I stayed at the Hilton downtown Indy for New Years and a Colts game. Our rate was $119 a night, but we booked well in advance and noticed that the rate went up quite a bit in the couple months before we arrived.

We had a king room with lots of space and a nice desk to sit at. I used the Wi-Fi downstairs in the lobby and it worked great for us(and was free). We had a problem at check in when our room wasn't ready, so the front desk offered us free breakfast at the 120 West Market, which has a wonderful buffet. We arrived after 11am when the breakfast buffet was over, so the server said we could pay $4 per person and have the brunch buffet. It was great and def worth us paying a couple bucks. If you can include the 120 W Market in your rate with Hilton, I would def recommend it.

This Hilton is about 5 blocks from Lucas Oil stadium and 3 blocks from the Convention Center. Circle Center mall is a couple blocks away with very nice shops. There are great places to eat all over the place. Try St. Elmo's for shrimp cocktail and steaks, it is wonderful! Harry and Izzie's is a couple blocks away and is a great place for lunch or dinner and Peyton Manning is part owner. If you're looking for a bar within walking distance, try the Slippery Noodle. We spent a couple nights there and it's an awesome establishment!

We also saw the Indy 500 museum, which is a short 10 minute ride away. We took at cab and it cost about $12 each way. Cabs sit right outside the Hilton, so they are easy to find. The Go Indy Green Line is directly across the street from the Hilton and is a great way to get to and from the airport since there is no shuttle. It costs $7 per person.

Overall, Hilton was a nice place to stay at with nothing over the top, but is in a great location surrounded by the best places to eat, shop, and sightsee.

Great rooms. Clean and modern for the most part but there are a few signs of wear starting to creep out in some places (like the shower heads). Hilton HHonors Gold will get you free WiFi and other amenities.

On the down side I was traveling with a group and in total we used 4 rooms. Two were ready at noon, one at around 3:30, and the last not until around 5:00 or later. It was great to have some of the rooms early but the last one dragged on later than anyone of us expected and also long after the front desk lead us to believe as well.

They finally joined the party.  Don't expect a quick connection or even an adequately amateur paced one but at least it exists.

Note: Don't give the hotel the credit when you wake up with mustard stains on your sleeves and knees & you're wearing your shirt as pants... that's just you being awesome.

Rare is the opportunity to stay at a hotel in my hometown (hometown as in... where I be livin'), and a wedding reception at a hotel is the prime chance. This hotel is part of a giant corporate complex that's quasi-mall.

The self-park underneath the building freaked me out. I really don't understand how they justify cutting it that close with the space between the ceiling & the cars' roof... so I'd be sure to check the car top before you get back in it after the valet brings it to you.

The front desk was totally up for a pitying upgrade to a king bedroom, late notice... so really... that's enough for a positive review. It's funny that a view of a government building (the State Capitol) is sought after... I suppose there really is a couple out there toasting their raspberry champagne and saying, "Cheers to our lovely government. I love you, sweetheart." Me on the other hand...I see this as a fine opportunity to moon the Capitol, elevated no less.

Service is attentive. Bar is stocked and service is slow with endless seas of conference newbies to stand behind, but once at the bar... you might just meet a man named Mike from Louisville who drops knowledge like the Marlboro Man in The Big Lebowski.

Rates? It seems like Hilton owns Indy, and there's no other option... last minute for a wedding reception in the same building, I'll take what they're giving me... but for no other reason. They seemed not to mind a wiley young duo scurrying through their hotel with mustard-y ham & cheese croquets with bottles of beer clanging -- thanks!

Note: Anyone else see that our State Capitol is listed as "State Chiropractic Association" on the Google/Yelp Map? Fascinating stuff.

The location is perfect... I had no idea I would be able to just walk out the door downtown and be able to walk to not only the IUPUI law school building, a shopping mall.. restaurants, and bars all at such a short walk..

My room was a great size.. a large comfy bed.. I spoke spanish with the cleaning lady and got brand new pillows...They were so accommodating.. and I"m an annoying ask for a lot guest.. and they definitely had no problem answering all my questions..

There is no wifi.. which is weird.. and there is no safe / lockbox inside of the room to store your stuff while you're not in there..however you can get a safe deposit box from there free of charge... it's weird though because you have to keep your stuff locked up downstairs in a room behind the front desk.. it's like why travel and bring these things.. that you're going to store far away from your room and have to go through more than I would want to to get it.. that's a problem .

