I just spent 9 days in the Hilton Long Beach. The staff was friendly. For the most part it was an ok stay. The room was adequate. Could have been cleaner. The rugs were gross. All though people said it was a few blocks from Pine and the Pier, they forgot to mention it is CA blocks so it was a 20 minute walk to anywhere. If you are there on the weekend please note that the businesses in the WTC are closed. I did eat at the Ascari a lot during the week and the food was adequate for hotel food.
If I were in Long Beach again I would stay at the Westin to not feel so remote.
I stayed in this hotel for a week so I got to know it pretty well.
First, its located only a few blocks from Pine Street and the Pier where there are tons of restaurants, bars, nightlife, family things, etc. As for the hotel itself, I was never disappointed. Both the pool and gym are nice, my room was very clean, and all of my interactions with staff were positive. I ran into the housekeepers a few times, and they were both pleasant and efficient. I stopped into the restaurant asking for Honey Mustard, and the chef actually made me some at no cost. Bartenders were friendly and helpful. Ordered room service about six times, and 5/6 they were much faster than stated. Food was also good.
If you are looking to be pampered like a royal family, as some people expect anywhere, then stay somewhere like Hotel del Coronado. If you are looking for a convenient, very affordable hotel with friendly staff, stay here.
Stayed here for one night while partying downtown....It was a great location so we didnt have to drive home and I found a awesome deal on their twitter page. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Like everything else in this economy, you could tell they were cutting back but it didnt affect our stay at all. We were treated like pampered guests!
I will be back soon.
Wedding at the Hilton Long Beach - 9/26/2009
We just had our wedding at the Hilton Long Beach. Joe D'Aprile is the catering manager there and he was AWESOME!!! Joe was extremely flexible with the type of wedding package we wanted. As a result, we didn't have to spend money on things that were not important to us. For example, we were able to get credit by not having 2 wine bottles at each of the tables, and used those funds for something else. Hilton also had a tasting dinner set up - just for the 2 of us. The food at the tasting was a little better than the actual food served (portions were a bit smaller) - but the food was still good.
Also, the location is awesome - great photo backgrounds. The ceremony on the Lanai is spectactular - the combination of the tall mirrored buildings and the sunset in the background is wonderful. The lobby area and the fountain area downstairs is amazing also.
We didn't have a wedding planner, so Joe stepped in and helped us with the rehearsal as well as some of the basic planning items. Our DJ put together a detailed agenda that the Hilton banquest captain and other vendors used to keep the night moving along.
Joe and his Hilton staff had everything ready by the time the ceremony started. The tables, chairs, linens, water stands, gift tables, cocktail tables - everything. We didn't have to rush through anything. Actually, our officiant didn't show up until 5 minutes before the ceremony, so we were scrambling to find another officiant. I had asked Joe if he could step in and "fake it" so the show could go on... Joe was fully on board and had even started to write out our ceremony!!!! What a guy....
Dinner was served right on time, the cake was beautiful, the food was good, the service was great, and the whole evening went perfectly. Joe even had his staff gather the chairs and linens and had them ready for pick up (we rented these items from another vendor) the following day without charging us. All in all, Joe and Hilton were extremely flexible and they gave us great piece of mind throughout the entire evening and planning process.
Joe - thank you for your hard work and helping us have a wonderful wedding!!!
I stayed at Hilton Long Beach last Saturday night and was very impressed! The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff was very helpful and accomodating, and the location was great - just a short walk to bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Not to mention, my room had a great view of downtown area and the Queen Mary! I really enjoyed my stay and the next time I am in Long Beach will definitely be returning to this hotel.
Great staff, clean rooms, central location..
I don't have much to complain about our stay at this Hilton. Service was good. There was always some event going on in their conference area, but the hotel was rather quiet and subdue, overall.
The cons:
-$15/day for parking? you should park on the street and get some exercise.
- the airline check in kiosk at the front lobby was not useful for Jet Blue flights
- no flatscreen TV
- pretty basic/dull room
-no wi-fi
The pros:
-convenient downtown locale
-easy freeway access (710)
- you can get some good deals out there for under $100/night
- good view
- pretty decent gym
I'd definitely come back, for the right price.

While people complain about the location of this hotel (they should have google map'd it first) I would say that this hotel rubbed me in all the right ways. The super clean bathrooms and polite employees were great as well.
They have a health club that had ample exercising tools to your disposal. The room was clean and fairly insulated against noise from your neighbors (I didn't hear much of anything).
Aside from the ridiculous $15 / day parking and the child-proof window openings I was very happy with my stay at the Hilton. Shoot, their beds were more comfortable than mine! No free internet access also prevented this hotel from getting 5/5. If you are paying upwards of $75 a night you should at least get some internet with it!
Blah, what a horrible experiance at the Hilton. Granted my friend's sister was able to score us a good hotel rate, the service here sucks to say the least. This past weekend they had a huge Indian wedding here and everynight there were guests in the lobby AND the halls causing a rukus until 4 in the morning! Good thing I wasn't planning on getting much sleep this weekend but still, it was awfully annoying that management didn't have their guests contained.
I don't think I'd want to come here again, and pay the freakin $15 parking fee a day either!
Damn, for as much as I paid for this room, I really wish I had stayed somewhere else. I am used to the whole Hilton thing-- they charge you extra to use the internet in your room, the tv channels suck, they room service food is crazy expensive and in no way impressive. But I am not complaining about those things because those are the same at every Hilton and I knew what I was getting in to.
So what's my beef? Two big things: the first is that they lied to me about my room service-- pasta with tomato sauce, so, not long to make, right? They completely forgot to put in my order, and when I finally called an hour after ordering (it was supposed to take 30 min), the guy said, "Oh, uh, I think I saw that just go out. I'll be sure to make sure it gets up there okay..." Bullshit. He forgot to put in the order-- I was a server and I know it can happen. But I am *honest* with my customers about crap that goes wrong. I *apologize* and let them know what's happening; if it's my fault, I say so. 20 minutes later, the room service guy was at my door. Yeah, okay, I am sure it was a really long elevator ride.
Second? Dogs--they let dogs stay there and they don't tell you about it when you book your reservation. I love dogs and I especially love well-behaved dogs, but a good rule of thumb: if you have to travel *with* your dogs because if you leave them at home they bark incessantly, what do you think happens when you leave them alone in a hotel room?? That's what I thought!!
The walls of these hotel rooms are really, really thin. The dogs that were barking were two rooms down and I could hear them loud and clear. I wasn't the only one. When I went into the hall to investigate exactly which room the 3-hour-long barking tirade (two dogs, no less) was coming from, I found TWO of my fellow floor compatriots out in the hallways doing the same. We gave each other knowing looks, rolled our eyes, and went back to our rooms. I think we all must have called down to the front desk so many times that they finally either threw the people out or moved their room. In any case, they ought to have one designated floor for the pooches, or at the very least, TELL you when you reserve that they allow dogs. It's a good thing I am not allergic!

