7 reviews for Hilton Garden Inn
The bf and I stayed here this past weekend on a weekend getaway that I planned for his birthday. I was on a budget and had already booked a room at the Royal Sun Inn. When I read reviews on http://tripadvisor.com about the RSI, I immediately cancelled my reservations and was on a mission to find somewhere around the same price range. For only $15 more a night, I found a room at the Hilton Garden Inn on http://priceline.com.
The hotel was very easy to find. The staff was friendly and warm. The lobby was very welcoming and it was decorated nicely for the holidays.
Our room was very nice, comfy beds and lots of pillows which I love. They had Neutrogena bath products in the restroom and our room had a westward view of the city from the second floor which was nice. I like that it is practically walking distance to The River with some great eateries, especially Acqua Pazza and a hop, skip and a jump from Applebees with some great deals.
I don't like the fact that on day 2 of our stay, I found ants in our room. I do like that the staff asked if we'd like to switch rooms. I said no bc we were settled and didn't want to deal with the hassle of packing up and relocating rooms. They offered to come in and spray something, but I said no, I didn't want to deal with any unpleasant smells. I just let them know as a courtesy as something tot ake care of once we leave.
I liked the fact that they called our room on the second night of our stay asking if there was anything we needed before we checked out the next day. I also liked the fact that they let us extend checkout for an hour at no additional cost.
As long as I can get the same rate we paid for, I would definitely like to stay here again.
This place is truly avoidable. With an abundance of hotels and rental units in the area, you can absolutely do better on price, location, and customer service.
The decor was tired and the furniture uncomfortable. Upon check-in our bathroom shower was dirty. The staff was unresponsive. The pool area was forgetable. We were charged $200 after checkout for a smoking fee, but we are not smokers.
The Hilton Hotel chain receives a grade of F (fail) from the Better Business Bureau of California, and after trying to reason with hotel staff and the corporate office over the supposed "smoking fee," I completely understand why. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.
Stayed here for business...
Given the $79 per night rate, I am thoroughly pleased.
I had initially asked for a room by the pool as the nightly temperature during this year averaged around 109F-113F; however, no rooms were available. The front desk tried to accommodate as best they could and provided some discount coupons to nearby food establishments in an attempt to compensate. Yum!
I ended up getting a fairly spacious room on the second floor and my colleague ended up getting an even bigger room, with a sofa couch (no fair!). However, my king sized bed was quite comfortable and I must admit I did sleep like a baby during my stay...
All in all, for business purposes, I would definitely return to the Hilton Garden Inn.
An A-ok place with some more than better perks, check it out:
- Great location if you're visiting the area (even if you're visiting Palm Springs this isn't a bad location) plus it's a walk away from the River Shopping Center.
- Friendly service; Katheryn is who checked us in, so very nice and gave us a welcome goody bag with lots of useful items for any weary traveler.
- The rooms; though not amazingly decorated the amenities are what make it better than normal. A TV, Microwave, AC, Minifridge, Neutragena in the bathrooms, and free internet to boot.
They also have breakfast, but it's $11.95 for the all-american.
If my peppertree inn was taken up I'd venture a bit further and come here for a more commercial take on Palm Desert area. I've been to a lot of Hiltons (one day I may write about them all) but as of now this is probably one of my top 10 Hiltons in the nation that I've been to.
Enjoy!
The Hilton Garden Inn, is just what you'd expect from a 100 dollar hotel.
Decent Pool/Jacuzzi, workout room and a decent room.
I'd stay here for business but not for pleasure.
Located near the shopping center and several decent places to eat/drink its not a bad spot.
If you're looking to be near Palm Springs go elsewhere.
Great location in Palm Desert because its minutes away from the 74 Highway coming in from San Diego...and minutes away from El Paseo. Its also close to Indian Wells, which was the reason for my trip there this past weekend. Rooms are good size with full living room and bedroom. Plenty of parking available as well. And the price was very good as well...$150 for a Sat night stay. Would stay again the next time Im there to be in the Palm Desert area. Probably not the most convenient location if your intention is to be in the Palm Springs area, which is about 15 miles away.
Been to many Hiltons and this was one of the better. The location is not in Palm Springs, it is in a suburb. Marking this hotel down for that makes no sense. The fact that it is located outside of Palm Springs makes it a better deal because if you don't mind driving fifteen minutes you can stay here for half of what you'd pay in Palm Springs.
The staff were nice. The room was very clean and well maintained. The pool area was part of a large patio with plenty of space and not part of a parking lot as with many other hotels.
This hotel is located very close to some nice shopping and dining areas that you could walk to and have a few drinks.
