A Hilton in the High Desert?!???
My parents are putting my grandparents up in the brand-spanking-new Hilton Garden Inn off of Mariposa for their Thanksgiving visit. They went over to check them in tonight, and I had to see the high desert's take on a Hilton.
The place is 4 stories, and nice, by High Desert standards. My father requested a 2-queen suite on the first floor with a modest walk for my Grammy, who is using an oxygen tank. He got exactly what he asked for, and the room is quite nice. It could be roomier, but otherwise it has large, beautifully furnished beds and a large flat-screen television.
The lobby area could be larger, but is nicely furnished in auburn and dark wood. There is an open eating space and small bar off to the side, which are somewhat modest by Hilton standards. There is a small outdoor pool to the side of the lobby. I wasn't very impressed, especially since it didn't appear to have a jacuzzi.
For the area, and the price ($89/night), this Hilton is just right. If you're expecting the caliber of Hilton you might find in large cities, you're not going to find it here- although the low nightly fee might have clued you on to that. Otherwise, cheers to the newest construction project in the already overly-commercialized high desert!

There.s a lot to love here, but still I was disappointed. I will start with the good stuff. Small bar and restaurant area downstairs so you can get room service and b'fast. Kind of unusual in a business hotel. All rooms have a ridge and a microwave. Loves. They do an ok job cleaning the rooms although need to remember to take the garbage out. No PPV movies. No Bravo. No DVD player. Close to the mall and some decent sushi places. Right on the freeway for easy access. Worst thing. I left my camera and some electric cords and whatnot in the nightstand drawer and they claim not to have found it. I KNOW I left it there. Because of this, I will not stay there again ever. Someone stole it. Period. So, done.
