Review from Kelly K.
Phoenix, AZ
I stayed at the Hilton Airport hotel for two nights on a business trip. It was adequate - nothing more, nothing less. As the name would indicate, the property was close to the airport (around a 5-10 minute drive to the terminals). Rooms were basic - a little worn, but what you would generally expect from a mid-level Hilton. The room cost was reasonable, but the restaurant was pretty pricey (example: $22 for the breakfast buffet). For a business traveler on a strict food per diem, the restaurant will not fit your needs - avoid it if you can. Parking is $15/day, but you have in and out privileges, which adds value.
Overall, the Hilton Miami Airport is fine for a short stay when you have an early morning flight or meetings at or near the airport. For anything else, I'd probably consider other Miami properties. -

I am usually a big fan of Hilton Hotels, but once in a while you find one that just disappoints.
It could have been the constant loud noise of the escalator as we ate breakfast in the dinning room.
It could have been the fact that 2 different bartenders made the same drink three different ways.
It could have been the fact that the gift shop was closed at 9PM instead of it's stated time at 10PM prompting a taxi ride to a CVS pharmacy at 9:15.
It could have been that there is a football game on that started late afternoon and yet the pool bar gets closed down with 12 people still sitting around it at 5 PM.
It may have just been a bad night on our part, but because of that, we will not be back. -

Even though the hotel is across the interstate from the airport; you'll never forget the airport is there. You can hear planes taking off from every corner of the building.
My favorite was the placard exhorting guests to "save the planet" by reusing linens; however the A/C in every room was set at 62.
It's a pretty old school place and reminded me of a lot of hotels in the 80's that no longer exist. Paying for Wi-Fi? Really? -

My hotel room was clean in general. But, I can't believe I needed to pay for WiFi. This is 2011. Even the local laundromat has free WiFi for customers. I stayed at other Hilton locations before. They usually have free WIFI. If you go to their business center to get online, you also need to pay. Because of that, I take out one star.
One night we ordered room service from the hotel. We had shrimp pasta, Chinese salad, roast salmon, snapper, beef tenderloin. Shrimp pasta was too greasy. Beef tenderloin was as stiff as my bathroom sponge even we ordered medium. Roast salmon and Snapper were quite good. Breakfast has a wide selection. Fruits are fresh enough.
We booked 3 rooms x 3 nights x $220 a night and spent about $2000 including of tax here. This is my experience. When we spent more than $1000 at other Hilton locations, they usually waive parking. I asked the manager if he could waive parking especially we only had one car for the whole group. His reply is "You always pay for parking here." Breakfast was included in our room rate. When we booked online, we didn't specify how many guests in each room. Because of that, the front desk only gave us one breakfast voucher per room. We had two guests in one of the room reservations. The clerk refused to issue another breakfast voucher and asked us to pay an extra. What the heck! They don't use common sense to serve their customers. I take out another star for customer service.
The mini fridge was tied up by a plastic thing. Gosh! Was I in a third world country motel? I didn't even touch or come closer to it. I don't want the clerk told me you need to pay for opening the mini fridge in your room.
I mailed out a brunch of postcards from the hotel front desk. I have been back for almost three weeks. None of my friends received my post cards from Miami. It makes me wonder how they handle guest mails. -

I love this hotel, as soon as I arrived they had everything ready. There was no blowdryer in my room, I called for one and 2 minutes later it was there.
Downside is I had to pay for parking and internet but I ended up going to a local starbucks and saved myself $12.00 per day on wi fi which is too much for me since I wasn't there the whole day.
The TVs are awesome, I had foodnetwork HD which I don't have at home so I was in heaven. Private lagoon, great spa and pool. No need for anything else. I would definitely stay there again. -

