We drove up after our day at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We were greeted right away. The staff was very friendly.
The room was beautiful. Two queens size beds, sofa, desk area, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, bar sink and a balacony with two chairs and table. The towels are very soft. Down pillows and comforter. Very clean and nice decor.
The hotel also had a full size fitness center, pool and spa. Peaceful location and quiet.
Great hotel. There is not a lot of selection for decent hotels. Most of the hotels which are in Santa Cruz and close to the beach are kinda run down. So hubby and I opted to be in a nicer hotel a little further from the beach. The room was a really decent size with a sitting area and a little bar. The bathroom was huge! Very tastefully decorated. The reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the room had some stains here and there (I don't want to think anymore about them).
We had breakfast via room service and it was fine. Pretty standard fare.
The staff is also pretty nice and helpful. They seem to be mostly young college kids.
Over great place to stay.
Decided to take the family to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk yesterday. Had some points for a free night, so I chose this place. Only 10-15 minutes from the Boardwalk (if there's no traffic on I-17). Hotel was pretty nice. Beds were comfortable. Funny that there was no remote for the TV. Instead, you had to use the game controller. Weird, but we weren't there for TV anyway. Stayed on the 3rd floor, but I suggest staying on the 4th floor instead if you like to swim or workout.
The pool was nearly cold in the evening (no heat?), but it was a decent size for me to practice my swim lessons (5 ft. max. depth). There was also a jacuzzi a few feet away. The gym was great and had a nice selection of Precor branded equipment (3 treadmills, 2 "cross country" machines, 1 stationary bike, lots of barbells, medicine balls, and a stationary workout machine to work on lats, gluts, etc.). The treadmills, CC machines and bike all had TV monitors with headphones (there were extra earphone covers in case the ones you were about to put on were nasty - EEEWWW!). There was also a large TV in the corner. Closes at 10pm, but if there's someone in there past 10pm who can let you in, you can sneak in a workout like I did (the card key doesn't work after 10pm).
They have a dining room that serves all three meals, but pricey.
Appreciate the complimentary bottled water (coupon good for two 16.9 oz bottles, but they gave us another for my daughter).
Better to take the stairs instead of the elevator (it's a little slow).
Plenty of parking.
Would stay here again (when I have more points).

i stayed here for my 2 year anniversary and i was still impressed. i checked in around midnight on sat and the front desk guy was suppper kind and professional. he informed us about how we can use the cart to load our luggage and leave it in the hallway by our rm when we were done. if he didnt tell us, we wouldve taken 2 trips and we were on the 5th floor.
we ordered breakfast the next morning, and had a few questions. they were quick to answer and gave informative answers. it took about 10-15 mins for our food to be delivered in our rm. it was delicious, kindda pricey but we were on vacation =]
thennn that same night we wanted to watch movies we brought from home and sadly, my laptop wasnt cooperating...so i called the front desk and asked if they had a dvd player available. and they did, they charge roughly $25 for it. better make it worth it, watch all the movies you can with it. haha. =]

