What's the difference between a Full Service Hotel and a Business Hotel?
Service and Ameneties.
The more people on staff to serve you, the more expensive the Hotel. Makes sense. As for comparing amenties:
Full Service: Pay $20 day Valet, $16/day self -serve to park
Business: Free self parking
This HIlton: $20 valet, $16 self park
Full Service: 2 bathrobes for apres shower, plus 3 of all towel sizes.
Business: No bathrobes, and 2 each towel size.
This Hilton: No robes, but 3 towels
Full Service: Hair dryer in a soft cloth bag discretely hidden from view
Business: Hair dryer on the wall with that auto-off feature
This Hilton: Soft cloth bag hairdryer
Full service: 2 or 3 restaurants and a swank lounge and bar
Business: basic restaurant, small bar:
This Hilton: 1 restaurant (I think)
Full Service: 24 hour room service at expensive rates
Business: 24 hour snacks at desk, microwave and fridge in room
This Hilton: 24 hour room service at expensive rates
Full service: Vanity, make-up mirror, basic toiletries, plus shoe cloth and sewing kit
Business: Basic Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion)
This Hilton: Basic toiletries only, but a shoe cloth
Full Service: 5 pillows and a bed roll
Business: 4 pillows and a colored half bedspread
This HIlton: 5 pillows and a bed roll
Full Service: Nice, queit rooms
Business: Thinner walls and often near airports
This HIlton: next to airport, jet engine noises
This HIlton is directly across McArthur Boulevard to Santa Ana - John Wayne - Orange County airport. You really can't get much closer to the Airport in a hotel, except for the Holiday Inn slightly closer.
It is a great central location, beside being near the airport, it is near the 405, 55 and 73 freeways, so you can get around the O.C. and beyond pretty easy, traffic willing.
It is a full Hilton Hotel, but being next to the airport, it is really by default , a business hotel.. As Hilton's go, not being in a resort location but near an airport, it is a hybrid somehwere between the Full Service and Business hotel.
They do have a nicer than Business gym, with all new Cable TV Precor C/V equipment.
I got a special $159 room rate. But I think rack rates are over $200.

We brought in family to stay with us for a family reunion and used this hotel for our guests. Everyone was pleased with the rooms, location, restaurant and the new pool. It is so convenient to be near the airport as well as the beach and South Coast plaza. We will use this hotel again.

Great Experience at this hotel. We stayed at this hotel that night before we flew out from John… Read more »
This Hilton would be very convenient for a business travellor. Literally right across the street from John Wayne airport, and close to the Irvine financial district on Main street.
Ive stayed at numerous hotels around the Irvine/Costa Mesa area and this hotel was one of my favourites. It was generally solid all around. Nice clean pool, comfortable bed, and very friendly desk attendants. It is one of the better Hiltons that I have stayed at.

Nice clean rooms, although on the small side, with typical good Hilton bedding and toiletries. Better then the average Hilton. Service from staff was excellent which pushed them over the hump to 4 stars.

The OC is where I go with my Man for some Alone Time. This Hilton is right across the street from the airport. Good if you're a business man or traveller not so go if you're going for ambiance and romance. The rooms are very nice. We've been twice and stayed on the Executive Floor both times.
There are 3 main problems with this hotel. #1 - there's no balcony. There's this 3 foot little platform w/a rail but the door won't open more than 4 inches so that does not a balcony make. #2 - both times we've run into children and their sports teams. The first time it was soccer. This time, girls softball. #3 - parking is $14/day. DUMB
A nice place to get your groove on one night, but I wouldn't suggest it for a long stay.
My girlfriends and I came to Irvine for a little get away. We stayed two nights and received a round of golf at the Strawberry Farms golf course for only $80. We booked our hotel through the Irvine Visitor Bureau and received a $50 voucher.
Obviously, not as nice as the FAIRMONT down the street, but it is a great place for those on vacation. My third floor room was decently sized (with 2 double - beds) with the normal amenities. I didn't hear the airplanes. Although, my boyfriend said that he had heard the neighbors talking and such at night, I didn't hear anything b/c I was DEAD TIRED.
The cleaning staff seemed to have done a good job for the 2 days that we stayed at the hotel. It made vacationing even more enjoyable. As always, I am happy to report that nothing was swiped from the room while we were away (I've had it happen at a hilton in St. Louis, MO).
So, all in all, this hotel earns a solid 3 stars. The only complaint would be the noise between rooms.
This is a moderately priced hotel. I don't know the exact cost b/c I booked it as part of a http://Travelocity.com package.

They were renovating when we went. And they didn't mention that when making the reservation. Which kinda upset my friend who likes a nice bar to be available a step away.. But our room was nice. I was impressed. The decor was clean and contemporary while still being cozy and comfortable. And the down pillows were the bomb. Unfortunately, I had laryngitis when we stayed, but I was kinda glad to have this uber comfy bed and pillows to convalesce in and room service to pamper me.
What was a disappointment was going to the restaurant to eat. Wtf?? It was a little windowless box of a room with temporary tables. And we were the only ones. I whispered, "what the fuck? this is weird and uncomfortable and creepy. The waitress overheard and laughed. And explained. They are remodeling, so this is their temporary dining room. Go to the bar, there is at least people in there. Oops, another temporary place while they build the real bar. So we mosey on up to the tables or crates or Lego's or whatever the hell are draped with tablecloths to make a pseudo-bar. At least the bartender was really really nice and friendly. And kinda cute to boot. He suggested we go to Z Mario's for dinner, and it was good advice. Room service was overpriced as usual with a limited menu, and nothing great, but it did the job. They made me a special omelet with no cheese and extra veggies.
On the morning of leaving, we did use our complimentary breakfast buffet and complimentary cocktails from the bar. So that was nice.
The planes. The planes... If you are a light sleeper, this might not be for you. You definitely hear the planes. And maybe after they are done remodeling, I can say this is a pretty nice place.
fairly typical Hilton chain hotel, nicer interior than many, but rooms are on the smallish side...airplane noise didnt really bother due to airport's noise abatement program....if you're in the Hilton elite levels (Gold or Diamond) you get freebie breakfasts (otherwise $18, what a ripoff!) which are better than any other freebie Hilton breakfast I've seen, and free drink coupons too. The staff tends to dress more corporate than other Hiltons too..too bad the concierge level was eliminated, one star off for that.
update Mar 2008: recently renovated restaurant area (which I dont think was improved as a result), they have eliminated the evening free snacks and the breakfast is now thoroughly average. Oh, and this time the planes were noisy.Universal entropy triumphs again!
Nice place, it's ok, I stayed her in May 2008. Really comfortable beds, but the room service stops at 10:00pm, what is up with that? Also, limited menu and drinks. :( They are lucky they are across from the airport. They need to lower the room prices a little more. Thin walls.

Decent joint. Paris didn't come to visit me in my room, or welcome me at the door, but what can you do. I was there for a conference, and the facilities were clean and nice. It's an airport Hilton - what more can I tell ya.

Tiny rooms and a so-so atmosphere and off course a Starbucks in the lobby.