Let's start by admitting I'm a Hilton diamond member and a pilot who's stayed at a lot of Hilton hotels and a lot of hotels in general. I've stayed at this hotel probably somewhere between 30 to 40 times. Relative to other Hiltons I can say that this one is solidly average.
Pros: Location, (if you're looking for an airport hotel). It's tucked back in a lagoon so relatively quiet if you're room is on the opposite side of the runways. Facilities, nice pool, gym, outside bar. Staff is generally very helpful. Rooms, most are current and have been upgraded in recent years, the bed is comfortable. The breakfast buffet is pretty good.
Cons: Location if your room is on the runway side. The check-in can be slow as the front desk is most always understaffed. Dinner in the restaurant can be horrible. It's easy to pay $32 for a steak that is cooked to taste like a shoe. I've never had a steak cooked right and sometimes what is served is not as described on the menu (you might get a potato souffle rather than the au gratin on the menu) My advise is to never order anything more sophisticated than a hamburger. The little coffee bar is more expensive than I've found in Zurich Switzerland, $7 for a mocha and it's awful. Which leads me to my last point. The hotel will nickel and dime you. They haven't figured out they have a lot of competition with a lot of empty rooms in the area. -

My company is a client of the Hilton's, so we frequently get invited to drop by for lunch and we solicit their help very often in regards to hotel stays and conferences. Their staff is truly wonderful :)
The cafe located in the hotel lobby is amazing and the food is delicious. The wait staff is friendly and prompt. Friends of mine say that their bread pudding is the best they've ever had. Their hotel rooms and conference rooms are spick and span and they offer everything that a company might need in regards to facilities. As a special plus, they are located in Blue Lagoon and have a lovely view of both the airport and the lagoon. Great place to visit if you've never been and/or need somewhere to stay. -

I arrived at noon, hoping to get some work done in my room, and they were able to go ahead and put me in a room. The front desk staff was very courteous about it and I received a nice packet with vouchers for free water, free continental breakfast, and free wi-fi (assuming it was because I'm 'Gold' level).
The room was pretty standard, but clean and comfy with a functional workspace. Nice flat screen TV and pretty good view, with the nearby lagoon and downtown Miami in the distance. The bathroom could have used a refresh--again, functional, but starting to show its age. Only real complaint would be noise: obviously airplanes (somewhat expected at an airport hotel), but also you could occasionally hear doors slamming and some voices from the adjacent room. Oh, and self-parking was $15 which is kind of annoying that far away from the center of town.
However, the thing that I was really impressed with here was the service. Every single staff interaction I had was wonderful, especially the guy who took my room service order and made sure I got exactly what I wanted even though it wasn't technically on the menu. At breakfast as well, despite being a buffet, they walked around and checked on you pretty frequently and were just generally warm and welcoming. In fact, I heard several times on my short stay something to the effect of, we want you to feel at home. So, I'm a fan of this place for just that reason! -

This is my first hotel review but as much as I travel, it wont be my last... I rate hotels based on Wifi, refrigerator, and all else. So if a place is missing one or both, its a star deduction. (I mean its 2010, wifi is needed in your hotel)
With that said this hotel barely gets three stars. Wifi is $5 An HOUR! AN HOUR! If u want to make copies of documents it costs $1 A PAGE! Sillyness. Fridge cant be opened without a deposit? Huh? This place sucks. I stayed here for almost a month and was not impressed. It is saved by its breakfast, which is off the charts, but free for our party. So i imagine paying $20 makes it kinda regular.
Basically, go down the street to Hilton owned Hampton Inn who will give u a fridge, free wifi, and a decent breakfast for less money. And the Hampton inn is closer (across street) from shopping complex.
Its hard for me to give this place 3 stars. -

Stayed here for New Years and it was absolutely great!
We had so much fun, the service was spectacular and who can complain when u get to wake up with the beautiful view of Miami.
For New Years we were able to see the fireworks coming from all parts of Miami...it was quite an experience.
The rooms have been nicely updated with a more modern decor.
We requested a roll-away bed and microwave which was brought to our room within 5 min of arrival.
We also had access to the executive lounge. Real nice complimentary happy hour and continental breakfast.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This Hilton hotel has a good location, very close to airport and around lagoon. Don't know if it's an artificial one.
Cons: $10 self-parking and $15 valet parking. Not many hotels charge you parking fee. Also their carpet is too old. Need to change. No free shuttle between this Hilton and other Hiltons in town.
Pros: It has a big LCD screen showing all flights schedule just like airport. Free shuttle between airport and hotel. -

