I've only taken one opportunity to stay @ the President...:) It was PRE- P&L and "sigh." But, in an awkward hour in the middle of the early morning there was a fire "drill" and we all had to make our way out into the street in jammies for about 15 minutes. LOL Funny now.
I need to stay again some night soon and hang out till P&L closes (for a change) ...just for fun. More memories?

The Hilton President Kansas City is in a great location if you are staying for business or pleasure. It's in the heart of the Power and Light District and down the street from the Convention Center. Theatre shows and the financial district are nearby as well. If you wanted, you could walk to all of these places. The area is safe and as loud as people may think the P&L can get, it's relatively quiet considering I was coming from NYC.
This Hilton is extremely accomodating for its guests. It's one of the higher standard Hiltons so expect a much greater experience. Valet parking is available but I recommend self parking instead. It's cheaper ($16) and the parking lot is literally next door. The rooms are huge and the shampoos and lotions that are complimentary are Crabtree & Evelyn. The shower is pretty nice with a glass door instead of a cheap plastic shower curtain. My only recommendation for the room would be to upgrade the television set.
The breakfast offered has everything from omellette stations to yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, and cereal. If that's not enough, there is a small Starbucks located in the lobby but the offerings are limited.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and thought it was a great choice. One night we barhopped in the P&L. It was nice not to have to drive anywhere. Stay at the Hilton President for quality and convenience. It's also a beautifully restored building.

I was upset at the Hilton in Kansas City for a few reasons.
They tried to double charge us for the Valet Parking. My dad and I have the same last name and we were in separate rooms and we got 2 separate bills sent to our rooms for the same car. OK, I guess the name is part of the mix up.
Next we get our car and it came back dirty. Dirty you say? When we gave it back to them it was pretty spotless and when we got the car back it looked like someone ate a croissant or a piece of cake on top of the driver's side door. Smudged it all up! There was a wedding going on, so who knows what, who attacked the car. Another guy said there was a fire drill in the middle of the night. Possibly the cause of a rowdy wedding party...
Another thing that killed me was the hot water was not hot enough. I tried to take two baths in my room (my dad and stepmom did not have a bath) and both times the water was luke warm...and the water pressure was terrible it took me like 20-30 min to draw my luke warm bath. It was cold outside, I wanted a hot bath, BURR!
The building itself was a classic old building in the downtown district, so for that they get a star. Location, Location, Location! It's the best hotel for a convention for sure. However my dad said he would rather stay in the country club district next time to avoid dealing with the weddings and conventions. I mean, why force yourself to wait 30 minutes for your coffee at Starbucks with convention goers?
If you're in KC for pleasure and not for business, do yourself a favor and go some place else.
This is a great hotel in the middle of P&L...we've stayed here a couple times and it's always been good. The price is decent, for a 2 doubles it's like a 100 bucks. If you're drunk at 2am, I would not suggest getting a room there b/c a king will cost you 254 bucks. Found that out the other weekend, but it was still worth it. The beds are so comfortable. The Drum Room downstairs leaves something to be desired but it's decent. I'll definitely be coming back to this hotel as long as it's not in the early morning and I'm looking for a place to crash last minute.

Unfortunately this explains why Paris will never have to work a day in her life--they sure do run a great hotel.
The Hilton served as the setting and overnight stay for my friends wedding. The interior is beautiful and is by far the most beautiful ball room you will find anywhere in Kansas City.
The service was impeccable from the courteous desk staff to the waiters at the Drum Room.
The Hilton has exquisitely updated their hotel to give guests modern amenities but the 40s charm of the amazing historic building has been maintained.
It is right in the heart of the new P&L district.

Ahhh, another favorite on my Hiltonquest. What can I say? I'm a point whore.
This is yet another historic property that Hilton restored. Side note - one of the reasons I love Hilton so much is that they have so many historic properties. They could buy these buildings and tear them down, but they don't - they fix 'em up and revitalize them. Props to Hilton!
Anywhoo...this one is a doozy of a restoration job. This place was abandoned and full of bats - you should see the before photos! Beautiful lobby, attractive restaurant and bar off to the side both done in historical fashion, but I'm not in love with the gift/coffee shop - seems like they kinda gave up when the got to it. Small thing, but it really sticks out like a sore thumb in an otherwise beautiful lobby. Honors reception is only held once a week on the mezzanine level, but it is quite nice.
The rooms are recently rehabbed and quite lovely with flat screen tvs & marble bathrooms. Comfy robes in every room, plenty of lighting, awesome beds & bedding. I really like these rooms, I do.
Room service is quite good, I always look forward to a stay here. I wish they would change the menu up a bit, but I stay here all the time, so I guess I'm just bored with it. They are, by the way, always happy to accomodate special orders. Note to late night diners - call ahead of time as it can be hard to get through to room service later in the evening. Pretty good breakfast buffet and the bartenders in the lobby bar are congenial.
Overall, I LOVE the staff at this place. They take amazing care of me - I had a rotten day recently and my uber-favorite day manager sent me a bottle of wine! Wow - service, service, service!!! I'd also like to note that this hotel has my absolute favorite doormen at any Hilton anywhere - these guys are the best. Every now and then you run into someone at the front desk who is not so fantastic, but the rest of the crew more than makes up for that. It can be hard to reach the front desk late at night which can be a bit frustrating. There are a lot of smaller company meetings here and I think the influx of late night drunks keeps them busy - maybe they should add additional help at night to help out.
Overall, a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and a welcoming staff - stay here once, you will always come back!

I love the consistency of the Hilton Chain. My room was very clean and comfortable. The elevators are gorgeous, of all random things!
It was a little noisy though. Train whistles and a lot of street noise....to be expected in a "downtown" setting.