The workout area is cool... they have many amenities...   I'd def stay here again

A bit dated. I can only imagine the partying that goes on in these rooms during Indianapolis 500

Location is perfect.  So much within walking distance and we felt safe even in the early am when the streets were bare and we walked to the City Cafe for breakfast.

The attached garage was $22 a night, which seems pricey but was comparable to the other overnight garages and had the convenience of being attached to the hotel.

We got a King Room and the bed was ultra comfortable, I slept all night which is rare for me in hotels, and the room was clean, had everything we needed to.  The shower had fantastic water pressure (a necessity for those of us with long hair) and used Crabtree & Evelyn products which was a nice and unexpected touch.

Those working the front desk were kind, quick and attentive.  One was a little slow at helping us find a restaurant (her mapquest skilz weren't up to par) but she did her best and we got what we were looking for.

If we were going to downtown Indy again I would definitely stay here.  It was $119 a night, plus (ugh) $20 in room tax but it was our anniversary so i'm glad we didn't go cheap.

Although there are some nice pros including a great location which is walking distance to all of the major downtown attractions amd best restaurants, a beautiful lobby, friendly, efficient service at check in all in a nice big room with a spacious bath and a flat screen on a full swivel stand so that you can watch it from the desk or bed.

Some major cons: NO wi-fi, only plug in ethernet cable access at the desk for $9.95/ day, no minibar or fridge, valet parking is expensive at $28/ day.

Nice, but needs some technological updates!

I stayed here for the better part of a week for this year's Gen Con. Shared a King Room with a friend - bed was quite comfortable, and the room was surprisingly large when compared to other downtown hotels (Marriott, I'm looking at you). Room had a full sized desk and a sleeper-sofa, along with another chair and coffee table, plus a large dresser and flat screen TV.

Bathroom is nice - lots of counter space, but the lack of a fan and the downright tiny trashcan were a bit weird. Also, the only extra we got was a coffee maker - no microwave or fridge, although we could have paid extra to have them in the room, at the rate of $10 each, per night, which is my largest complaint about the hotel. For $180-190 a night (that's after taxes, but NOT including parking, which is over $20 a day), I should have at least a small fridge in the room, so as to not have to lug a massive cooler with me into the room.

Other than that, the hotel is within decent range of the convention center - a ten or fifteen minute walk, depending on your pace and luck with stop lights. While I would have preferred a connected hotel (that is, connected to the convention center via hamster tubes), the Hilton was a decent alternative.

The walls are paper thin and the staff is not friendly. While the room was very clean and nice, it would be way better if it was in isolation.

The staff is unwilling to resolve problems and I got several eye rolls before I could get two extra keys and a cot in the room.

The name and the lobby are not enough to make this a great hotel. We stayed in a state suite. The bathrooms were updated but that's it. While nice looking, the bathroms had issues. The shower diverter only transferred about 80% of the water to the shower head. The tub filled up quickly and was very slow to drain. They also failed to install vent fans in the bathrooms which was a hassle.

The room itself was large, with a wall of windows overlooking the city. There is a large desk in the corner facing away from the windows and not private. There is a large round table with four chairs. The living area also had a couch and two armchairs facing the entertainment center. The furniture was old looking and uncomfortable. There is a nice little wetbar with a refrigerator and coffee maker.

The sofa folds out into the single worst possible surface you could imagine sleeping on, outranked even by armchair and floor. Sleeping on a chicken wire hammock would be preferable. They also failed to include extra pillows for this option.

The master bedroom has its own bathroom, a nice king bed and closes off from the rest of the room.

If you have to entertain and do business, it might meet your needs.

Even with the overly expensive price for what you get, they have plenty of upcharges. Internet access for example among others like $22/day for parking and half the breakfast options. The parking garage is open air and you have to walk outside from the hotel to get to it. There was an issue of a misquoted price for the service from the front desk, with the attendant being rude about it. They do offer valet for an upcharge.

Basic breakfast is free with voucher, but if you want hot food, and some drinks, it costs extra. You also have to wait for their incredibly slow service to get drinks and wait to check out (even if you get the free voucher).

For the price, I was quite disappointed.

Awesome hotel with great service, very reasonably priced and phenomenal location.  Just down the street from the capital building and the monument on Meridian.  Plenty of good restaurants and nightlife within walking distance.  The area seemed safe, too.  Extremely easy access on and off I-65.  Room was spacious, beds were very comfortable.  Would definitely recommend!

Great hotel with great service! I have stayed here 4 maybe 5 times and the hotel is old and the rooms are a little old but the service is great and the location is awesome if you are in town of a convention.