If you find yourself in Miami ~ on a short leash, unable to venture too far from the airport, this isn't a bad place to spend your days. The hotel surrounds a lagoon, which provides for a decent view - considering you are less than five miles from one of the largest airports in the country.
The pool is large and clean with plenty of lounge chairs and an outdoor bar. The fitness center is well equipped with cardio machines, free weights, benches, and pilates balls.
My room was clean, comfy and roomy.
The drawback is that you are far from any nightlife - including restaurants. And typical to any Hilton, the in house dining is expensive. Also, the room is not equipped with a refrigerator or a microwave, so the nearby market is not of much use. -

I am actually a regular at The Hilton Blue Lagoon- For the past four years I have been staying here about 3-5 times a year during business trips. The most recent time was this past week for a conference that the company I work for held there. Overall, it is nice for an airport hotel. The food is ok- I'm not a fan of the buffet but off the menu really like the fried yucca sticks and the strawberry flat salad. The food they served us during our conference was really good- Asian food one day and Latin the next. Customer service is consistently good, enjoy hanging out at the bar and out on the patio by the pool in the evenings.

One of the nicest airport hotels I've stayed at. Excellent customer service, pretty lagoon surroundings, nice updated rooms, and a lovely pool area.

Just like most Hiltons, this hotel is a good choice to stay...at least if you want to be close to the airport. The staff is friendly and willing to assist. They have a complimentary airport shuttle which is a plus, but $12.95 for internet access is a minus. The scenery is beautiful with all the palm trees and the lagoon.
The room was decent-- clean, but the carpet was a bit stained. Two beds, a little desk, mini-bar. The tv was a small traditional type rather than the big LCD flat screens that are becoming increasingly popular in hotels. Basically just a standard, no frills room.
As for my experience with the meeting rooms, we were well taken care of. We made a request to change the temperature which was handled immediately, and everything else they were already on top of. The catered food at the meeting was very good. -

There are good and bad things about this hotel.
Let's start with the bad:
- Some of the rooms desperatly need to be upgraded. We originally had a single room with two double beds. The bathroom tile was old, and the lighting fixture was the plastic grating.
- Along with the rooms, the hallways and carpets deperatly need to be cleaned and maintained.
Let's go onto the good:
- They upgraded us to a room between a regular room and a mini-suite. These rooms have been upgraded, including the bathrooms. They have a lot more room (living room and wet bar) and are much more comfortable.
- The staff is all wonderful. There are a lot of complaints with many of service workers in Miami, but you won't find that issue here, at all.
- The location is great, you can get around Miami easily, from Little Havana to The Beaches, to Downtown, to Kendall.
- The food is wonderful.
I wouldn't really say this is the ideal vacation spot - when you vacation down in Miami, I'd imagine most people would rather be on the beach. But, it's a good place. -

DO NOT STAY HERE GO TO THE HILTON GARDENS JUST 10 MINUTES AWAY. I was booked here but after waiting for 40 minutes for a van at the airport (I called twice and they kept saying every 15-20 minutes) I finally got a Hilton Van. It ended up being the wrong van. When I went to check in they did have the reservation my assistant had just made for me the hour before when my flight was cancelled. And they didn't want to come pick me up...nor did they want to cancel my reservation. After poor Diane from the Hilton Gardens was on the phone for over 30 minutes with this crap hole they fianlly released my reservation. You aren't going to come pick me up but then expect me to still come there and pay $40 more a night? Just to keep the Hilton Name good Diane gave me an upgrade to a suite for the night and a lil kit with tooth past, a razor, deodorent and spray. I'm a member and I will stay a member thanks to Diane at Hilton Gardens...