Another night in a mediocre Hilton.
At $75 per night, like Andy F paid, awesome.....at $180 which I paid, not-so-much.
Smallish rooms, no frills room furnishings (no LCD's) and worst yet as someone who Hilton claims to love (ahem, Gold at present and will be Diamond by next month) I got none here. No upgrade. Club floor, sans club and two miniture bottles of evian.
Boo to this Hilton.
I was going to an event at the Queen Mary & as convenient as it is, I had no urge to stay in a small cabin on board...I will always prefer a good bed over novelty. I tried out Priceline & got a room for $70 @ the Hilton. Me & my friends ate at the Daily Grill in the hotel because we were in a rush. The food was okay. It's a casual place in the Hilton...I didn't exactly expect much. Room was clean, large & the beds were pretty comfy (not as good as Westin). Balcony was small, but whatever, I didn't go out there anyway. It was easy to get in & out & all in all, it was a painless experience. One thing...our toilet kept making the oddest noises...all the time. It sounded like it was flushing except no one was in it. Kinda lame when you're trying to sleep off a hangover.
This place is aight. I typically like a hotel based on the bedding and bathroom. Both were nice. However, the complete ambiance of the rest of the hotel overshadowed that and I wish I had stayed at a nicer, more modern, quieter place with a much bigger pool than the pea sized 3 ft. deep kiddie pool with 8 lounge chairs to fight over with other guests. My drinks took 45 minutes to come out to the pool area and don't even bother ordering snacks unless you like soggy, fried food. I've stayed at much nicer, comfier places in Long Beach;) but if you've already booked it, it's not a complete disappointment and you'll be close enough to walk to the restaurants and such.
Great service! We pull and they open my car door, then open the lobby door, easy check in and great rooms. After sleeping on their wonderful bed I was reminded of how bad I need a new mattress. I love the bath towels and the amenities. Minus one star for the night time desk clerk not giving us our free breakfast vouchers. Luckily, the morning clerk who checked us out caught it and comp'd it. Now that's service! I'll be back with confidence.

Let's set the clock back nearly 3 years to where I am coming from the transportation industry back to technology and will be working in the WTC attached to The Hilton. I begin talking to The Hilton about renewing our business agreement with them for travelers and guests who we would like to continue putting up over there. We had over 1000 rooom nights per year which is a lot for a Long Beach business. They couldn't care less. Made no efforts to keep our business and tried raping us on the price. Met with the owner and new sales director. They didn't care either. So we left and went to The Westin right away. GREAT move on our part. The Westin rocks and makes The Hilton look like Motel 6. Now fast forward to today. Our employees have had to stay there on 2 occasions because we use their over priced Executive Meeting Center and the force you to use their rooms to get a price break. We only put as few people there as we could. They all said it was lame compared to The Westin. So, I also workout daily at the fitness center there because I bought a membership when the fitness center was managed by a great trainer. Now it is unmanaged to say the least. They don't care. It is always a mess, no soap, no towels, hot or cold showers...no warm. The staff that I have met there for the most part thinks they are working at The Ritz, but I wouldn't hire them at the YMCA. Although there is one hot guy there that I have seen wandering around...he wears a suit and seems friendly enough...but for what reason? Anyway, based on my experience and that of the employees at my company and the people I workout with, skip this place for the Motel 6 or Travelodge...you will get the same quality.
Oh, and Paris...if you read this you may want to change your last name based on this location.

Very nice hotel. Surprisingly nice, modern decor in the rooms. Very very nice mattress. Had a little balcony in the room and it was cool to have my morning coffee looking out over the massive port complex. We walked to dinner on Pine street from here in about 10-15 minutes.

The suites are nice, but the hotel is not that impressive.
I stayed here for my night before and night of my wedding. I booked my room through http://expedia.com and I thought it was all gravy... however when I checked in, they did not have my reservation.... Long story short, expedia never sent it to them and I did not have the room I reserved. They got us in a room with 2 queen beds, which was fine for the night before, however the night of the wedding we needed a king bed - as I booked. My best friend talked to the front desk person, Cindy, about the concerns and she totally took care of them. She was able to get us a much nicer room for the night of the wedding and it worked out so well! My photographer was able to get the best pictures in this amazing room with a HUGE balcony. Also the front desk, when we asked about parking, let us know that on the weekend the parking lot on broadway never closes.... so even though they suggested we parked in their lot for $14 a day..... hint-hint.
