This is a beautiful place, but on the expensive side. The hotel was built in the 80's, so the exterior is a bit dated. However, they appear to keep up with room renovation. Our room was large, clean, nicely decorated, and appointed with a very comfy bed, a couch, coffee table, desk, a small dining table, microwave, small fridge, sink, granite counter-top, and dishes. The bathroom was nice, with a second vanity outside the bathroom. The amenities (shampoo, lotion, etc.) provided in the bathroom were not as nice as other places I've stayed, but they were fine. The room was very quiet; we could not hear people/plumbing in adjoining rooms and we couldn't hear the AC.

Minor complaints about the room: the water smelled a little sulfurous, small TV. A more major complaint: WiFi not free. With all you're paying, it really should be...

I should say that our cost with parking fees and taxes came to about $190/night, and we had a group discount.

Housekeeping was awesome! They straightened up our things every day, as well as keeping us well-stocked with towels, etc.

The concierge service was very good. They recommended restaurants to us (good ones!) and helped us find places to hike.

The resort boasts an adult as well as a family pool and 2 hot tubs. Lots of places to lounge and sunbathe. Beautiful grounds with gorgeous trees and plants, and a lagoon with fish and lots of turtles! Short walk out to Hilton Head's incredible beach. You can rent a bike for the day from the hotel for about $6.50. Hilton Head has a myriad of bike paths to take advantage of, as well as the added bonus of being able to bike on right on the beach.

As said before by other reviewers, this is a pet friendly hotel.

I fell in love with Hilton Head Island at this report. It's pretty expensive but you could argue it's worth it, with nice rooms, multiple pools and very close beach access. Hilton made me feel valued here and I enjoyed this place to the max. But make sure you realize that it's expensive here. They charge you for every little thing and everything is expensive. But it was nice being able to rent a bicycle right in the resort to ride on the beach on on the many miles of trails throughout. Don't rent the chair and umbrella for the beach because you have to drag it out there yourself. Instead, rent the ones offered by the lifeguards. Those are already setup.

Two pools give you the option of hanging out with families or just adults. In July, the adult pool was warm and inviting and I could hear the ocean as I stared up at the moon. I'm almost positive it's a salt-water pool (no chlorine smell, extra tiny bubbles).

The beach here is very nice. The waves aren't very high and tidal pools are fun, making this a great beach for kids especially. The sand near the water is hard-packed so you can ride a bicycle on it easily.

Nearby the hotel are stores I didn't expect at the beach. This isn't like Myrtle Beach at all. Think much higher quality, quieter and more laid back.

The room? It was a very nice efficiency with microwave and refrigerator and a private balcony. But we didn't spend much time there.

Pack in as much as you can while you're there and ask for complimentary late checkout on your final day to get one more morning at the beach in.

Ultimately we chose this hotel because of its pet friendly policy. We were never hastled by anyone about having a dog with us and saw many other pet owners at the resort.

Just spent a week and had an enjoyable stay. The outside of the hotel looked pretty rough, but the rooms were clean and well maintained. The beds and pillows were super comfortable. We stayed at one of the full oceanview suites. The view was mostly obscured by a tree, but it wasn't a big deal. The balconies were huge and had two standard chairs and two lounge chairs. There were three glass sliding doors to the balcony, so you could really open the suite and and get a good breeze going in the room.  The AC wasn't the best because it ran 24/7 and just managed to keep the room cool. If you like you room to be an icebox, it won't happen.   The room had old school CRT TVs, which will be hard to watch if you are used to big widescreen TVs at home.

Ah Yes! The Hilton Ocean Front Resort, is just that a resort. Built over a large lagoon with bridges connecting the different buildings, the Hilton, truly makes you feel as if you are vacationing in the Caribbean, instead of just Hilton head Island. With open breezeways, and stair that lead directly outside, there is a very flowing feel to the entire compound. A very friendly staff...all of whom seemed to be Jamaican, a fact which added to the island vibe....and excellent amenities make this one of my favorite hotels ever, and definitely the best in the Carolinas.
Our room, 313, was a huge suite complete with sitting area, dinette, featuring a sink, dishes, silverware a microwave and refrigerator. A huge bed and big screen TV.

We rented bikes on location, (thanks Marlon!) and rode around all of Palmetto Dunes, using the extensive network of bike paths. They also had a cool Outdoor Outfitter store just before entering the Resort, where you could rent kayaks and paddle through all of the lagoons in the area, pretty cool.

Though the weather was stormy, we made the best of our stay, using the bikes, the exercise center and taking full advantage of our huge suite and big balcony, even though it had one heck of a view of the parking lot.

My only gripe was with the Internet. There was free Ethernet access, but it was very slow, DSL style. And I was not used to being tethered to a desk to access the Internet.

Other than that The Hilton Ocean Front Resort was spectacular. I highly recommend it to any one planning on visiting Hilton Head. They just got everything write, from the little things on up.
