I stayed here for two nights while visiting friends in the area, and these were my experiences....

Parking: A little confusing with the way they do the swipe-card vs. taking a ticket, but once I got used to it, it was ok. Not thrilled about paying $5/day for parking but I know that's how it goes in this area.

Check-in: Fast and friendly, and they gave me 2 bottles of water for being a Hilton Honors member. About 15 minutes after getting to my room, they called me to ask if everything in the room was satisfactory. Nice touch.

Room service: At one point in my stay I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries to be delivered to my room. Why stay at a hotel if you don't take advantage of the room service? The prices were fairly reasonable as far as room service goes, but my food was cold when it arrived. Bummer.

Decor & bed: The room was nicely decorated, the ergonomic desk chair was pretty damn cool (would be a great desk to work at if I was traveling for business) and the king bed was super comfy. I don't think it's truly a "sleep number" bed but it does have an adjustable dial on the side of the mattress to make the bed harder or softer.

Price: I got a great deal for $89/night.

If I'm ever in the area overnight and need a place to crash, this place will be #1 on my list.

Have stayed at the Courtyard around the block, but this hotel came up $30/night cheaper so we tried it out and were very pleasnatly surprised.
The Marriott is slightly more conveniently located if you're walking, but if you are in your car, there's  no appreciable difference (except parking is easier here because it's not gated because it's across from the mall).
Romms very clean, lobby and bar nice.  A great stop for weray travellers headed to wine country the next day :)

I recently stayed at this hotel for a Sunday - Tuesday trip to look at potential future homes in Emeryville. I booked through http://hotels.com because they had a great deal at $89/nt for those 2 nights when http://hilton.com and other travel sites were listing $149/nt for the same dates. The location was perfect for my purpose and compared to the other hotels & motels around the area, this was by far the best deal. The free Emery-go-round shuttle stops here, too.

The room was a pretty standard Hilton room, with the typical bedspreads, which was the only complaint I had (I hate bedspreads; I much prefer soft comforters). It made up for it with the in-room fridge and microwave. It's so convenient to be able to bring back leftovers and reheat them later. I didn't get to try the sleep number bed I read about later, since I got a double.

The best part of this hotel was the array of business amenities. Most importantly there's complimentary internet service, via wi-fi or an ethernet cable in the room that you don't have to request and wait for the staff to bring. There's a business center with 3 computers free for use. There's free unlimited printing on their printer, and they also have remote access so you can print from your own computer in the room. If you need copies, there's a full service copy machine in the business center, also free for use. The staff will also fax things for you on their fax machine at no charge. So when I needed some paperwork printed, copied, and 15 pages faxed at almost midnight, I didn't have to drive to Kinko's in my PJ's and pay $1/page, I was able to do everything without leaving the hotel and without paying a dime. That was so awesome!

Also, there's a 24 hour pantry that is serviced by the friendly front desk guys. They have everything you could possibly need in the middle of the night, including snacks, beer & wine, Tylenol, bandaids, contact solution... love it. If you need a place to stay on the east side of the Bay, this is it. If you can get a good deal on http://hotels.com, even better.

Happy Camper...
Please read my review of this hotel's ugly step-brother the DoubleTree down the road in Berkeley and you won't wonder why this hotel swept me off my feet.

Moved to this hotel with my team to escape the rapidly sinking DoubleTree down the road.

Bright.  Clean.  Comfortable.  Quiet.  Normal.

Work-out room had equipment in good repair.
Breakfast was fine, I had the buffett with the make your own waffle business.
Lobby clean, well lit, no issues.
Was sent a cheese tray - (of cheeses I might actually eat!) and fancy waters by the Sales Mgr; as I had told him my team was trying out new hotels.

Yes, it was a bit pricey at $160 incl. taxes on ea. room.   But when you live on the road for work, a good nights sleep in a safe place with free wireless, late nite room service, and in proximity to a safe clean place to walk around or see a movie is priceless.

