This hotel is a great little find, nestled in the quiet - yet busy - area of Portsmouth, NH... and just on the south side of Kittery, ME.
A great location to stay in, though not off the water [drat! :-(] it's within walking distance of the water, and the shopping/restaurants on Congress and Market street. Speaking of restaurants, if you're looking for something in the area of the hotel - the Muddy River Smokehouse (BBQ) and Warren's Lobster House, are both fantastic choices.
Now, back to the hotel:
The pictures hosted by their website are very accurate, and the place is very inviting. They have a nice bar in the lobby, but I'm not sure if they serve food (ate out every night). It's great to have a nice, clean, inviting lobby but we're all more worried about the actual rooms right?
Well, you'll be happy to know (as I was to discover) that the rooms are just as nice and inviting. Very clean, and even elegant. Definitely more than I expected for the low bill I was paying.
The staff, and even other guest, we're very friendly and helpful. Plus the front desk had free cookies every day we were there... BONUS!
You're also close to the Kittery Outlets and Nubble light house. And, if you do decide to visit the light house from Portsmouth, I HIGHLY suggest taking York St (Rt 1a?) the drive is beautiful with nice forest and housing areas for your eyes and or camera along the way.
So I really liked this Hilton. I mean, it's not exactly flashy in terms of style, and I do like a highly-styled hotel. At the same time, here's what it has: great location (walking distance to everything in historic Portsmouth), good linens and pillows, a gym, a pool and hot tub, guest laundry, a mini fridge and microwave in the room, free wi fi and printing, apparently binding services and everything you'd need in the biz center .... All of this is huge. I recommend it. Portsmouth is mighty cute, too.

This place has a "2 night minimum" on weekends. I made reservations for a Friday and Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and after 4 hours of driving, found out the reservationist only booked me for Friday night. "There's no rooms left for Saturday" was the response. The senior clerk (moonlighted as a guard a the local women's' prison) walked away when we asked if she would help us find another place to stay. The only person from management was the "Food and Beverage Manager " who said she didn't have any authority to do anything. Contacted "Corporate Guest Assistant" for Hilton who promptly lost or just "round filed" my complaint and never heard back from them. I canceled my hHonors membership and my wife and I decided we would rather sleep on the sidewalk before staying at another Hilton Hotel. Have Fun!

Really nice place to stay while visiting portsmouth. Location is great, walking distance to downtown. Interior is new and really nothing to complain about. Valet is $10 a day, but not a major complain when you're dropping ~$300/night. Tried to have the front desk send up a corkscrew but told me to come down to the hotel bar instead. Thought that was kinda strange being such a nice place, but nothing major.
The hot tub was nice, indoor pool looked uninviting and the fitness room was pretty minimal. The bar had more people in it then I expected and had some live music at night, but I wanted to check out more of the town then just the bar.
Pretty nice place, and location location location. An easy walk to restaurants, shops, and all attractions. I didn't get a chance to try out any of the amenities eg. pool, restaurant or bar area, but looked alright. Minus 1 star cuz they charge 10 buks for parking and didn't mention the plenty of free parking within close vicinity to the hotel.

Sweet digs. Easy to find, easy to park, easy walk to everywhere location in Portsmouth. This place is spanking clean. Our room was large, with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. (High cotton thread count sheets, feather beds and clean, cotton duvet covers). It is a new hotel, so the walls and ceilings are sound proof--we didnt hear a thing. The gym facility is decent, and the jacuzzi/pool are nice too. The lobby bar is cozy, with fireplaces and large screen TVs. Our female bartender was great--she treated us like gold! We had breakfast included in our rate--eggs, omelets, pancakes, anything you want made to order. This place is a real treat!

excellent location. prices vary a lot-- the first time we stayed here, we payed around 150 and felt it was totally worth it. then the second time we were coming into town, prices had doubled. we ended up staying in the sheraton instead but i find the HGI much nicer. if i had the choice, i'd stay here. the one problem is that it's valet parking only. we ended up parking across the street in the municipal lot and then on the street at night after the meters stopped running. it was a huge pain-- next time we'll probably just pay them.
the rooms here are much newer than the sheraton and they're very well-kept. the bed is heaven. there's also free internet-- at the sheraton, they were having some problem with the internet so we ended up using the free computer in the lobby. ugh.
I don't know if my room was worth $279/night but it's a sweet hotel. huge rooms with free internet (no wi-fi) and tons of power outlets for gadgets and mobile device chargers. comfortable beds with good sheets, big bath and closet. coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge. and of course swimming pool, hot tub, fitness room. good times. here's a tip: get the bed & breakfast when you book the room, if I'm remembering correctly it's only an extra $10 for breakfast for up to 4 adults and if you were to go down and pay for breakfast normally, they charge $13/each. and the breakfast is so good. I don't know if I'll go back because at this point in my life/career that's a lot of money for a hotel room but i definitely would recommend the Hilton Garden Inn.