This is by far one of the worst hiltons i have stayed at. There is the lagoon and view of Miami as pros...thats why i have given 2 stars....but in the 21st century...no free internet and you pay $15 for parking....that is not acceptable to me esp if you are not in heart of downtown. I am a sound sleeper and i had some trouble due to the flights flying...i got a 4th floor room...so got a nice view of the lagoon...but the carpets are old and even the look of a hotel has this plain yellow look.

Well...not a fantastic hotel, but decent for the fee and the fact that it's an airport hotel.

This Hilton is more like a shabby motel than a real hotel. The lobby is fair enough and proximity to airport is good. The view of the Lagoon is nice. However, we stayed in a shabby room. Luckily we arrived late and checked out early. Can't say I got a good night's sleep because I was squeemish about the room. If I could have, I wouldn't have stayed there at all. I travel extensively, and staying at this Hilton is going to make me rethink staying at a Hilton in future.

back in my previous life I used to do a lot of events and trade shows, the Hilton was always in my short list- I must say that we never had a bad experience here.
Their catering team was fantastic, there was nothing they weren't willing to do to make things right - Usually we ended up staying here after the events, even though I live a few miles away, but didn't want to risk the DUI -
The rooms are nice, it is always entertaining to open the curtains and watch the airplanes land and take off. Comfortable surroundings, good location and perfect for meetings and small events. -

The Coral Cafe here was one of our favorite lunch spots when I worked out by the airport. They have a buffet with a daily rotating theme. The bread pudding was by far the best part - this was some of the best bread pudding I've ever had and I still come back here whenever I fly through MIA.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
I stayed here one night before a Caribbean Cruise and one night once back from my cruise.
I encountered the same issues both stays. The rooms smelled musty, there were cobwebs on the walls and ceilings, the TV was from 1982, the beds had stains on them, I spoke with 3 different concierges that were very rude and it was like pulling teeth to get them to help me find a place to eat for dinner. The breakfast was $20 a person for a very mediocre spread. The sausage was chewy and stuck to my teeth and the lady making the omelets didn't speak good enough English to understand my order. She messed it up twice in a row. It is close to the airport so of course there will be some understandable noise from the arriving and departing jets. Room service left carts of half eaten food in the hallways for several hours allowing the hallway to develop a disgusting rotten garbage smell.
I took their survey and told them the honest truth. Someone did try to contact me to apologize and maybe they were going to try to make amends but I am not interested in anything they have to offer me. I just simply refuse to ever stay there again. -

This is an airport hotel, folks. I can't imagine giving it a rating any higher or lower, especially since, by definition, large airplanes pass over rather frequently. I stayed for 2 nights last weekend and the place is fine for a meeting or if you have to stay somewhere while waiting for a connecting flight while in Miami. The food is average, rooms are average and the staff is friendly. It is reasonably priced as well. I wouldn't vacation there, but it is adequate for a stop-over. The pool area is actually pretty nice and there is a running/walking path which I liked. The gym is pretty decent as well.

Yeah, this is probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Let's begin with the staff at the front counter. They're rude, confused and slow to check-in, (took 15 minutes). Once I got into my room I found that, as stated in an earlier review, the room does in fact smell moldy AND low and behold, there is a TV in here from 1982, (Magnavox 24"). Under my bathroom sink appears to be chunks of drywall left over from some mediocre repair job. Many of these chunks have been stepped on over god knows how long and have turned into powder that is spread all over the floor. It took several calls but a housekeeper came and cleaned up, but yelled at me about it in broken english, so I tried to Yelp her to give her a bad review but could not find her on here. Lastly the parking sitch is terrible. In a downpour, the machine that accepts your room key to open the gate was malfunctioning and the ticket machine to let hourly parkers in was out of tickets and would not let us in. All-in-all, this place is like Paris Hilton, lots of white powder, a good view but once you get inside, its all worn out from too many guests and it smells like the bottom of the ocean.