Ok, so I'm going to be in the Bay for 25 nights.  Would I rather stay at the Waldorf?  Hell yes!  However, Uncle Sam ain't tryin to foot that bill.  Therefore, I'm at the Hilton Garden Inn.  And I must say, its not that bad.

The rooms are clean and well maintained.  The "sleep number bed" is on point.  All of the King rooms are equipped with them.  The rooms are a decent size with full-sized bathrooms.  The hotel has a pretty good restaurant.  They offer a breakfast buffet every morning which includes, made to order omelettes, make your own Belgian waffles, fruit, french toast, pancakes, bacon and some other stuff.

The staff is friendly, although I did request a king sized bed on a high floor about 3 weeks ago.  I also asked for a view of the bay. I was given a double on a low floor with a view of the parking lot. When I asked to change I was told that all of the rooms were full.  Which I knew was BS b/c half of our group hadn't even checked in yet.

I thought that my Hilton Reward points would get me a little pull but I was mistaken....

I stay here a couple times a year for business. The accommodations are just average, but you get what you pay for. The reason I gave them 4 stars is because they have always been very nice and helpful but more so because the free wifi internet. I think all hotels should offer free wifi internet these days. It doesn't cost them much.  They even have a internet cable in the room for you if you need it. The parking is also free, but they are installing gates because of the freeloading Kaiser employees in the building next to them. I've heard of free printing from your room or business office but haven't had the need to use it yet.

Summary:
--free parking
--free internet
--newly renovated rooms
--good lighting

I got this place for a couple of nights on a Hotwire rate while my power was out at my nearby home.  It's a typically good value HGI business hotel, which are rapidly becoming my choice when I'm not looking for a suite hotel.

Staff at front desk only adequate, since they were too busy to interrupt whatever they were doing to recognize a guest needing assistance.  I didn't sleep over, so I don't know how noisy it is in the evening.

went here for a wedding reception and subsequently stayed the night with my girl(at the time). before the reception, 4 of us went to the bar to have drinks. VERY nice bar with comfortable seating. pre-reception was in a smaller room with food and punch. then the reception was in the big reception room upstairs. the food was good, so was the champagne and wine, and the dance floor got poppin. and the view was amazing. the room had panoramic windows overlooking the bay bridge and everything. after we were exhausted, we went back to the room. plasma tv, king size bed, great view, beautiful room. the next morning, i went downstairs to grab some breakfast items at the store before we checked out. very large parking lots, and the tennessee volunteer cheerleaders stayed here for the cal game. anyone getting married should consider this place for a reception.

My friend and I were looking forward to staying here the night before our half marathon in Alameda. The bartender was very nice and opened our bottle of wine purchased during the day and sent me off to my room with 2 wine glasses. I was looking forward to a nice long shower and when I ran the water, there was nothing hot coming from the spout! I called the front desk (this was around 9:30pm) only to be informed that the boilers were down and the clerk would call me back with an update. No one called. I called again at 10:30pm to learn that perhaps by 11pm we would have hot water. I needed to get to bed, so I decided to take a shower in the early morning. To my surprise, no hot water in the morning either. We also became aware of the very loud freeway noise once the TV was turned off. If you ever stay here, ask for the San Francisco view side. Should be much more quite. The noise from the freeway was so loud, we hardly slept...and we were on the 11th floor. At checkout, I asked the clerk why we were not informed of the lack of hot water when we checked in, as we could have made a decision (or not) to go somewhere else. Remaining calm, I explained not being able to shower. The clerk "comp-ted" our room because of the inconvenience. What a lovely surprise. Because of the courtesy bestowed upon us, I will return, but reserve a room on the quiet side of the hotel.

Free in-room wifi makes this hotel more 'worth it' than any of the competing hotels in the area, which as of this review, do not provide free internet in the room.

For the price, this hotel is also a better value and experience although the rooms are definitely smaller than the Woodfin and include no kitchen like the Woodfin (although there is a mini fridge in the room).

