they put a nice TV in the room as well. There was also a good sized desk with chair availble to use to set up a lap top.
I wish there was a fridge in the room, but other than that.. I'd stay here again!
I normally stay at the Garden Inn when I am in Sacramento. This time, due to changes in our travel planning app I had problems getting in there. Happily, I got into this hotel and had a great stay.
Nice rooms, generally friendly staff, etc.
Probably the best part was the really nice "Concierge" Lounge bartender who never failed to make everyone feel comfortable.
The location is also pretty good - you are close to a lot of fun things to do, good places to eat, etc.

Overall, it is your standard Hilton hotel. Nothing special. The rooms on the 11th and 12th floor are nice, great views and you can go to a free happy hour. The front desk often can upgrade you for $20.
I also like the fact that the rooms have floor to ceiling windows.
The one problem is that the location kind of stinks, its not the safest spot and the mall and everything is on the other side of the freeway.

Came to stay here for the weekend to get out of the city. This hotel is very convenient to the freeway, mall, and Cal Expo with free shuttle to the State Fair every 2 hrs. I came and stayed here with the romance package. Upon arrival they ask when I would like to have the sparkling wine, chocolates, strawberries brought up to the room. I suggested 15 min and it arrived around 25 min. The strawberries were sweet and ripe. You also get $48.00 voucher to use for dinner and $48.00 voucher for breakfast. Its a good deal if you ask me. Our breakfast was free, the bill came to $46.00. We had the french toast (nothing special), Omelet with the works ( couldn't taste the chorizo) and a fruit plate (very sad looking one). You can tell the fruit plates where mad a day before. The strawberries bled into the pineapple which take hours in order for that to happen. The cantaloupe was poorly cut and looked more like scraps.
Over all the weekend stay at the Hilton was relaxing and enjoyable. I would skip eating here and venture out for food.

I'm giving it 4 stars because we only paid $65+tax ($79 total) a night on Hotwire for a room. A convenient, full service hotel for under $80 is better than a shabby Motel off the freeway for about the same price.
They have a pool, jacuzzi, bar, restaurant, concierge, and free parking. We were able to get free wifi internet access.
Location is close to the mall, freeways and the Cal Expo.
my parents, bf, and i attended a wedding reception at this hilton location last year during the labor day weekend. the hotel is located close to the freeway and isn't difficult to find or get to. the ballroom area was large enough to fit a good sized dance floor for everyone to get our groove on, dj area, a cake table, and 10 persons at each of the approximate 30 guest tables (not including the wedding entourages' tables) comfortably without your personal space being invaded while you're eating.
my bf and i stayed the night since we knew that we'd be consuming a good amount of alcohol. the rooms were standard and clean. it had working a/c - which we really appreciated because it was much needed for the 100+ degree day; a comfortable king size bed with plenty of comfy pillows; ceiling to floor windows - which was nice because we had a great view to watch the fireworks show from the state fair across the freeway.
they have a pool, jacuzzi, and really small weight room. i didn't get to jump into the pool or sit in the jacuzzi, but i sipped my drink poolside which was relaxing enough.
we ordered food from the harvard street restaurant which is adjoined to the hotel. we didn't get to eat at the restaurant, but we did order an entree from here at the bar located in the hotel to have with our drinks. we had the ribs that came with the white corns on the cobs and french fries. pricey but yummy.