Great hotel for the area! Not a lot of choices in the area making this one stand out! Rooms are spotless and roomy. I tour in a entertainer tour bus 45' long and they have abundant parking! Very friendly staff, good food in the restaurant, small and quaint bar with a knowledgeable bar staff. I would suggest this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
About ready to check out of this nightmare hotel. Absolutely over-priced and poor communicatin amongst the staff.
The only "extra" the place has is free Wi-Fi. It was $280 for a standard room and there wasn't even complimentary breakfast.
The only reason I gave the second star was Leo the bartender. He kept the bar open pretty late and was excellent!
Don't waste your money here.
On anniversary Brad took me to this Hilton as a surprise on our weekend getaway to Santa Cruz. He knows I love amusement parks, and I really didn't want to stay at the Carousel Inn across from Santa Cruz since that place is a little bit weird.
This Hilton is very beautiful. It is in the shape of a castle and just gorgeous. The grounds are well kept, the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
He arranged for us to have a royal suite. It was sooo beautiful.
It had its own kitchenette, 1 bedroom and 1 1/2 baths.
The bedroom was comfortable, nice soft warm blankets, plenty of towels, marble floor bathrooms with soft white terry cloth robes.
Their Sunday breakfast buffet is marvelous. Prime rib, omelet bar, and again the staff was excellent and efficient.
You really can't go wrong with this Hilton...it's peaceful, serene, and the staff make you feel like royalty.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Hilton in Scotts Valley.
About four and a half years ago when I was a senior in high school, my family and I were visiting our relatives in England for Christmas.
When we arrived back in Scotts Valley - excited to be home and back to our lives - we met what some might consider their WORST NIGHTMARE... A pipe had burst in one of our bathrooms and water had been running through the house for days. DISASTER!! CRISIS!! My house had turn into a lake.
So, our insurance company's solution? Put us up in the Hilton in Scotts Valley for 7 months while our house was built from the bottom-up while trying to maintain a "normal" lifestyle, yeah not so much.
My parents had a suite and my 11 year old brother and I shared a room - two beds, one small room. It was pretty miserable lol. We had our toaster, our microwave, our computers, our printers - basically everything you could imagine, and set it up in our hotel rooms. We also have two Siamese cats who became permanent residents of the Hilton as well. They found this experience extremely stressful and they had no where to run, play and be free. So they would climb up the mesh curtains with their claws to release their energy which didn't exactly leave the curtains in a condition that would please the Hiltons. One of our cats also went very peculiar at the time and his dark brown fur went grey!! He went back to normal though as soon as we moved out!
The restaurant wasn't bad and the staff were really friendly (they saw us almost every evening). There were lots of fun things about living at the hotel though; we had my prom and graduation party at our new "house" and my little brother even had a pool party for his birthday. By far the best thing about the whole experience was the pool and Jacuzzi. My friends and I were always swimming - and bringing beer in and having our own pool parties! The Hilton has a BIG problem with locals sneaking in (a.k.a. putting their hand over the gate) and partying at the pool. So the hotel staff, without a doubt, would come harass me EVERY NIGHT about if I was staying there and what my room number was. I LIVED THERE!! That was a little irritating. But it definitely wasn't so bad having someone pick up your room every day and make your bed!
Overall, the Hilton in SV is a really nice hotel, is a HUGE improvement from the motels in Santa Cruz and is a great place to stay (and live lol).

This place is god awful, I have spoke to many other brides who looked at this place for weddings and we all had something in common, we were lied to on several different accounts. Don't be fooled they seem and are nice at the beginning then when it comes to money or talking about negotiations they don' seem to recall certain guarantee pricing or certain things that were promised. I even had things in writing stating what they told me, they still wouldn't go through on what was said. Overall I wouldn't want another bride or groom to go through what we went through. The main Manager seems to be the main guy who supposedly makes these decisions but seems to me, they are cowards and deceitful in there ways.
If you have any q-s please e-mail me, I will tell you exactly what they said. I have documents of e-mails. I will be glad to share with you.

This is our third time staying in a Hilton, and we agreed after this trip that when we can afford it we will book a Hilton every time. It's steep, but nowhere is it more evident that you get what you pay for than in this chain. I do yoga so I'm the first to notice if a place isn't clean, 'cause my face is right down there at carpet-level....this place is clean, even by my OCD standards
$200 incl tax for a saturday night, we went down to Santa Cruz for a 2-hr sailing cruise, then went out to dinner and came back to the hotel. NICE hottub and heated outdoor pool, granite (as mentioned above) and king-sized beds. Also, the bathroom is large enough that you don't get a bruise if you turn around too quickly and the shower head is tall enough for 6'+ guys.
This next item is a pet peeve of mine and I have noticed the HIlton comes through for me every time : the windows opened ALL of the way so you could get some fresh air if you wanted to. There were strawberries and sage growing in the back area.
The front desk staff went beyond the call of duty by helping to store two kegs of beer for the cruise event in their walk-ins. We had pre-arranged, but the front desk had obviously not been notified and still was able to smoothly address the situation. They are pros at making you feel welcome- there's a beautiful black granite fountain in the foyer too-
We didn't eat here, but late Saturday night I stopped at the bar for a glass of wine and I received a generous pour in a very nice glass- no cheap glassware here- nice bartendress too- $9 with tip
I walked down the hill to a local coffee shop and had a good coffee and friendly service there too - can't beat the location, you could spit and hit 17 into Santa Cruz.
I have added to my goal list "The ability to make enough money to have the Hilton become a standard"
07/08/09 Edit: came back to stay overnight for a friend's wedding and stayed at the Hilton again. They really did an exceptional job, so much so that I was compelled to edit my review and give them more kudos:
the crib we'd requested was in the room, the place was super clean, the towels in the bathroom were extra large and soft (and didn't smell of bleach-yeck)...the Argentinian bartender was very kind and served a generous glass of wine with a nice smile...the front desk staff was friendly and greeted us every time we entered or left...the more I travel the more I value a clean and friendly environment, and this Hilton fits the bill every time!