The restaurant and room service food was surprisingly good. I ordered a burger via room service and it was actually one of the best burgers I have had in a long time! A friend ordered a seafood pasta and she said it was also really good. I would say the food here is much better than Woodfin.

The front desk puts out free cookies in the afternoon which is a nice touch and the lobby seating area is fairly comfortable although there tends to be a lot of foot traffic.

I came here for a holiday party with my work place. We were located on the 14th floor. It was a lot of fun. The decor was really nice. There were a lot of tables set up and each table had 10 place settings. Each chair was covered with a seat cover and behind was a big ribbon, alternating between black and white.

We basically filed out table at a time to go get food. There was plenty of food to go around. We had salmon, beef, pasta, salad, rice, and a wide variety of dessert to choose from. The food was really good.

Service was pretty good. There was someone constantly walking around refiling water and clearing the table in a timely manner. Overall I had a good time at the holiday party and I think I would definitely attend the one next year.

While checking out spots to live for when I moved from L.A. to the Bay I first checked out the Claremont. While the Claremont is nice and I would definitely love to stay there... it's not reasonable to have a weekly stay at the cost of your soul a night.  So rather I stayed there for
A few nights then hit up http://hotwire.com for another place not to far away.  For all of you who don't know how hotwire works, basically it gives you a list of prices, star rating of the hotel, general location, and amenities that the hotel offers. So apparently there was a 4 star hotel located in the Emeryville/W. Berkeley area for about $80 a night and I decide why not I have about 3 nights left.  I proceeded to book it and then it told me where I was going to stay. Hilton.... hmmmm... swanky?

I arrive and am easily able to find parking in the good sized lot that they have. From the outside the Hilton Garden Inn looks a bit shady, but as soon as you walk in the front doors, it becomes more luxurious and elegant as one would expect from that kind of tier hotel. As I walk inside the lobby I am greeted by two receptionist behind the counter as I fumble my way with my bags to the counter. Everything was
set and quick with no need to wait... I did however request if there was any rooms higher up facing the bay, but they told me "sorry sir, all the rooms are booked" .... ya .... sure.... whatever you say. I make my way up to my room and it was quite nice.  The decor and accomodations were modern and up to date.  The room was furnished with a sleep number bed so I  had the choice of sleeping on a rock or being engulfed by my bed on both sides. An lcd flat panel television was also on the list of goodies, did I mention it swiveled??? so I can watch it from every angle in the room, oh ya. Bathrooms were good sized and equipped with little neutrogena goodies (shampoo, lotion, conditioner, etc...)

I never got around to trying the dining area or bar. However, I did manage to make my way to their little recreational room which I guess
is the same at every hotel.  Your standard all in one machine, a treadmill, stationary bike, and elliptical machine with a television in front. It's ok... just be a little creative and make a workout for yourself.  Yes, I am one of those who goes on vacation and scopes out places
with gym access or has a local gym near by, sue me. On my last day I realized there were more places I needed to check out so I head down to the front counter and ask to extend my stay. They tell me that it's no problem and it will be $180 a night, $180!#!#)(!#*) GAHHHH? huh?
*stick index finger up for universal one second sign*  not the other finger... head to their business room and hop on hotwire to book the hotel.  Find the four star hotel in the Emeryville/W. Berkeley area and book it again for a few nights at $80 a night.  I then walk around the corner and tell the same person, reservations for Steven T.

I go on my merry way.

The hotel was in a prime location as bay st was on one side and they had a little plaza with the public market and another theater on the other.  The bay bridge was just a hop skip away so you might want to even consider it if you are visiting SF/Berkeley/Oakland etc...

My wife and I had our wedding reception here. Very Reasonable considering the high quality of establishment and the number of guests attending--220. The 14th floor has a view of the Bay Bridge and Sf as well as Berkeley on the other side. All went as planned and the planning went smoothly also. Yvonne in the events office did a superb job of helping us cover the necessities. Great to work with and whole staff very professional. The didn't even want to kick us out at the end because they said our party was so nice.
Great place.
