I spent a week here and have this to say about it:
1. Conveniently located to the 101 freeway and the airport.
2. it is clean and comfortable,
3. The staff gave us a bottle of water every time we walked by (the evening girls did, but this one lady was a real bitch about it).
4. The breakfasts were pretty hearty and very good.
5. The coffee at breakfast was -not- good. Not. Good. At. All.
6. If you like to run, you can take a right out of the hotel parking lot and proceed onto Oyster Point Blvd. Turn right and stay on the road until you come to a Y. Bear right and it should lead you to a guard shack at the marina. Turn around and head back to the hotel. I had no traffic problems on a morning run and ran laps in the nearby parking lots to accumulate 3.1 miles.
7. The Cal Train (is that the name of it?) has a station that is 3 minutes away, and if you ask nicely, the shuttle driver will give you a ride there.
8. On a weekend, you can make it to Japantown in 20 minutes.
9. There is a nice little "mini store" where you can buy beer and local wine. It's surprisingly reasonable for a hotel, so if you're craving a drink or want something to throw in the microwave, you're in luck.
10. The rooms have refrigerators in them!

my friends stayed here for one night. The room was small for the 4 of us. We got 2 double beds, but the bed seemed smaller than double beds I've seen at the hotels I stayed at. It was clean and decent.
So wat...you gonna stay HGI tonight? :)
Why yes, actually, I am!
Big rooms that are comfortable and have tasteful decor. In-room microwave to complement the mini fridge and the LCD flatscreen TV. Free high speed internet and a good breakfast buffet (free cuz hubby is HHonors Gold - what what!).
Only complaint? The odd nature of the bathroom layout - standing in the doorway, the toilet is all the way in the far left-hand corner, about 5 feet from the door, then the sink is tucked away in the lower right-hand corner. It is THE smallest sink ever, with the smallest matching mirror EVER. Put it this way, the sink area is so small, there is barely room for the tissue box and complimentary toiletries, let alone your toiletry/makeup bag!
4 shakas...if someone can rearrange the bathroom, it'd be 5! :)

I'm from Fremont, my boyfriend lives in Daly City, so we wanted a cheap but nice room near the city so I wouldn't have to drive home on New Year's Eve. I scored a room here for $75 on NYE, on priceline. If you haven't tried priceline before, I highly reccomend going to http://biddingfortrave... and reading up on it. I've scored many great cheap rooms because of that website, they have great tips for priceline.
Anyhoo, I digress...
Great place!!! I thought it was gonna be an equivelant to a Holiday Inn, but no, it was NICE!! The staff was very friendly and even let us change rooms because my boyfriend checked in before I got there, and he didn't know that you can request a King or two queens. They were quick and efficient in helping us out.
After finishing an entire bottle of tequila for our new year's celebration, I also requested a late check out and got that as well.
All in all, I reccomend this hotel. The rooms are clean, nice, and staff is friendly. Its near the freeway so it makes it more convienent to get around.

Whenever my folks come into town they ALWAYS stay outside of the city, specifically, the Hilton Garden Inn near the damn airport (though, I think they do it primarily for their Hilton Honors points..ha). Being that they are "out-of-towners" I usually go pick them up and play chauffeur during our family shenanigans in the city. To humor them, I once agreed to stay overnight at the hotel and you know what.. I can see why they continuously come back here.
Unlike the Embassy Suites down the road (which regularly has children's birthday parties and/or some kind of huge family event going on) this place was so quiet and offered above average amenities (i.e. a private office/computer room with FREE internet access, fax machine and printer, pool, hot tub, mini-bar in most rooms, HBO, AC, a nice lounge area in the lobby, a nice little buffet set up for breakfast, lunch & dinner..etc, etc). The rooms are of a decent size and surprisingly have really nice bed linens (very important! There's nothing worse than itchy/crunchy sheets).
I ordinarily wouldn't stay here, but for those visiting San Fran (especially family that hates the hustle and bustle of downtown), it's a nice alternative. Right off the 101 and merely 10 minutes from city life.
If you've just spent the evening driving all over the Bay Area trying to pick up your in-laws who were rerouted from SFO to Oakland via the 7th Circle of Hell (Washington Dulles Airport), and are just plumb exhausted because on top of their delay their luggage has been lost and their son is panicking and you're the one that has to find the hotel information and generally assume the role of the adult and are just looking for a bed to crash in, well, have I got a place for you.
The Hilton Garden's location is not great - think airport hotel row - but as a Hilton virgin, I was blown away by the mattress and duvet. We're talking sheets without a whit of polyester blend. And pillow top, glorious pillow top. The hotel is very generic feeling outside of the room, and the in-room cable TV offerings were pretty pathetic (Where's the Comedy Channel, my friends?), but the bed and sheets more than made up for it.
And if you're like me and have a fear and loathing of hotel coffee shops, there's a Peets Coffee on Grand Ave just on the other side of the 101.

Spacious, comfortable room just a hop, skip, and a jump off of the freeway. What more could one ask for? The place is very well kept. Apparently they've upgraded to the LCD tv's since one of the previous reviewers posted. A refrigerator, a microwave, free internet access, a restaurant in the lobby... it might not have the glitz and glamour of a downtown hotel..... but if you're looking for a reasonably priced place to crash after a long miserable flight into SFO, this is a good place to try.

Overall: It is a clean hotel in a convenient location (off US 101). A free shuttle to and from the airport and place to park car for free (with at least a one night stay).
Room: Room is clean, a mini fridge and a microwave is always appreciated even it is just for a 1-3 night stay at the hotel. Room 405 has a very loud A/C system. Husband and I woke up throughout the night each time the A/C comes on and neither of us are light sleepers.
Location: Location can't be beat for the convenience to US 101 and will have us in the city in 15 mins or less. Free parking at this location can't be beat either.
Restaurants: On-site restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Did not try the meals there other than breakfast. Love the fried potatoes at breakfast. As for other meals, there are nice restaurants just across US101 in downtown South San Francisco, no real reason to eat at hotel unless it is late or tired.
Why 3 stars? It is an average Hilton Garden Hotel. It is an older property, I was expecting their signature garden tub, and it is just a regular tub. I was expecting LCD TV, but they still have tube TV. Housekeeping isn't the friendliest, and front desk has a stern "mom" in the mornings. Evening front desk staff are lots nicer and friendlier. I didn't dare to ask "mom" for any suggestions. $109/night for seniors - not too bad for SF bay area.
A good quiet place to stay. Clean and conveniently located in between San Francisco and the Airport. The hotel is about as everyone else has described it except there is an indoor pool and spa.
You should plan on having a car if you stay at this location as it is in between everything.