Great location, close to Santa Cruz and mountain activities. Stayed here 3 nights with husband and 2 little boys. Got a room with balcony and 2 queen beds. The smell of pot smoke frequently wafted inside our room from next door, not that I'm complaining. We stayed on the first floor and it was quiet at night, no loud neighbors or anything. Rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. Seemed like this hotel is run by teenagers, or maybe 20 somethings. I never saw anyone over 25 besides the maintenance guy. The overall service was fine. We ate at the hotel for the breakfast buffett, which was totally not worth $18/person, at least I had a coupon. Dinner was pretty decent and not outrageously overpriced. There were never any clean towels for the pool. Not sure it was worth $325 a night. I definitely won't stay there again at that price.

We just stayed at this place last weekend and it was surprisingly nice. It is not like the typical Hilton Hotels. It only had 6 floors and was built on the face of the valley side. The staff was nice and happy to help. There is free valet Monday through Friday. There is plenty of free parking and plenty of free internet. The only complaint that I have is that the hotel with all two elevators that you need to go up. I realize it is two buildings, but he to be a better way. And the other thing that needs to get better is the tv. None of them had the red, white and yellow plugs so we can play Rock Band! Anyway, I could handle staying here again one day.
A great place to spend the night, just outside of Santa Cruz in Scott's Valley. I had a wonderful evening celebrating my birthday in the lounge, the drinks were great and the food was fresh. Finally the suite in the tower was amazing, I felt that I could live there. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and efficient. Stay here if you are staying in the Santa Cruz - Monterey area.

Beautiful hotel! I won a free nights stay here, and I decided to head down to Santa Cruz for my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. This hotel has free parking, free internet and a 24 hour outdoor pool/hot tub and 24 hour fitness center. The room we had was immaculately clean and gorgeous! King size bed, loveseat (I don't think it could pull out to make a bed), microwave, mini fridge, mini sink unit (separate from bathroom) and marble countertops. The service was very nice and the front desk gave me directions to the Mystery Spot, which is only a 10 minute drive from the property. I also forgot a comb and one was promptly brought up to my room. Great upgrade from the motels in Santa Cruz.

We stayed here recently with the Romance package. Bf's mom had actually made the rez for us, so we didn't quite know what that included. It was nice to check in and find out there was a bottle of champagne waiting to be brought up to us.
I had just stayed at the Hilton NY on 6th Avenue the week prior and what a difference! These two stays were my first stays in Hiltons. This property has large rooms and they were clean. Chelsea P. described the rooms - ours was the same. We also had a balcony (unfortunately it overlooked the parking lot, but the moutains were right above that). We were too late to check out the hot tub (closed at 10pm), but that area looked pretty nice.
The complimentary valet parking was a plus, and the staff here was very pleasant. We asked multiple questions about golf reservations and they were happy to help. We also ordered room service and the berry dessert thing we ordered was yummy. The antipasti platter was so huge we were still munching on it in the morning (only problem was that there wasn't enough bread for all the cheese).
When we arrived, we asked for a late check out and they were able to accommodate us with that as well. Unfortunately, bf was in a hurry to play golf, so we raced down to the cafe for breakfast before checking out early. On Sundays they have a Champagne breakfast. Because we had the Romance package, we had a credit up to $25 for breakfast. It was nice because if you order an entree, all the drinks, pastries, and fruit are included in the price. If I wasn't instructed that I had to eat quickly, I would have ordered everything!
The reason they don't get 5 stars was because of the breakfast. The food itself was ok. And at first the service was good because the waitress was willing to bring us mimosas even though they weren't on the menu. But after we had everything, we never saw her again even though she walked by us a bunch of times! And we were in a hurry, so someone had ants in his pants the whole time. . .
